Chapter 384 Pretending to be a Pig to Eat a Tiger (4)_1
"Martial Uncle! Senior Brother Li Zhaode!" Li Zhaohong’s eyes reddened as she looked at the fragments scattered on the ground."Alright. I will handle this matter. Li Zhaode has always been a troublemaker, and now he has offended Lord Meihua. I will explain this to the Family Head when I return."
Watching the eight figures disappear into the distance, Shangguan You’s silhouette once again emerged into the night. She held a slip of paper, looking at the address on it. It was time for her to make a trip there. She was certain there would be unexpected gains.
The address on the slip of paper in her hand was precisely the location of Old Man Qi and his grandson, Qi Zhuochen. One part was an address Old Man Qi had left himself; the other concerned a person Ouyang Xuan had asked her to find before he departed.
A flash of determination crossed Shangguan You’s eyes as she swiftly leaped toward the destination noted on the slip of paper.
In the pitch-dark night, a petite figure darted through the shadows. Her body moved like a gust of wind, swiftly crossing through the darkness before she stopped in a narrow, dimly lit alley.
As she observed the crisscrossing alleys before her, admiration flickered across Shangguan You’s face. In a city like Beijing, places were typically either luxury estates or commercial housing. Then there were alleys like this one, rented by people from out of town who had left their homes to come here for various reasons. These alleys were a labyrinth, and the people living within were a motley crew from all walks of life.
It was ingenious of Old Man Qi to choose this place for his residence. Even those intentionally seeking him would have to exert considerable effort. The greatest hermits hide in plain sight within the city, while lesser ones hide in the wilderness. Old Man Qi was truly a hidden master.
Shangguan You couldn’t help but feel a growing respect for Old Man Qi. With such a person, perhaps there would indeed be unexpected gains tonight.
"Second Young Master Ye, Ye Qiu." Shangguan You halted at the entrance to the alley and softly called into the dark night. As her words fell, two figures appeared before her as swiftly as the wind.
"Missy, decided to quit scheming against people and become a thief instead? It’s truly rare to find something that catches your eye in a place like this." Second Young Master Ye’s brows furrowed stiffly as he spoke coldly to Shangguan You. Aside from those few days she behaved during the college entrance exams, this girl never seemed to live a single day properly. At such a young age, where did she find so many things to keep her busy? She was even busier than they were, with hardly any time to rest.
"Eldest Miss," Ye Qiu greeted respectfully, then stepped aside.
"I do as I please. What business is it of yours?" Shangguan You snorted, eyeing Second Young Master Ye’s dark, handsome face and speaking coldly.
"Naturally, I can’t. But you mustn’t forget our agreement. Besides, Little Brother will be back soon." Second Young Master Ye’s dark figure seemed to merge into the shadows, a chill emanating from him that cut through the July heat.
"You two head back first. I have something to attend to." Shangguan You glanced at Second Young Master Ye, then paid him no further heed. For some inexplicable reason, she didn’t want anyone to know what she was about to do. Not even Third Young Master Ye.
"But Eldest Miss, our duty is to ensure your safety."
"I’m just going to meet a friend. With my abilities, no one can harm me. Go back; I’ll be fine."
"You brat! Who are you planning to scheme against this time that you don’t want us to know?" Second Young Master Ye’s brows furrowed even more, his voice laced with a distinct chill.
"Whoever I’m scheming against, it isn’t you. Now go. I’m giving you both the night off," Shangguan You retorted swiftly, her dark silhouette quickly vanishing into the night.
"Second Young Master, will the Eldest Miss be alright?"
"Even I can’t detect her concealment techniques. And with her level of skill, besides *that place*, who in this world do you think could be her match?" Second Young Master Ye replied coldly, his tall figure also disappearing into the darkness.
Every time Shangguan You vanished, they assumed she was using a special concealment technique. No one ever suspected that she actually possessed a separate space where she could hide.
Watching the two vanish, Shangguan You reappeared in the darkness. She darted into another alley, stopping in front of a somewhat old, five-story building and leaping over the wall.
The building seemed to be mostly rental units, housing all sorts of people, so ordinarily, she wouldn’t need to ring a doorbell. It was late at night; only the fifth-floor lights were on, while the rest of the building was enveloped in pitch darkness. Shangguan You glanced at the address on the slip of paper and headed to the fifth floor. She rang the doorbell. The other floors likely had rooms rented out individually, but the fifth floor had only one door, meaning a single family probably occupied the entire level.
Shangguan You had barely stopped when the door creaked open. A child, about seven or eight years old, stood there, looking up at her with a smile.
"Sister You! Grandpa said you were coming, but I didn’t believe him. I can’t believe it’s really you!" Qi Zhuochen’s adorable face lit up as he took Shangguan You’s hand and led her inside.
"Zhuochen, why are you still awake so late?" Shangguan You gently pinched his small cheek and followed him inside. He’s so adorable at such a young age, she thought. I wonder how many hearts he’ll capture when he grows up.
"I was waiting for you, Sister You! Grandpa said you were coming, so we both stayed up." Qi Zhuochen pulled Shangguan You to sit on the sofa. The house was quaint and traditional, furnished with solid wood pieces, and a faint scent of sandalwood lingered in the air. Old Man Qi was at a table with a Go board, apparently playing a game. It seemed the grandfather and grandson had been playing Go while waiting for her.
When Old Man Qi saw Shangguan You, a smile touched his lips. He gestured for her to sit opposite him and finish the current game of Go.
"I don’t know how to play Go. It’s better if Zhuochen keeps you company, Elder," Shangguan You declined politely. She had too much to do and no time to beat around the bush with Old Man Qi.
"Grandpa, we’ve waited a whole seven months for Sister You! She’s finally here, and you still want to play Go?" Qi Zhuochen exclaimed, a hint of exasperation in his voice. He pulled Old Man Qi up from the Go table, then plopped himself down on the sofa opposite Shangguan You.
"Miss Shangguan, is there some unresolved matter you need this old man’s help with?" Old Man Qi sighed deeply, ruffling Qi Zhuochen’s hair. This boy, he’s just a little too impulsive, he thought.
