Chapter 373 College Entrance Exam(2)_1
"Save me, save me!" Shen Cheng also cried out, realizing that if he became entangled with Zhuge Ao and the others, it wouldn’t just be the Shen Family at risk—his own life would be in jeopardy. He hadn’t had his fill of good days yet, and he certainly didn’t want to become a wanted criminal."Zhuge Yang, Shen Po, you won’t escape today even if you sprout wings! Release the hostage, and we’ll let you live," Luo Wu said, his brow furrowed.
"Hmph! If you take one more step, I’ll smash their heads in and make them die with us! Who do you think you are, daring to point your guns at us?" Zhuge Ao roared, so furious he nearly suffered internal injuries from sheer rage. His body could move, but his Spiritual Energy, along with his physical strength, was depleted. If Shangguan You hadn’t been feigning weakness, he wouldn’t have been able to control her at all.
He glanced at Huoyi and the others, noticing the sweat beading on their foreheads; it seemed everyone was in a similar state. He and Shen Po exchanged a look, swiftly relaying information with their eyes.
"Zhuge Ao, Shen Po, release the hostages!"
"Hahaha, what a joke! Put down your guns and let us leave. Otherwise, I’ll smash open the head of the Shangguan Family’s Princess! I’d like to see who will bear the Shangguan Family’s wrath then—your Luo Family or the police department!" Zhuge Ao bellowed again, the knife already pressing tightly against Shangguan You’s skin.
"Back off!" Zhuge Ao snarled, the knife in his hand inching closer.
Shangguan You’s brow furrowed. Damn it! If I’d known this brat was so dangerous, I would have kept him immobilized for a few more minutes.
"Zhuge Ao, you’re already a wanted criminal! If you dare harm her, just you wait!"
"Save your breath! You think I’m afraid of you?" Zhuge Ao yelled, slashing the knife across Shangguan You’s neck. She tilted her head back just enough, and a thin line of crimson blood welled from the cut.
"Everyone, fall back!" Luo Tong’s expression changed drastically upon seeing the blood on her neck. He waved his hand, and all his men retreated.
"Let’s go!" Zhuge Ao roared, dragging the hostages as he began to move out. Outside, under the cloak of the dark night, soldiers had already surrounded the area.
Shangguan You’s profound eyes turned cold. Although she had skillfully maneuvered to ensure the wound on her neck was merely a shallow scratch, she would have sent Zhuge Ao to meet King Yama already if she weren’t trying to conceal her true strength. But rage coursed through her. With a wave of her hands, she directed her Spiritual Energy straight at Zhuge Ao.
With a BANG, the sound cut sharply through the dark night. Zhuge Ao, who had been walking, suddenly crumpled to the ground. His grip loosened, and the knife clattered away. Shangguan You’s gaze turned icy as she viciously kicked Zhuge Ao in the chest.
SPLAT! A mouthful of blood spurted from Zhuge Ao’s chest. In the darkness, her movements were lightning fast. Before anyone could react, Zhuge Ao was down.
The instant this sudden turn of events occurred, Luo Tong, who had been waiting for an opportunity, rushed forward. As Shangguan You pinned Zhuge Ao underfoot, all the soldiers sprang into action.
Shangguan You looked at Zhuge Ao, whose veins were practically popping with rage. Damn him. She leaned close to his ear and said with a cold sneer, "Zhuge Ao, this is just the beginning. Savor it slowly." As she spoke, she swiftly forced a Hundred Poisons Pill into his mouth.
"Stinky girl, just you wait!" Zhuge Ao roared, trying to spit out the poison, but it was too late. Luo Tong and Luo Wu quickly moved in, subduing Zhuge Ao, Shen Po, Huoyi, and their numerous accomplices.
The four hostages were successfully rescued.
Luo Wu quickly came over. "Girl, how are you?" He anxiously checked the wound on her neck.
"I’m fine," Shangguan You replied.
"I’ve studied a bit of Medical Arts. Allow me," Zhong Mingyang interjected, carefully tending to her wound. Fortunately, it wasn’t deep, just a shallow cut.
"How is it?" Li Lan asked, her voice laced with concern.
"The wound isn’t deep, so she’s fine," Zhong Mingyang reported after carefully cleaning the blood from Shangguan You’s neck. "However, it’s best if it doesn’t get wet for a few days, or it might leave a scar." Both he and Li Lan sighed in relief.
"Everyone, it’s all right now. Please come with us to the police station to assist with the investigation," Director Duan stammered.
Director Duan was met with silence, then mocking laughter. Suddenly, the laughter grew uproarious as two figures rushed out from the darkness. The brightly lit area suddenly plunged into darkness, and a cacophony erupted. Shangguan You clearly saw Zhuge Yang and an Elder whisking Zhuge Ao, Shen Po, and their party away, vanishing swiftly from sight.
Shangguan You’s lips curled into a smirk. Run, run. Let’s see how far you can get.
When the lights flickered back on, the soldiers who had been restraining Zhuge Ao and the others lay unconscious on the ground. Zhuge Yang and his group had escaped.
"They got away again!" Luo Tong slammed his fist fiercely onto a nearby car, glaring furiously into the oppressive darkness.
"Bring Director Duan to me! Take him back for a thorough interrogation," Luo Wu ordered coldly. "It’s time to properly clean up these scoundrels from tonight’s events."
Director Duan collapsed to the ground, his face ashen. He genuinely hadn’t known that members of the Shangguan Family were among those he had allowed Uncle Yu to brazenly walk out of the police station. Otherwise, even if he were a hundred times bolder, he wouldn’t have dared. This time, it was over, truly over for him.
「In the You Family’s main office」
The atmosphere was heavy. Shangguan You sat in the main seat, with Li Lan and Zhong Mingyang standing before her, heads bowed.
Shangguan You took a deep breath, her voice cold as she began, "I want a clear explanation from you two. Haven’t I told you that the Jade Dew Pill, aside from your own use, must not be given to anyone else—no matter how much you trust them—nor should its existence even be mentioned? Did you listen to me at all? Do you now understand how formidable our enemies are? I’ve told you repeatedly that this world isn’t as simple as it appears. There are countless individuals out there far beyond your knowledge."
From Uncle Yu, she had learned that the Jade Dew Pill was the cause of this disaster. While these pills could strengthen an ordinary person’s body, to Cultivators, they were potent enough to directly enhance Inner Strength and Spiritual Energy. To her, they were of little consequence, mere ’chicken ribs,’ but to Cultivators, they were priceless Spiritual Medicine.
