Chapter 443: The Meson
Chapter 443: The Meson
In the region outside this star system, in the endless void, a colossal spaceship was engaged in curvature flight, its position shifting constantly. The changes in its location were so rapid that at each point it stayed no more than a thousandth of a second. Because of its incredible speed, it looked less like it was flying and more like it was performing legendary short-range space jumps.
Its velocity reached nearly one hundred times the speed of light, and it was obvious that it was not traveling at full power. Which meant, if necessary, its speed could increase even further.
Its extreme speed and enormous size alone were enough to hint at its fearsome performance.
This was the Taihao Civilization’s spaceship, the very one Xiao Yu had seen twice before. At this moment, it lingered around the outskirts of the star system, refusing to depart.
While this vessel was shifting around the system’s edge, another colossal ship appeared elsewhere in the void. It was equal in size to the Taihao vessel, but its architectural style was entirely different, bearing not the slightest similarity.
Whereas the Taihao ship had an overall spherical exterior, this other ship bore an irregular structure, made of countless prisms and curved surfaces, forming a shape brimming with technological aesthetics.
It radiated a pure white brilliance, exuding a constant sense of holiness, as though it embodied all that was most beautiful in the universe, honor, dignity, goodness, light… and so on.
With the arrival of this ship, new transmissions began to circulate within the Guardian Civilization’s fleet.
“The Radiance has arrived. Special operations ships are in position. Short-range Four-Dimensional jump equipment is deployed. Data torrent is prepared. We are ready to begin the Neutron War Star seizure operation. Awaiting orders.”
“The Radiance is responsible for confronting the Taihao Civilization’s Meson, preventing it from interfering with our seizure operation. All other combat units remain on standby.”“For this operation, our civilization has plotted for so long, expended such vast effort, and even mobilized the Radiance, our flagship, to ensure success. Therefore, this plan must succeed, not fail. Any presence that poses a threat to our plan will be crushed and annihilated.”
The arrival of the Radiance had clearly drawn the attention of the Taihao Civilization. A transmission was sent from their colossal ship to the Radiance.
“Our Taihao Civilization is only interested in the Divine Ark Civilization. The Neutron War Star holds no value for us. We made this clear to you from the beginning of our cooperation. So why are you Guardians guarding against us so tightly? You even went so far as to deploy your civilization’s flagship, the Radiance. Tell me, has your Radiance been fully repaired? It seems during your battle with the Sweepers, your Radiance suffered severe damage…”
This message was swiftly received by the Guardian Civilization, which immediately issued a response.
“Enough nonsense. Everyone knows a Taihao Civilization is full of lunatics and madmen, whose actions cannot be predicted with reason. When that half Four-Dimensional Taihao from the Large Magellanic Cloud arrived in the Milky Way and attacked the Sweepers, we Guardians rallied several Level 6 Civilizations and nearly a hundred Level 5 Civilizations, nearly all the galaxy’s top forces, to participate in the encirclement of the Sweepers. That was the perfect chance. If you Taihao lunatics had joined in, we would have had at least an eighty percent chance of destroying the Sweepers’ Neutron War Star. But you fools chose to sit idle. Do you think the Sweepers will spare you in the future? Idiots. So who knows what insane stunt you might pull this time. To be clear, we do not trust you.”
The Guardians’ message was filled with violence and fury, clearly revealing that they bore deep resentment toward the Taihao Civilizations.
Indeed, this was the case. There were a total of three Taihao Civilizations in the Milky Way. If, in that war, even one more Taihao Civilization had joined the fight, the Sweepers would have suffered far greater losses than they did. If two Taihao Civilizations had entered the battle, the Sweepers would have been utterly defeated, and even their Neutron War Star might not have survived. Had all three Taihao Civilizations participated, then the Sweepers would undoubtedly have faced complete annihilation, perhaps even extinction.
It was a golden opportunity, one that could be said to occur only once in a thousand ages, yet the Taihao Civilizations still chose not to intervene.
