Chapter 497 Deliberately Picking Faults (Part 1)

As soon as the words were spoken, before Jiang Xue could respond, Ouyang Yi interjected, "Grandpa, don’t worry, I will make sure to spend more time with Snow."

The words ’Snow’ sent a shiver of discomfort through Jiang Xue, and she gave him an annoyed glare. Originally, she intended to keep her distance from this person with impure motives, but didn’t expect Grandma Shangguan to have a connection with the Ouyang Family.

Ouyang Yi did not mind Jiang Xue’s glare at all and flashed her a small smile.

Jiang Xue withdrew her gaze, ignoring him.

After sitting for a while and noticing it was getting late, Jiang Xue told the elderly folks she would go prepare dinner, then got up to leave.

Not long after she entered the kitchen, Ouyang Peng and Ouyang Yi excused themselves and left as well. Once they were gone, Jiang Xue came out of the kitchen and asked Grandma Shangguan, "Grandma, why did Mr. Ouyang come just now?"

Instead of answering, Grandma Shangguan took out an invitation from beside her and said, "Take a look at this."

Seeing the invitation, Jiang Xue understood immediately. It seemed Ouyang Yi was aware she wouldn’t come, so he used the patriarch to approach Grandma Shangguan.

With this in mind, she opened the invitation, and as expected, saw her name inside.

"Grandma, can I not go?" Jiang Xue was somewhat reluctant to attend the event. She didn’t know why Ouyang Yi went to such great lengths, or what his intentions were.

However, her intuition told her that nothing good would come of it. So, she wasn’t interested in attending at all.

Grandma Shangguan was naturally unaware of Jiang Xue’s concerns and spoke earnestly, "Xue’er, you’re still young and need to gain some experience."

Hearing this, Jiang Xue could only respond with an affirmative. She knew Grandma Shangguan had her best interests at heart. After all, even if she didn’t go today, with Mu Qiancheng’s rise or her own career development, there would be many such events in the future, and she couldn’t possibly avoid them all.

Seeing that Jiang Xue understood her intentions, Grandma Shangguan didn’t say anything more and simply put the invitation away.

The next day, Grandma Shangguan took Jiang Xue around Xu City to pick out a dress for her, then took her to get her hair done, before heading to the hotel where the Ouyang Family hosted their event, riding in Shangguan Wenbin’s car.

When the car stopped, Jiang Xue glanced at the familiar hotel, her eyes flickering. She never expected the Ou Group’s Spring Festival Gala to be held at the Hailong Hotel.

It seemed that today she really needed to be extremely careful, or she might end up in a difficult situation.

Getting out of the car, Jiang Xue and Shangguan Wenbin flanked Grandma Shangguan as they walked towards the hotel. Just as they reached the hotel entrance, Ouyang Yi came out to greet them.

Seeing Jiang Xue dressed up, a flash of amazement passed through Ouyang Yi’s eyes. But he quickly recovered and stepped forward to greet, "Old Madam, you’re here. Grandpa has been waiting for some time."

"Sorry to have kept you waiting," Grandma Shangguan replied courteously, then followed Ouyang Yi into the hotel. The lobby was already filled with many guests. Mr. Ouyang was chatting with a friend and, upon seeing Ouyang Yi bring Grandma Shangguan and the others in, stood up and said to his friend, "The distinguished guests have arrived."

As he spoke, he approached Grandma Shangguan, cheerfully saying, "Sister-in-law Shangguan, you’ve finally arrived."

"Brother Ouyang, I’m late."

"Not at all, not at all," Ouyang Peng laughed and then introduced Grandma Shangguan to his friends beside him.
