Chapter 532: Very Reluctant
Chapter 532: Very Reluctant
Sophie Wilson’s heart warmed up, and her eyes curved into a smile as she said, "Mom, Dad, you really don’t need to worry about me. Do you think your daughter is the kind of person who suffers losses?"Clarissa Taylor chided her with a stare: "No matter how capable you are, you’re still just a child in front of us!"
If they’re not worried about her, then who would they worry about?
"Alright, it’s getting late, your dad and I are heading to work," Clarissa said as she stood up.
She also runs a gallery; while she doesn’t need to go every day, she still checks in from time to time.
Sophie Wilson got up to see them off but was pressed back down by Clarissa Taylor: "Why so formal with us? Just eat your meal."
Under her mother’s orders, Sophie Wilson had no choice but to obey, sitting down obediently, waving goodbye to her parents as she watched them leave.
Sophie Wilson took a bite of her bun, a happy smile playing on her lips.
She’s truly blessed in this life, to have so many people who care for her, so she absolutely must cherish them!
——
"You’re heading to the gallery? Not staying home with Sophie?" Mason Wilson asked as he drove.
"Didn’t you notice Charles isn’t planning to go to work today?" Clarissa Taylor said amusedly, "They just got engaged; there’s no way they’ve had enough time together. Why would I play third wheel?"
"Hmm," Mason Wilson pursed his lips. Charles Seymour is quite okay, he’s sincere with Sophie, but no matter how good he is, it doesn’t change the fact that he ’stole’ his daughter!
His beloved daughter was snatched away just like that, and he hadn’t even spent much time with Sophie yet.
Clarissa Taylor noticed Mason’s spirits were a bit low and asked with a light laugh, "What’s wrong? Missing your daughter?"
Mason Wilson didn’t speak, just nodded his head slightly to express his frustration.
Clarissa Taylor shook her head with a smile, as a father-in-law, he would inevitably find fault with the son-in-law.
No matter how well Charles Seymour treats them, he’s still the robber who ’stole’ their daughter.
"I’m actually happy," Clarissa Taylor sighed softly, "Before Sophie met us, she met Charles first. For Sophie to be so considerate... seeing her figure out what’s on our minds the moment we arrive, how much hardship must she have gone through to be so perceptive?"
Mason Wilson’s hands stiffened on the steering wheel before he reluctantly nodded in agreement.
No matter how much he dislikes Charles Seymour, he can’t deny that Charles truly cares for Sophie.
Fine, in acknowledgment of Charles treating Sophie with such care, he’ll accept it.
"Let’s pamper Sophie well in the future," Mason Wilson said, his voice a little hoarse, thinking about Sophie’s past made his heart ache.
Mason Wilson paused, then added with great reluctance, "And for Sophie’s sake, let’s also treat Charles Seymour well. That kid... has had his tough times too."
Although he took his daughter away and he really dislikes him, well... In front of him, Charles Seymour is just a kid, too.
Clarissa Taylor burst out laughing, "Mason, you’re so reluctant."
"Hmph, of course," Mason Wilson stuck to his principles, anyone who ’steals’ his daughter is a villain to be vanquished.
"But aren’t you off today? Why insist on going to the office? Isn’t it because you want Charles to have a good rest, so you decided to keep an eye on things at the company for him?" Clarissa Taylor leaned on the seat, her head tilted, smiling as she watched Mason Wilson.