“Sigh.” The Guardian Civilization’s message was answered with another deep sigh from the Taihao Civilization. “It is precisely because we experienced the failure of attempting to ascend to a Level 7 Civilization that we have become more cautious, able to see things more clearly. That is why we hold no interest in the Neutron War Star. To avoid attracting its attention, we have no choice but to scurry like rats, hiding constantly, unable to even directly intervene against the Divine Ark Civilization. Guardians, we do not believe your civilization will succeed in reaching Level 7. Your chance of success is slim. Perhaps you will not even rise to become a Taihao Civilization, but instead disappear into the endless river of time.”
“Enough nonsense. Once we obtain this damaged Neutron War Star and analyze the technology it contains, our civilization’s technology will make a great leap forward. Though it still won’t allow us to confront the Sweepers directly, we will no longer be as helpless as we are now. For this operation, we have made every preparation, even deploying the Radiance despite it still being unrepaired. Taihao, I warn you, do not interfere in our operation. Otherwise, we will make you wish you were dead.”
“I only wish to see the result I desire. As for everything else, I care not.”
“Very well. Then see that you do not break your word.”
Once again, silence fell between the two great civilizations. In the void, the Taihao Civilization’s Meson continued shifting position at great speed, while the Radiance shadowed it, trailing closely behind and faintly restraining its movements.
The clash between these two civilizations outside the star system did not affect Xiao Yu, who remained within. At this moment, Xiao Yu had already considered his plan in full and was beginning to execute the first step.
“The planetary engines can begin construction…”
Xiao Yu gave his first command. Building planetary engines was a task he was well-versed in; he had experience doing it many times before. With his order, tens of millions of robots began their work. They unloaded various machines from the ships, collection equipment, forging devices, manufacturing tools… everything necessary, all in place.
Xiao Yu had long since completed a full geological survey of this planet and drawn a precise map of its mineral distribution. Thus, the tens of millions of robots divided into many groups, each occupying a mineral site, using the precision equipment brought with them to begin the first stage, refining ores.
Beyond the mining bases, massive construction sites also began to rise. The minerals gathered from the collection bases would be processed there into all sorts of components for Xiao Yu’s use.
Now Xiao Yu’s computational power was far beyond what it had once been. With computational power came execution power, precise and efficient execution power. In the face of such ability, no construction project was too complex.
Identical construction projects unfolded simultaneously on both planets. Within a very short time, towering structures sprouted up like bamboo shoots after a spring rain. These planets were rich in resources, allowing Xiao Yu to obtain building materials on-site, greatly simplifying the project.
A new round of construction began in this strange binary star system, saturated with death rays, advancing with great momentum.
On one hand was the massive construction effort, on the other, the analysis of the technology within the damaged Neutron War Star. Xiao Yu continuously conducted tests, trying to extract something useful for himself.
The results left Xiao Yu extremely dissatisfied. He found the technology used to build the Neutron War Star was far too advanced, so advanced it exceeded his imagination. He did not know what kind of material could withstand the terrifying pressure and temperature inside a neutron star while maintaining structural stability. He could not fathom how its energy systems operated within a neutron star’s interior. He did not even know what kind of attack method it used. In all these aspects, Xiao Yu was utterly ignorant.
The only gain was that his research into the various scientific properties of neutron stars advanced significantly, raising his understanding to a new level.
“I am only a Level 5 Civilization, so I cannot unravel the technology of the Neutron War Star. But the Guardian Civilization is different. They have been a Level 6 Civilization for tens of millions of years, and their technological foundation is not something I can compare with. What I cannot decipher, they might be able to. If they truly gain possession of this Neutron War Star, even if they cannot repair it, they can still extract a lot of useful knowledge from it. The benefits for them would be incalculable. But the stronger the enemy grows, the weaker I become. Guardian Civilization, how could I possibly let you succeed?”
Xiao Yu thought calmly about this, then once again accelerated the progress of planetary engine construction.
