Chapter 597 - 581 Extra: Twin Troubles 1 (Zhao Chun, Qinglan, Qingduo)
Tian Sangsang gave birth to a pair of twin sisters. The older one is named Jiang Qinglan, and the younger one is named Jiang Qingduo.
Interestingly, the sisters have contrasting personalities—one lively, the other calm—complementing each other perfectly. When they were born, the elder sister, Jiang Qinglan, didn’t cry or fuss. It wasn’t until the nurse gave her a light pat on her bottom that she let out a faint, kitten-like mewl. However, the younger sister, Jiang Qingduo, was totally different, crying like a little calf.
The birth of the twin sisters brought immense joy to Meng Shuyan, Jiang Jinghuai, and Zhao Chun.
Of course, the two kids were handed over to Zhao Chun to care for. What could be done? He was the most experienced "nanny-dad" among them.
Later on, Zhao Chun started his own entertainment company and was often so busy that he couldn’t leave home. In order to take care of the sisters, he worked from home most of the time. Even when he occasionally went to the office, he would bring the kids along.
Wherever he went, he carried the twin sisters with him, leaving the employees at his company utterly shocked.
Who would’ve thought that the proud and dignified Boss was actually a "nanny-dad?"
The sisters were both adorably cute, with identical eyes, noses, and little mouths that charmed everyone.
To distinguish them, Zhao Chun designated "Blue" and "Pink" as their identifiers.
The elder sister’s clothes, accessories, and toys were mostly blue, while the younger one’s were mostly pink, making it easy to tell them apart. Jiang Qinglan, the quiet one, was usually carried on Zhao Chun’s back, while Jiang Qingduo, the rowdy one, was carried in his arms.
In the blink of an eye, eight years had passed.
"Jiang Qingduo, you tore up Zhao Chun’s notebook! That was way too much!" Now eight years old, Qinglan had blossomed into a graceful little girl. The sky-blue puffy dress she wore glimmered as clean and clear as a freshly washed sky. Qinglan had often seen Zhao Chun writing in that notebook; as a perceptive child, she already understood its importance.
"It’s just a worthless old notebook! Chun Zisu uses it for writing anyway," Qingduo pouted dismissively. "I didn’t do it on purpose."
"His name is Zhao Chun—he’s not called Chun Zisu."
"Big Brother says his name is Chun Zisu, so I’ll call him Chun Zisu." Qingduo playfully stuck out her tongue. "Chun Zisu, Chun Zibing, Chun Zigao, Chun Zipai..."
"Wait until you get spanked." Qinglan sighed softly, furrowing her delicate brow as she crouched to pick up fragments from the floor.
"Qinglan, help me! I don’t want to get spanked! He’ll smack my bottom!" Qingduo leaned close to Qinglan, blinking her bright, watery eyes.
"No. I’m not helping you. You’re such a troublemaker."
Qinglan paused, her voice gentle: "And a little devil."
"You always helped me before! Just help me one more time, pleeease!" Qingduo grinned cheekily. "If I’m a little devil, aren’t you the big devil’s sister?"
"Mom says lying makes you a bad dog."
"That only works on three-year-olds—I’m eight now." Qingduo made a dismissive gesture.
Qinglan stopped what she was doing and remained crouched on the floor.
Seizing her chance, Qingduo grabbed Qinglan’s hand and pleaded in a honeyed voice, "Help me, Qinglan~~~ Pleeease, pleeease~~~~~~" Her words grew syrupy and incoherent.
"Fine. Just this once." Qinglan firmly tapped Qingduo’s forehead with her finger.
Qingduo didn’t respond verbally, but her round eyes sparkled mischievously.
Silly big sister.
Thus, behind the tightly shut study room door, the two little girls began swapping clothes. The blue outfit was put on the one wearing pink, and the pink outfit on the one wearing blue.
"Wait—this too! The hair clip. And this, the bracelet."
