Rebirth of the Super Battleship

Chapter 802: New World

Chapter 802: New World

“I am leaving. Are you sure you will not come with me?”

On that same mountain peak on Mars, Xiao Yu asked Zhang Shengya.

The night was as cool as water, a light breeze gently brushing past them. The sky was clear, and in the pitch-black night countless stars sprinkled the heavens. Those stars were the starlight of the small universe’s suns, reaching this place only after multiple reflections and refractions.

“I choose to stay.” Zhang Shengya said with a trace of sorrow. “Since you refuse to stay for me, then it would be meaningless for me to go traveling with you.”

Xiao Yu fell silent. After a long pause, he spoke. “Very well, staying here is also a good choice. The Divine Ark Civilization and the Pegasus Civilization will take proper care of you. Within this Milky Way Galaxy, you will not encounter any danger.”

“I still have one last request.” Zhang Shengya said. “This planet belongs to the Arrow Beasts, and I also want a planet of my own. On that planet, I want high mountains and flowing waters, blue skies and white clouds, and I also want many, many humans. Only then will I not feel lonely.”

“I will grant that.” Xiao Yu nodded and gave an order in his mind.

A small spaceship quickly flew over and opened its hatch. Xiao Yu took Zhang Shengya by the hand and walked into the ship with her. The spaceship lifted off rapidly, leaving the small universe. At that moment, the cabin door suddenly became transparent, and the magnificent spectacle of outer space flowed unimpeded into their eyes.

“That star over there is quite good. Its elemental composition is similar to that of our Sun, and its mass and size are also very similar. I imagine the light from it will make you feel comfortable.” Xiao Yu pointed at a distant star.

Zhang Shengya nodded. “That will do.”“Good.” Xiao Yu spoke as he piloted the small spaceship swiftly toward that star. At the same time, other ships were already moving quickly in various locations.

“This is the planetary template I have chosen for you. These are some of its parameters.” Xiao Yu said, waving his hand gently.

An image of a cold, dark planet appeared before Zhang Shengya.

“It is a bit larger than Earth, and its elemental composition is not very similar. But that does not matter, I am in the process of modifying it.” Xiao Yu said. “Watch.”

In almost the blink of an eye, dense swarms of spaceships and robots appeared above the planet. Violent explosions thundered across its surface, and the debris blasted out was quickly collected by the ships and thrown into space. The locations of these explosions had all been calculated in advance. The large craters blasted into the ground would become lakes and oceans in the future.

Countless robots were also digging tunnels into the planet. Through these tunnels, many pieces of machinery were transported to the core and to various locations deep in the crust, modifying the planet’s core and layers. After this work, the planet would possess geological activity similar to Earth’s, such as earthquakes and volcanoes.

“It will also have high mountains and hills, as well as ravines.” Xiao Yu said slowly.

Endless numbers of robots labored there. All kinds of large machinery were unloaded from the spaceships, carrying out what could almost be called earth-shaking reconstruction. The frequent explosions not only opened up oceans to hold seawater, but also carved out riverbeds and gorges. The excess debris produced by the explosions was transported away by spaceship, and the remaining rocks and rubble were piled together to form lofty mountains and plateaus.

Numerous ships brought over the resources this planet lacked from other worlds. Xiao Yu was remaking this planet from the inside out.

“It will have rain, snow, and streams. It will also have atmospheric circulation and four distinct seasons.” Xiao Yu said.

A vast number of ships converged from all corners of the universe. Packed within them were comets and asteroids whose main component was ice. Once they neared the planet, these comets and asteroids were dropped into those large basins.

Planetary engines were being constructed. These engines would adjust the planet into a suitable orbital posture and revolution period. Only then could it have Earth-like seasons, with spring and autumn shifting back and forth.

“This will be the moon.” Xiao Yu said.

Another planetary image appeared. It was a dwarf planet much smaller than Earth, just right to serve as a moon.

“This planet will become Mercury, that planet will become Venus. Then there will be Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus, and so on. I am replicating the entire solar system for you.” Xiao Yu said slowly. “After I leave, you will be the ruler of this world.”

Standing beside Xiao Yu, tears streamed down Zhang Shengya’s face. She only kept shaking her head, refusing to say a word.

The planet had already been moved to the vicinity of its designated star. This dark, icy world was finally bathed for the first time in ample starlight. The slightly yellow light of the star carried abundant heat as it shone on the planet, and the vast ice comets piled upon it began to melt. Liquid water appeared, and so did steam.

The planet had originally had no atmosphere, but that did not matter. Xiao Yu had already prepared ample materials for one. They were vast quantities of dry ice, liquid nitrogen, liquid oxygen, and other gases. Now, under the bright light of the star, these solid substances began to melt along with the ice comets that had fallen earlier.

The sufficient temperature caused many of them to sublimate directly from solid into gas. They mixed with one another, and together with the abundant water vapor, they floated up toward the sky. Yet they could not escape the planet, because the planet’s gravity bound them. So they could only remain aloft, becoming the atmosphere of this world.

