Reborn as a Tough Army Wife

Chapter 607 - 602: Feeling Sorry for Her

Chapter 607 - 602: Feeling Sorry for Her

Liu Fengsheng remembered the first time he saw Fang Pingying, she was setting up a small stall in town to sell pastries for a living and had gotten into an argument with a sales clerk at the credit cooperative over the clerk’s attitude.

At the time, she made a very deep impression on him; he rarely saw a typical rural woman argue with a credit cooperative’s clerk on such firm ground.

In that small town, most of the people were not highly educated, and many envied the clerks’ jobs at the credit cooperative. No matter how poor their attitude was, the townsfolk had grown accustomed to it, almost feeling as if it was expected. Otherwise, these clerks wouldn’t have developed such bad habits.

Most people, even if they knew the clerks’ attitudes were poor and their actions wrong, would either just endure it or get into a fistfight. Rarely did anyone handle situations like she did.

Later, because of Tingting, he got to know her better and was amazed to find that she, a woman, could run such a big business by herself in the city. Besides his admiration, he gained a deeper understanding of her family and realized that everything truly rested on her shoulders alone, as Luo Zhiyong couldn’t get too involved due to work.

And yet, she wasn’t just shouldering work all by herself; she also handled all the household affairs and had to deal with troubles from her in-laws now and then.

Back then, and even now, Liu Fengsheng couldn’t quite understand why Luo Zhiyong would always say he loved Fang Pingying and couldn’t lose her, yet he could bear to let the person he loved most suffer so much.

If it were him, he would definitely treasure her, allowing her to stay at home carefree, taking care of her husband and teaching her children, while he shouldered all the burdens outside.

Thinking of all this, Liu Fengsheng sighed, and his gaze on Fang Pingying’s face became even more profound.

When it was almost dawn, Fang Pingying woke up and saw a man lying in front of her upon waking. She could only see the back of his short head, and his warm hand was holding hers. Even though she knew it was impossible, her heart skipped a beat, and she softly called out, "Zhiyong, you’re back."

Liu Fengsheng, who had been by her bedside, was awakened by Fang Pingying’s voice. He lifted his head and asked softly, "Pingying, are you awake?"

Seeing it was Liu Fengsheng, Fang Pingying quickly pulled her hand out of his, looking somewhat embarrassed as she said, "Oh, it’s Fengsheng."

Then she looked around, realizing she was in the hospital, and was utterly baffled as she looked at Liu Fengsheng.

"Don’t you remember?" Liu Fengsheng said, "You fainted at home last night. Yaoyao ran upstairs to get me."

Fang Pingying recalled the events of the previous day. She looked around anxiously and not seeing Ruirui and Yaoyao with her, quickly asked, "Where are Yaoyao and Ruirui now? Did you leave them alone in the house?"

As she spoke, Fang Pingying tried to remove the IV needle, planning to go home.

Liu Fengsheng immediately stopped her, saying while doing so, "They’re fine, they are at home. I sent you to the hospital last night and asked Tingting to watch them. They play with Tingting all day anyway; she can definitely take care of them."

Hearing that Tingting was with the two children, Fang Pingying slightly relaxed and lay back on the bed. Seeing the dark circles under Liu Fengsheng’s eyes and realizing he must have been up all night after bringing her here, she said, "Fengsheng, you must have not slept all night, right? Look, I’m fine now, and I’ll go back after getting this IV. You don’t need to go to work today either, just call in sick to the supermarket and rest for the day."

Liu Fengsheng, hearing her wish to go back immediately, insisted, "No, the doctor said you have severe anemia and need to be on nutrient IVs for a few days at the hospital."

Initially, Fang Pingying dared not ask what was wrong with her, as she had frequently been feeling dizzy and feared she had a serious illness she wasn’t ready to face.

Now hearing she simply had anemia, she felt relieved and smiled, "Oh, it’s just anemia? That’s not a big deal. I can just cook myself some good food at home to nourish my body."

Seeing Fang Pingying not taking it seriously, Liu Fengsheng sat down on the chair with a stern look, anxiously saying to her, "No, if you insist on leaving, I will stay here until you finish the two days of IV treatments."

"Fengsheng, actually..." Fang Pingying hesitated and then said what she had been wanting to say for a while, "You shouldn’t be so kind to me; there’s nothing I can offer in return."

Ever since Liu Fengsheng professed his feelings, Fang Pingying intended to reject him directly, but felt it would be too awkward, so she chose to purposely distance herself from him; she thought Liu Fengsheng knew that.

"I never wanted anything in return," Liu Fengsheng said after a moment of silence, then suddenly looked up at Fang Pingying, "I just hope you take better care of yourself. You are just a woman, not made of iron, some people since they’ve left...

In truth, Liu Fengsheng wanted to say that since Luo Zhiyong had left, he hoped Fang Pingying would stay away from getting entangled again. He didn’t know the specifics of what had happened at the Luo Family, but when Fang Pingying followed them back for a few days and then brought Luo Dashan over, he was sure trouble had arisen again.

However, as it was their private matter, Liu Fengsheng felt it was not his place to intervene too much, and he said, "I just want you not to overtax yourself. You are still young, and you have a long life ahead, don’t make it too hard for yourself."

Fang Pingying didn’t know how to respond and finally just said sincerely, "Fengsheng, thank you."

Hearing this, Liu Fengsheng nodded without saying more. After a moment, he stood up, tidied his clothes, and said to Fang Pingying, "I’ll go buy you some breakfast and call your shop to let Yu’er know, and ask if Aunt Yuchun and the others can come to look after you for a while. After Aunt Yuchun arrives, I’ll leave then. It’s still early; there’s no rush to get to work."

After saying this, Liu Fengsheng left. Fang Pingying wanted to call out to him but failed to do so.

Watching his hurried departure, Fang Pingying felt a complex mix of emotions. She couldn’t deny that in many ways Liu Fengsheng was better than Luo Zhiyong, and even his person and his family could be what many women dream of, yet she just didn’t feel that way about Liu Fengsheng.

She didn’t know why, the only explanation being she had been entangled with Luo Zhiyong for two lifetimes, having spent all her emotions on him alone.

Regarding feelings, she was exhausted and didn’t want to touch upon them again. In the future, she just wanted to live a happy life with her two children and family. As for when the children grew up, whether she would be lonely or whatever happened, that would be a matter for the future.

Anyway, as long as the children were not grown up, she was not willing to touch upon a new relationship.
