Chapter 1015: Birth
Chapter 1015: Birth
Old Yang went to fetch hot water in the middle of the night and heard the cries of children from other hospital rooms.Early the next morning, Old Yang brought some deep-fried dough sticks and the pig’s trotter soup that Zhang Qiu’e made in the middle of the night.
Seeing Zhao Xiaoli eat so sweetly, Old Yang felt relieved. His wife’s complexion had improved significantly, and her spirits were good. That’s good.
Last night, Jiang Xinyu made a pot of crucian carp soup. By morning, it had gelled into a jelly-like state.
"Old Wei, are you going to the city by bike to deliver it?"
"Sure, even if she hasn’t given birth, they still need to eat."
"Then I’ll make a few more pancakes, and with some cracklings, I’ll make scallion pancakes."
"Even if the pancakes are delivered, they’ll be cold."
Jiang Xinyu nodded in agreement, understanding the reasoning. However, they could be sent to the cafeteria to be reheated.
The whole family had fish soup for breakfast today. These soups were not rare, so the children didn’t think much of it.
Wei Kaiyun had already killed two chickens, prepared to take them over since sometimes it’s not timely to send them, and they could still make soup at the hospital.
Everything else was taken by Old Yang. After seeing his wife off to class, Wei Kaiyun rode his bike to the town.
Honestly, walking might be faster. He had no choice but to return home, put down the bike, and find Jiushang to take him to town.
By the time Wei Kaiyun arrived at the hospital, it was already noon. When Old Yang saw Wei Kaiyun, there was a satisfied smile on his face that Wei Kaiyun could understand.
"Congratulations."
"Yeah, I also have a son now," Old Yang sighed.
Wei Kaiyun handed the thermos and a cloth bag to Zhang Qiu’e, asking her to heat it. Even in the thermos, it was still a bit cold. The killed old hen was directly hung outside the window. Although it’s already thawed, the outside temperature was still very low.
Seeing Wei Kaiyun, Zhao Xiaoli suddenly thought she had no problems and wished she could go home if possible.
So while they were eating, she had Old Yang ask the doctor if she could go home.
"I’m already fine now. The bed here is too cold; I want to lie on my kang at home."
"Stay a few more days. The doctor isn’t in the hospital today; you’ll have to wait until tomorrow to ask."
Wei Kaiyun had finished eating, "Yes, staying two more days is no big deal. I’ll go back now, make a fire in your room, and you can come home whenever you want.
Nobody at home knows you had the baby yesterday. There was only a fire in your room yesterday. I need to go back and prepare."
"You see, Xiao Wei is saying the same thing. He has more experience than we do."
Eventually, Zhao Xiaoli agreed. Originally, she didn’t have many opinions and listened to the two of them, thinking it made sense, so she stopped mentioning going home.
After finishing lunch, Wei Kaiyun didn’t rest and had to walk back from town.
"Xiao Wei, why don’t you drive back and then come pick us up?"
"No need, I don’t know when you can be discharged yet. I’ll take the bus back."
After seeing off Wei Kaiyun, Old Yang came back to see his wife already asleep, thinking she had lost some vitality. He needed to find good things to replenish her.
Wei Kaiyun arrived home at five o’clock. By this time, Jiang Xinyu had already returned from class.
"How’s it going? Did Zhao Xiaoli have her baby?"
"She gave birth yesterday afternoon, a baby boy weighing six and a half pounds. Old Yang was overjoyed."
"That’s great news. From tomorrow, their room will need a fire, and when they return, the room will be warm."
"Yes, I know. Zhao Xiaoli wanted to go home today, but Old Yang talked her out of it."
"At this time, the hospital isn’t comfortable; the beds must be cold. Honestly, it’s not as good as being home."
"I already told them I’d make the fire when I got back."
At this point, the three children ran over. Finding out they had a new little brother, the three were a bit disappointed. They initially thought it would be a sister, but it was another brother, mainly because Shi Xian was too mischievous. The three older ones found it annoying.
They thought a little sister would be better, but unexpectedly, they got another troublemaker.
When Wei Kaiyun finished dinner, he used Old Yang’s stove to heat water for his wife.
The couple lay under the covers, "Did you see the baby?"
"I saw him. Old Yang complained he was too ugly, not as good-looking as Feifei and the others."
"Xiao Li didn’t hear that, did she?"
Wei Kaiyun laughed and said no, Old Yang said it quietly.
"How good-looking can a newborn be?"
"Our Feifei was beautiful from birth, and she’s still pretty now."
Jiang Xinyu admired the old man’s ability to lie with a straight face.
Feifei wasn’t pretty when she was born; she looked like a little monkey. But if her dad thought she was beautiful, then she was beautiful.
"Wife, when does school break?"
"Village Chief Li asked me about this. I think it’s almost time to break in another month. The kids don’t want to stop classes."
"I’m worried about you; you still have to teach. Du Fengying is pregnant, Zhang Qiu’e needs to take care of Zhao Xiaoli, and you have to teach, watch the kids, and cook."
"The kids are yours to handle. There’s Du Fengying for cooking. She’s older, but it’s her first child. Not moving around isn’t good, so the two of us cooking is doable."
"No problem, I’ll watch the kids."
Shi Xian is really a handful now; he just wants to get down and go out.
Whenever he’s awake, he’s never sitting still, always standing at the window, holding on and looking at the yard.
Jiang Xinyu really felt that watching the kids was the most exhausting. With Shi Xian being so troublesome, she found it more effort than the first two.
But Master Shang said it was better this way.
What’s so good about it? He’s strong and always wants to break free. After lunch today, when she came inside, he was already half-hanging off the kang edge. If his legs weren’t so short, he would have been on the ground by now.
If he’s awake, forget about him sitting still. Exhausting and worrying, you’d fear that just a blink, and he’d slip away.
Why is this child so mischievous? The little girl, on the other hand, is overly quiet, sitting on the kang playing by herself. The interaction between them is just Shi Xian taking her toy, and the little girl tearily holding back her cries.
This troublesome little guy. From now on, handling him is entirely up to Wei Kaiyun. This way, even if her body got tired, as long as she didn’t have to watch Shi Xian, she was satisfied.
This naughty boy was starting to even make his mom dislike him. When he learned to walk, he’d be even less idle.
She really hoped he’d suddenly grow to five or six years old and become obedient. Maybe then he’d be more well-behaved, though definitely not as easy as Shi Jing.
