Rebirth: The Comeback of the Girl

Chapter 618 - 617: The Invaders Enter the Village

Chapter 618 - 617: The Invaders Enter the Village

After a chaotic scene, Gu Yi and her son were kicked out of the bathhouse by the female boss, disheveled and covered in dust.

As Gu Yi was leaving, she swore and cursed, "Pah! With the way you run your business, you’ll be shut down sooner or later! Even if you beg me, I won’t come back! I have money, I can take a bath wherever I want! And that despicable little *****..."

"Get lost, get lost, get lost! Hurry up and scram! My bathhouse would rather shut down than service a shrew like you! Go around and ask! Who else runs their business as lenient as I do! I wouldn’t have said a word even if you washed your dirty clothes here! And your son, what kind of boy his age still bathes with his mother?! No matter how handsome, without manners it’s all for nothing..."

"Who the hell are you calling mannerless, you... you... bloody hell..."

"I’m talking about you, what are you going to do about it? Don’t block my door and disrupt my business! If you infuriate me, I..."

Unable to win the argument, Gu Yi was infuriated everywhere when she returned to the wonton shop with her son!

As soon as she opened the door, she began to pick on the waiting staff who greeted her.

"What kind of service is this!? People come in and you don’t even greet them! If I were a customer, with your attitude, I would’ve turned around and left right away!"

Waiter A and Waiter B exchanged glances, then hurriedly explained, "We recognized that it was you and not a customer, so..."

"So what? You don’t need to greet me when I come in now?" Gu Yi’s eyebrows shot up, even more annoyed!

"No, no! It’s because you started talking as soon as you entered, so we didn’t get a chance to speak," stuttered Waiter A.

"Stop making excuses! If it were a customer, you would have greeted them first! If you’re slow to talk, practice more! Don’t just stand there doing nothing all day long..."

Seeing Gu Yi was about to start an endless lecture, Waiter B quickly interrupted, "The boss called just now, asked you to go home! Said he has something to discuss with you!"

"Why didn’t you say so earlier! Really! Useless, every single day! Take this stuff up to my room..." Hearing her brother had something to discuss, Gu Yi didn’t say another word and dumped her belongings on the table, dragging her son along as she prepared to leave!

But the little boy wasn’t having it!

"I don’t want to go! Uncle’s house is boring! Cousin is never at home! There’s no one to play with me!"

"We have to go! No one here can watch over you properly! Besides, we might even have dinner at Uncle’s house tonight!" Gu Yi knew that what her brother cared about most right now was the situation with Xiao Mei, so she already had some guesses. She figured he wanted to discuss the upcoming wedding preparations, so she refused to leave her son behind at the First High School location!

A child’s strength was no match for a middle-aged woman, and eventually, the little boy was unwillingly dragged away by his mother.

Upon arriving at the Gu Family home, both Gu’s father and Xiao Mei were there, and it was clear they were already deep in discussion. After sending her son to play inside the house, Gu Yi joined the conversation without hesitation.

The discussion took place in the living room. Seeing the adults in such a serious mode, the little boy knew he wouldn’t get to watch TV, so after scanning around, he dived straight into his cousin Jingjing’s room.

Jingjing wasn’t home, and the boy, who was usually controlled in every way, suddenly let loose and began rummaging through everything...

As dinnertime approached, Gu Qing just got home and saw three adults sitting on the living room sofa! At this moment, she didn’t pay much attention or think too much about it; after politely greeting them, she wanted to head straight to her room.

When she pulled open her bedroom door, she suddenly burst into a heart-wrenching roar! Her already terrible mood was now utterly ruined!

"Ah!!! Get out! Who allowed you to come into my room?!"

As the saying goes—kids around seven or eight are like cats and dogs, despising each other! Jingjing, this handsome little cousin of hers, was just seven and a half years old, not even done with his first grade at First High School.

That saying from the bathhouse owner surely hit the nail on the head—at an age where he doesn’t yet understand human affairs, he shouldn’t meddle in them!

He turned Gu Qing’s bedroom upside down; it looked as though it had been ransacked by a thief...

After Gu Qing screamed, she scared the wits out of him! But hearing his niece’s cry, Gu Yi immediately got upset, stood up, and charged over! "What are you screaming about! Your little cousin is still young! Why fuss over such trifles with him?!"

"He’s still young?! He’s already in primary school!" Gu Qing glared at her aunt angrily and pointed into the room: "Look what he’s done to my room! Did he think he was a bandit raiding a village?!"

"Oh come on! You’re such a big girl now! Just clean it up yourself! It’s just a bit messy, that’s all!" Gu Yi said dismissively and then waved at her son who was standing on the bed: "Come here! Come to Mom! Don’t get in the way of your cousin tidying her room!"

"Dad! Look at my aunt! This is completely unreasonable! Her son messed up my room, so why should I have to clean it up?!" Gu Qing wept with rage, tears streaming down her face as she complained to her father.

Gu’s father looked at his sister with difficulty, then stealthily observed Xiao Mei’s expression, his heart filled with covert disdain for his sister and daughter’s lack of tact.

Then he put on the peacekeeper’s hat and said: "Alright, alright! You and your aunt have such similar tempers, always at each other’s throats the moment you meet! Can’t you both just say less! So, where were we Xiao Mei?!"

Xiao Mei observed the character and temperament of her future stepdaughter without betraying her thoughts; however, she smoothly continued following Gu’s father’s lead: "Oh, we were talking about the banquet arrangements..."

Gu Qing didn’t receive the comfort she had hoped for and felt utterly sorrowful! She suddenly rushed into her bedroom, slammed the door fiercely, threw herself onto the bed, and cried out loud in pain!

But Gu Yi didn’t even bat an eyelid; she pulled her son to sit down on the sofa and seamlessly joined in the conversation her brother and future sister-in-law were having.

The little boy saw his mother ignoring him, so he started to fiddle with a small box he had been clutching in his hand. It was something he had rummaged from his cousin’s room but hadn’t managed to put back before hurriedly bringing it out with him.

Because Gu Qing had startled him with her shouting as soon as she opened the door, he reflexively hid it behind his back. Now, having just caused trouble, he didn’t dare wander into other rooms, so he sat quietly on the sofa, playing with this ’toy’.

He unwrapped, unwrapped, unwrapped! Peeling off layer after layer of packaging.

Finally, what he took out was a flat, white plastic stick resembling an ice lolly stick, with a small circular groove on one side of the head and a larger rectangular recess in the middle.

Jingjing’s little head was filled with big question marks as he flipped and turned the stick in his hands.

"How do you play with this thing?"