Qingduo swiftly extended her hands to change both their accessories, clearly showing the skill of a seasoned expert.
"Who tore up my sheet music?" Upon returning, Zhao Chun’s handsome face carried a mix of irritation and helplessness. He often jotted down his creative inspirations in that notebook, yet it had been reduced to scraps in the time it took him to host a guest.
"Qingduo, it was you, wasn’t it? Hmm?"
"You troublemaker—you’re going to drive Uncle crazy!"
Wearing the blue outfit, Qingduo quietly pointed to the side and replied demurely, "Yes, Qingduo tore it."
"You’re even better than your mom at causing mischief!" Over the years, Zhao Chun frequently recalled scenes from when Tian Sangsang used to "torment" him. The mother and daughter duo were practically cast from the same mold!
In Zhao Chun’s mind, Tian Sangsang seemed to have a split personality, and these two daughters inherited her traits separately—one per child.
Zhao Chun picked up a music book and placed it gently on "Qingduo’s" head. He lowered his voice and said sternly, "Stand against the wall for half an hour. Your mom wasn’t wrong—you’re showing symptoms of hyperactivity. It’s time to address them. Otherwise, how will you get married in the future?"
"I’m sorry, Zhao Chun," "Qingduo" whimpered pitifully, biting nervously at her pale lower lip. "I don’t want to get married." Rarely did Zhao Chun punish the kids, but this time he was genuinely angry.
Children shouldn’t be spoiled; when they need discipline, they must face it.
"Imitating your sister’s voice won’t help—it doesn’t change your punishment. If you tear up another book, you won’t get dinner," Zhao Chun warned, pulling "Qinglan" by the hand. "Let’s go eat dinner. Let your sister cool off a bit."
As they reached the door, "Qingduo" looked over to see "Qinglan" sneakily curling her lips into a sly smile.
Tears immediately streamed down "Qingduo’s" cheeks.
A week later was the sisters’ birthday. The earlier incident was long forgotten, dismissed as nothing but a minor squabble. They had already switched back to their original outfits.
Zhao Chun, who always doted on the two girls, had promised them each a wish.
"I... want to go swimming. Swimming in the sea. Mom and Dad won’t let me go to the seaside. Chun Zisu, take me there!" Qingduo declared cheerfully as she munched on a piece of cake.
"Your mouth is dirty," Zhao Chun gently wiped the cream from the corner of her lips, looking at her intently with his dark eyes. "No, that’s not possible."
"I want to go! Chun Zisu, you’re breaking your promise!" Qingduo stood up, hands on her hips. "You said you’d grant any wish!"
"You’re not old enough. For now, you can only swim in a pool. If you want to swim in the sea, that’ll have to wait until you’re eighteen. Uncle will take you then," Zhao Chun replied, somewhat brushing her off. He figured by eighteen, she’d have likely forgotten all about it.
Qingduo stared wide-eyed as she counted, "Nine, ten, eleven, twelve... eighteen. That’s just ten years—it’s not that long. Eighteen it is!"
Excited, she darted off like a little butterfly to tell her brothers the good news.
"Lanlan, what about you? What do you wish for?" Zhao Chun turned to Qinglan.
Qinglan was a sensible little girl and had never been a source of worry for him.
"Zhao Chun, what were you like when you were young?" Qinglan raised her head and nervously watched him. "That’s my wish. You can’t refuse to answer."
"Lanlan, don’t you think using your wish for a question is a bit of a waste? Is there nothing else you want? Uncle could bring it back for you on his next trip—like a doll? A music box? Or maybe even a piano, since you love it so much?"
"No," Qinglan said, shaking her head slowly. "Zhao Chun, I want you to answer my question."
Zhao Chun was momentarily stunned, then chuckled softly as he reached out to pat her head. "Why do you always call me Zhao Chun? You should call me Uncle."
"...You’re Zhao Chun."
"If you call me Uncle, I’ll answer you."
