Hearing these words, Xiaoxiao was astonished. It turns out Grandma hadn’t mentioned this matter all along because she was testing those families.

The reason Grandma approached Xiaoxiao about this was knowing her sons’ families had relied entirely on this granddaughter-in-law to turn things around. If she approached her sons, they would likely turn to Xiaoxiao, and if Xiaoxiao refused, her sons would be in a difficult position. It was simpler for Grandma to approach Xiaoxiao directly; if it worked, great; if not, so be it.