Of course, at the beginning the atmosphere of this planet was still very thin. It would need a long span of time before it could reach the density of Earth’s atmosphere.

“It happens to already have a core mainly composed of nickel and iron, which saves me a great deal of trouble.” Xiao Yu said. “Under my modifications, its core will begin to rotate, forming a magnetic field strong enough to protect all life that will live on this planet. The movement of the core will also drive plate tectonics, causing earthquakes and volcanoes, forming mountains and canyons.”

Within the small universe, Xiao Yu had already built enormous biological factories. Clones using Zhang Shengya’s genes as the template were being produced in huge numbers. The genetic difference between human and human is extremely small; even between the tallest, most handsome person and the most wretched, shortest, and ugliest person, the genetic difference would not reach one in ten thousand. Therefore, Xiao Yu only needed to slightly modify Zhang Shengya’s genes in order to cultivate vast numbers of different humans.

“What dynasty do you like? Modern times or ancient?” Xiao Yu asked. “I need to implant the corresponding era’s memories into these clones.”

“I want a dynasty that has never existed on Earth.” Zhang Shengya said. “The level of technology should not be too high, about equivalent to Earth’s Song Dynasty.”

“Very good.” Xiao Yu agreed. “I will implant complete memories into these clones. I have arranged different identities, different personalities, different appearances and family backgrounds for each of them. Among these people, there will be princes born noble, rich tycoons, poor folk destined to live in poverty, and slaves. Everyone’s fate will be different. What kind of identity would you like?”

Zhang Shengya shook her head. “I want no identity. I will enter this world under circumstances where no one knows who I am.”

Xiao Yu nodded.

The main modifications to the planet were already complete. Only five days had passed. Some details still needed fine-tuning, and some parts would require the accumulation of time.

The climate on the planet was still extremely cold, because most of the heat from the star was being absorbed by the ice. Completely melting all of it would not be possible without tens of thousands of years.

“This will be the world you will live in. Of course, for now it is only a template.” Xiao Yu said.

After all work that could be done by direct intervention was finished, Xiao Yu cut this planet, along with its moon and its star, into the small universe. The small universe was quite small, so time flowed very quickly inside it. Seeds of life had already been sown on the planet, and over an immensely long span they would adapt to its environment.

Xiao Yu precisely controlled the flow of time. After one hour had passed in the real universe, he took this stellar system back out. By then, the planet had changed completely. Grasslands and deserts had appeared, along with many animals and plants. Its atmosphere had fully formed. Except for winter and the polar regions, there was no longer any ice to be seen on the oceans. Marine organisms were proliferating freely in the seas, and everywhere was full of vibrant life.

However, there were no humans on it yet. So Xiao Yu began another round of construction. Under his direction, large numbers of buildings appropriate to this dynasty appeared, towering city walls, palaces, villages, fields and farmlands…

Once all the construction work was done, the clones who had been preloaded with memories were all placed upon the planet. In that instant they assumed the identities and statuses Xiao Yu had assigned them.

The morning sun had already risen. In a dilapidated temple, a down-and-out scholar opened his eyes. He carried with him the travel expenses that all the members of his clan had scraped together so he could go sit for the imperial examinations. In a shabby thatched hut, a farmer opened his eyes, still remembering that his task for today was to go weed the fields. A young maiden opened her eyes, today was her wedding day, and the matron of honor was already waiting outside her door. A merchant opened his eyes, today was the grand opening of his shop, and he still had to hurry over early to preside over various matters…

Many, many people, along with the rising sun, resumed the daily routines they had maintained for a long time. On this entirely new planet, people with no real history were living in accordance with those ancient customs that had been passed down for thousands of years.

“This will be the world you live in.” Xiao Yu said with a smile. “If you ever need any help, you can call upon the Divine Ark Civilization at any time to come to your aid. Farewell, I am leaving now.”

Xiao Yu’s figure vanished. The small spaceship slowly departed, returning to the small universe. Zhang Shengya stood alone on a desolate, empty plain, staring blankly at the sky.

Beside her, Lorna, who had already taken on human form, softly asked, “Aya, where are we going?”

“Where are we going? Into this world.” she answered softly. Taking Lorna’s hand, she turned and said, “Come.”

Within the small universe, the vast fleet was contracting, preparing to pass through the Star Gate.

The entire solar system had already been removed from Xiao Yu’s small universe. Xiao Yu placed the Solar System beside that stellar system, letting the two star systems become neighbors. In his view, taking the Solar System on a journey toward an unknown future would not be appropriate.

“Divine Ark Civilization, farewell.” Xiao Yu said slowly. “I am about to leave the Milky Way Galaxy and head for an unknown future. The universe is vast, and once I depart, I do not know whether we will ever have the chance to meet again. All I can do is offer you my blessings here. Farewell, farewell.”

Under the gaze of countless intelligent beings, Xiao Yu’s small universe entered the Star Gate in its entirety and vanished without a trace.
