Chapter 620: Guard Against Fire, Theft, and Your Own Mother
Chapter 620: Guard Against Fire, Theft, and Your Own Mother
After teasing Sterling Norwood for a while, Selena Kensington reined in her smile.
"No more teasing, when are you planning to take action?"
Selena asked.
"Tomorrow."
Upon hearing Sterling’s reply, Selena thought it was just right since the Corinthia Film Festival was happening tomorrow.
She could go back the day after, by which time Sterling would likely be finished too.
So she could see Sterling as soon as possible.
Thinking this, Selena felt a lot more relaxed and happy.
But...
It seemed Selena had thought of something, her gaze slightly tense.
The date of the Corinthia Film Festival was August 14th.
This date happened to be her and Sterling’s wedding anniversary.
"Looks like we’ll have to be a bit aggrieved this year."
Selena said with a smile.
Sterling understood the meaning in Selena’s words, his gaze softened.
The deep blue of his eyes rippled gently with warmth, beautiful and profound.
"I’ll make it up to you when you get back."
The gentle, low voice spoke words that moved Selena and made her heart flutter.
Selena laughed even more happily, her smile unable to be suppressed.
"Okay."
Selena sweetly agreed.
After coaxing his little darling wife, Sterling began urging her to sleep.
"Go take a nap."
Ever since Selena became pregnant, the words Sterling said most were "go take a nap."
Afraid that Selena might feel a bit tired.
Selena had gotten used to this version of Sterling during this time, so she nodded.
"Mm."
She replied softly, and then, not entirely at ease, reminded him again.
"Be very careful, okay?"
"Got it."
After getting Sterling’s response, Selena hung up the video call with satisfaction.
Sloane Hawthorne’s message came through just in time.
[Sloane]: Sis, have you arrived yet?
[Selie Stays Slim]: I’m here, I’m already in the hotel room.
[Selie Stays Slim]: You must have arrived too. Take a break, and let’s go out with cousin in the evening.
[Sloane]: What about you, sis?
[Selie Stays Slim]: Don’t worry about me, go have fun. I know people here.
Selena couldn’t help but smile, seemingly since she got pregnant, many people started treating her like a child.
Worried about her unnecessarily.
Hearing Selena say this, Sloane felt reassured.
She looked at Silas Sinclair beside her, "Sis said we can go out and play by ourselves, not to worry about her."
"Apparently, she has friends on the Isle of Cyrin."
Upon hearing this, a hint of joy flashed in Silas’s eyes, but since he was still in front of Sloane, he suppressed his delight.
He cleared his throat, pretending to be calm and composed, "Since sister-in-law said so, we don’t need to worry about her."
Sloane rolled her eyes at him, "Stop pretending, you must be secretly happy."
"..."
Silas was a bit internally injured.
His wife was gentle and obedient in front of Selena but quite bossy in front of him.
However, Silas enjoyed it nonetheless.
Meanwhile, after Selena and Sloane finished talking, she put her phone aside.
Closed her eyes and fell asleep.
*
When Selena woke up again, the sunlight outside was incredibly gentle.
The orange glow of the sun bathed the bed, providing a sense of warmth.
Selena looked at the scenery outside; the sun was about to set.
She yawned slightly, got up to freshen up.
As she walked out of the bedroom, Hope Norwood was already waiting outside.
"Madam, people from the Colombo Family came by just now."
Selena responded, "Hmm? What did they say?"
"They asked if you would like to play first or have dinner first."
Since Selena had lunch late and then had some desserts afterward,
she didn’t feel hungry now.
"Let’s go play first."
"Alright, Young Master Colombo is already waiting for you downstairs."
In fact, Samuel Dalton had arrived at Maria Hotel half an hour earlier.
Not wanting to wake Selena, he didn’t directly call to inquire.
Instead, he sent a subordinate to ask.
Moreover, after Mrs. Anna returned, Samuel was eager to ask what Anna and Selena talked about.
Mrs. Anna deliberately enjoyed watching her son look frustrated and shared that she had recognized Selena as her goddaughter.
"..."
Samuel was indeed silent for a moment after knowing this.
It’s always hard to guard against a mother’s unexpected moves.
But then Samuel surprisingly felt relieved.
This way, his relationship with Selena felt closer.
With these thoughts, Samuel didn’t get mad at Mrs. Anna this time.
Selena changed into some casual clothes and went downstairs with Hope.
In the lobby of Maria Hotel, Samuel sat on the spacious sofa.
To avoid dampening Selena’s spirits, he arranged for the Colombo Family to go out in plain clothes to protect them discreetly.
After a nap, Selena felt much more refreshed.
She walked over, "Samuel, have you been waiting long?"
Samuel immediately stood up, smiling and shaking his head, "Not long, I just arrived."
"..."
A strange expression briefly crossed Hope’s face.
The madam’s brother was blatantly lying.
Clearly, he arrived more than half an hour ago.
And yet he said he just got here...
However, Hope was always a quiet person and refrained from speaking unless necessary.
Selena nodded.
Samuel continued, "Sister, during the film festival, because of the crowds, the main street is closed to vehicles, so you’ll have to walk a bit."
Due to the heavy tourist footfall during the festival, and the main city’s historic architecture and roads,
there’s not as much space as in outer streets.
To prevent any accidents, the main streets on the Isle of Cyrin are closed to vehicles during this period.
Selena didn’t mind at all.
After all, Maria Hotel wasn’t far from the main city’s street.
Moreover, the Isle of Cyrin’s streets were beautifully landscaped.
Any street view might become a photo spot for tourists.
"I don’t mind, let’s go."
After saying this, Samuel nodded.
He glanced at the nearby Colombo Family members.
Then he caught up with Selena.
Samuel stood beside Selena, while Hope stayed close by but with a respectful distance.
She didn’t walk directly with Selena, but kept an appropriate distance.
Not disturbing her outing while always staying attentive to her.
The group left Maria Hotel.
When Selena looked, she saw the distant scene of the sunset.
The warm tones of the evening sky seemed to wrap the Isle of Cyrin in a delicate, hazy veil.
The distant streets had scattered tourists walking along.
Many of the roadside leisure cafes were already packed with guests.
Due to the film festival, the streets were inevitably lined with festival-related elements.
Numerous festival posters and celebrity posters might be posted up.
