Chapter 1045: Thoughts
Chapter 1045: Thoughts
This was the dilemma for the four of them, thinking about setting a time to go to the county, then writing home to talk about the situation here.Actually, they all wanted to ask when they could go back. How could being outside ever feel like home?
Xu Chunshan and Shen Youjun didn’t think too much and fell asleep as soon as they lay down.
The afternoon brought the same work as the morning, and when they finished, the six of them found Li Cunshan and mentioned they wanted to make a trip to the county.
"Sure, after you finish the work on this cotton field in three days, you can go." Li Cunshan didn’t want to make it difficult for these kids either; they’re all still kids, and usually quite well-behaved without causing any trouble.
The six of them thanked him with smiles before heading back. Although going to the county would be tiring, they could buy things to improve their lives and hear about what’s happening outside.
They hadn’t even reached the educated youth spot when they saw a big truck entering the village.
They had been here for almost half a year, and they were familiar with the village’s situation.
Guo Shuling watched Chaoyang driving the truck, her heart full of mixed emotions.
This young man is indeed capable. His dad is the village head. He can drive a truck and is reportedly Master Wei’s apprentice. Everything outside the village is entrusted to him.
He’s already eighteen. If her family doesn’t allow her to go back, she might as well stay here. Li Chaoyang is an excellent match.
The village head’s family seemed easy to get along with. She had specifically seen the village head’s wife treat Li Xue exceptionally well, mentioning how she hadn’t had a daughter and loved pretty little girls.
Without mentioning their return, Chaoyang directly parked the truck at the master’s house door.
There was too much money on him; he didn’t dare walk around with it recklessly.
Upon hearing the noise outside, everyone in the house came out.
Chaoyang got out of the car with a bag on his back and saw the little girl looking at him curiously.
"Feifei, Uncle Han brought you some nice things, all in the truck."
"Thanks, Brother Chaoyang."
The driver did not get out of the car. There were still many things in the car; Chaoyang was there to deliver money, and after unloading a few boxes, he had to go to the pesticide factory to unload more.
"Master, the six boxes on top are for Feifei."
Everything Han Xiangjun prepared was for Feifei. Only one box contained foreign cloth for the kids, with some toys, but no food was brought since it wouldn’t last in the heat.
A few people unloaded the boxes, and Old Yang got in the car.
Chaoyang went inside just as Li Yungui and his brother arrived; no need to call anyone. The truck entering the village signaled Chaoyang was back.
"Everyone’s having dinner at home today."
Li Yungui shook his head, "No, the food at home is already prepared."
Jiang Xinyu, seeing everyone had gathered, put down her work and counted all the money Chaoyang brought over. The amount was correct, then leaving aside the transport fee for this trip, she took it inside.
Li Yunqiang had the tally too, so the three brothers took their leave.
After all, their son had been in the capital for over half a year, and they didn’t know how things had been going recently.
The wife at home was now envious of Chaoyang, saying Chaoyang was better than Xiang Dong. She wanted her son to come back.
They hadn’t even brought up the topic; it was a choice their family made. What face did they have to speak now?
Li Yunqiang knew he wasn’t close to his three brothers because his wife didn’t want them to be close; thus, he also distanced himself from them.
The nephews from the eldest brother’s family had been around for so long but had never eaten at their place. Though he would bring grain to the second brother’s house, he still felt embarrassed. Things had been this way for years, and it seemed unchangeable.
Last time, he sent a letter through Chaoyang to Xiang Dong and didn’t know what Xiang Dong would say. He was really worried. He could see that the nephew was doing exceptionally well now.
Having just returned from the capital, he was soon going to the provincial capital. Although it must be exhausting, the kids were still young and this was the time to gain experience; they might not have such opportunities in the future.
Although knowing the pesticide factory was about to be handed over, there wouldn’t be such chances again. But how could Wei Kaiyun not have arrangements for Chaoyang?
Along the way, Chaoyang answered Li Yungui’s questions.
"Uncle Fourth, this is the letter Xiang Dong wrote for you."
"Chaoyang, is Xiang Dong doing well there?"
"I don’t know, but I think he’s probably quite busy, right? After all, they’re shipping out very fast.
Mr. Han found about a hundred people in the suburbs to work together, releasing over a hundred units a day. Every few days, they ship out."
"So many?"
"Yeah, that’s what Xiang Dong said; they have records over there."
Both of them felt reassured now; their village also had a commission there. With Xiang Dong present, their minds were more settled.
Qu Xiaoli also knew her son was back, so she even brought out smoked meat to fry some pickles deliberately today.
She also fried a few eggs, after all, her son had a tiring journey.
"Old Fourth, stay for dinner?"
Li Yunqiang shook his head, "Second Brother, Second Sister-in-law, I’ll go back first."
Qu Xiaoli didn’t force him; she understood her brother-in-law and his wife.
Cheng Lin circled around his second brother. Chaoyang chuckled, "I didn’t bring anything back, you know. After unloading the truck there, we just ate at the canteen and came back."
"Second Brother, didn’t you bring anything back?"
"Nope. Where’s the time? Wasn’t it because I was rushing back? Mr. Han didn’t even prepare anything for his son, fearing it’d spoil on the way due to the heat."
Cheng Lin was disappointed, almost about to cry.
Li Yungui coughed from the side, and Cheng Lin zipped away like a flash, no longer pestering Chaoyang.
The family didn’t say much else, especially since the kids were around.
"Where’s the Red Army?"
"Gone to Jin Family Village for farming. Should be back soon.
Chaoyang, hurry and eat. You’ll have to go to the provincial capital in a while. They’re waiting for you to return."
Qu Xiaoli felt sorry for the kid, "Can’t you go tomorrow?"
"Dad, my master said the driver needs to rest today. Tomorrow night, three cars will come directly over."
Li Yungui also felt sorry for his son; it was nice that he could sleep at home for a night.
After dinner, Li Xue took them outside; she and Changhe needed to study; the younger ones went out to play.
Now only the three of them were left at home, and Li Yungui began asking about the outside world.
"Dad, the day we were coming back the inspections outside were too strict, thankfully we had the city’s instructions."
"Mm, you didn’t suffer any grievances, did you?"
"No, it just delayed us by one night."
"That’s fine. Afterward, everything we have will be handed over to the state.
Your master doesn’t want any benefits; he’d like each household in our village to send someone to become a formal worker.
Chaoyang, what do you think? Do you want to go?"
"I don’t want to go, maybe I’ll ask my master for his opinion."
