Reborn as a Tough Army Wife

Chapter 580 - 575: In Transition

Chapter 580 - 575: In Transition

Xu He didn’t understand why and looked up at Shuanzi, who was standing in the distance.

She saw Shuanzi leaning against a nearby wall, raising his eyebrows at her, signaling her to open the bag.

Xu He opened the paper bag and her face immediately turned beet red.

Inside the paper bag were two of the recently popular bra-style underwear, which she had just seen while passing by a store.

The salesperson in the store was pushing her to buy them, saying not only do they look good but they are also beneficial for a woman’s body. She was tempted but when she asked for the price, one piece of clothing cost tens of dollars, which she could not afford. So she looked and eventually put it down.

Unexpectedly, Shuanzi had bought her two pieces right off the bat.

Although it was somewhat embarrassing to receive this kind of thing from a man, Xu He was quite pleased with the items inside. She clutched the bag tightly, glanced at Shuanzi, and ran off.

The underling following behind Shuanzi approached and said somewhat obsequiously, "Big brother, with your status, any woman you want could be yours. Why spend this money on her?"

Shuanzi glanced in the direction Xu He had gone, his lips curving slightly, speaking in a somewhat casual tone, "It’s just a few dollars, I can afford to spend it."

The tone of Shuanzi’s voice was unpredictable, and even the underlings didn’t know whether he was serious about Xu He or just doing it for fun. They looked at each other and someone slapped the head of the underling who just spoke, chuckling, "Exactly, if big brother likes her, is it any of your business?"

Meanwhile, on Fang Pingying’s side, they all walked out of the Police Station intending to go home.

However, at the doorstep, they bumped into Luo Zhiyong who happened to be rushing back. Seeing him, both Fang Pingying and Fang Xiu frowned; they thought Luo Zhiyong was rushing back to save Zhou Yunmei.

Fang Xiu impulsively asked, "Brother-in-law, what’s the rush in coming here? You’re not thinking of getting Zhou Yunmei out of the Police Station so soon, are you?"

Luo Zhiyong gave Fang Xiu a glance but spoke to Fang Pingying, "No, I came to pick up your older sister."

"Pick me up?" When Fang Pingying had just come back, she had already greeted both Luo Honglan and Chen Jie, saying she wouldn’t go and that it didn’t matter if Luo Zhiyong took the kids.

Luo Zhiyong nodded, explaining to her, "Hong Lan insisted on you joining; she specifically sent me to fetch you. Everybody’s gotten off and is waiting over there for us."

Actually, Luo Zhiyong had seen Fang Pingying hurriedly leaving and was worried about her traveling alone, insisting on following her back.

Moreover, with the kids there, if Fang Pingying didn’t return, there would be no one to look after them in the evening.

"Then let’s not delay, let’s go," Fang Pingying listened and immediately agreed. Then she turned to Fang Xiu and others, "You guys go back first, we will probably return tomorrow. Take good care of Haohao and watch carefully."

"Got it, go ahead."

Luo Zhiyong thought that if they took a bus again, they would certainly be late since the bus to Chen Jie’s house was not a public bus. It doesn’t only stop at stations but wherever someone hails it to pick up passengers.

So Luo Zhiyong found a vehicle similar to a minivan nearby and rented it directly, to be faster and because they still had to pick up Luo Honglan and others afterwards.

After the two got on the vehicle, they sat in the back row.

After a moment of silence, Fang Pingying looked at Luo Zhiyong and asked, "So, you’re really not going to deal with your mother’s matter?"

"As long as you handle it properly," Luo Zhiyong knew that no matter how angry Fang Pingying was, she was always measured in her actions.

She said she wouldn’t let Zhou Yunmei off easily, but she definitely wouldn’t be unreasonably hard on her.

Looking at him, Fang Pingying wasn’t sure when it started, but she felt like Luo Zhiyong had really changed a bit.

Previously, when they were together, his initial reaction to family matters was to fly off the handle, followed by a series of scolding about how what they were doing was wrong, and in the end, he would still think about how to help them solve the problem.

But in the recent instances, Luo Zhiyong’s attitude towards these bizarre family issues has changed a lot.

He was no longer getting angry or scolding; in the end, he was no longer eager to step in and resolve things.

Although Fang Pingying knew he wasn’t completely indifferent, like when he learned that Zhou Yunmei was in danger, he was still worried, but he had learned not to indulge them. He took a stand to let Zhou Yunmei know she could not continue to act recklessly.

If he had dealt with things this way when they were together, they might not have ended up divorced.

Perhaps, people really do change after encountering certain situations.

Fang Pingying smiled faintly and informed Luo Zhiyong about Zhou Yunmei, "Detained for three days, I’ve spoken with the people at the Police Station, they won’t make it hard for your mom."

Luo Zhiyong fell silent for a moment and then nodded, "Alright, let her stay there. It’ll do her good to receive some ideological education, her awareness is too low."

Of course, Fang Pingying didn’t believe that Zhou Yunmei would suddenly enhance her awareness after staying there, but it would definitely serve as a deterrent.

However, recalling the series of events from the past few days, Fang Pingying suddenly furrowed her brow and asked Luo Zhiyong, "Have you ever wondered why it was supposed to be your dad talking about Hong Lan’s engagement, but it suddenly changed to Xu He and your mom coming?"

"My mom said there was a sudden issue in the village that required my dad to stay home, but I guess that’s not the case," Luo Zhiyong also felt that something was amiss, "After dealing with Hong Lan’s matter, I’ll call back and ask."

"Make sure everything is clear, just in case your dad has any issues," Fang Pingying had a vague sense of foreboding. She knew Luo Dashan, who always felt he owed Luo Honglan, promised to help her with the engagement matters, and if it weren’t for a special circumstance, he would have come.

After thinking for a while, with his past experience, Luo Zhiyong speculated, "I don’t think it’s an issue, after all, they’ve been husband and wife for so many years. I guess my mom told another lie and deceived my dad."

Fang Pingying thought that was likely too, considering Zhou Yunmei’s cunning nature, plus Xu He, and Luo Zhiming following behind, Luo Dashan would certainly be no match.

So she said, "Handle your family matters yourself."

"Mhm," Luo Zhiyong nodded and fell silent, pondering the matter.

Suddenly, he looked up at Fang Pingying and said, "After this matter, I guess my mom won’t dare to make trouble at your place anymore. You take good care of the two kids in the future. If there’s anything at home, let Chen Jie or Guangsheng help. I might..."
