Chapter 519: Something Seems Off
Chapter 519: Something Seems Off
"Emerie, what are you doing?" Chaya couldn’t stand seeing her daughter being bullied by Emerie and immediately cursed at her, "If you’ve got the guts, then arrange the banquet hall on the ninth floor. You set everything up then.""You Wilson Clan saying this meaningless crap right now, if you thought James’s preparations weren’t high-class enough back then, why didn’t you prepare something better yourselves?" Chaya’s disdainful gaze swept over Old Mrs. Wilson and Old Mrs. Wilson as she deeply expressed her contempt.
"At least Sophie’s parents gave her something, what did your Wilson Clan give Ophelia? Not a damn thing. You didn’t even prepare the engagement banquet; it was all organized by the Seymour Family."
"Now you’re pointing fingers, but were you willing to contribute back then?" Chaya cursed viciously, "Stop taking advantage and pretending to be innocent here. Isn’t it disgusting?"
"You, who do you think you are?" Emerie had never been spoken to like this in the Wilson Clan, especially since Chaya used to be her close friend and always supported her.
Suddenly being rebuked by Chaya left Emerie momentarily stunned, not knowing how to retort.
"Who do I think I am? I am Ophelia’s mother!" Chaya sneered, "If you Wilsons look down on my Ophelia, we’ll leave this instant and stay at the Seymour Family. I refuse to believe James, who treats Ophelia so well, wouldn’t take her in."
"Go ahead and leave if you can! Leave! Who’s stopping you?" Emerie, extremely angered, pointed at the door and shouted.
"Emerie, shut up!" Old Mrs. Wilson reprimanded sternly.
"Dad, you’re telling me off?" Emerie stared at Old Mrs. Wilson in disbelief, suddenly shifting her anger towards another target, "Last time with Sophie’s incident, you made me apologize. Now you’re scolding me for someone else? Are you even my father?"
"How can you watch me suffer like this?" Emerie grew more and more aggrieved and upset as she spoke, eventually breaking into tears and throwing herself into Benjamin’s arms, crying as if the entire world was against her, "Benjamin, Benjamin, they’re all bullying me."
"Don’t cry, don’t cry, I’ll protect you, I’ll protect you..." Benjamin tried his best to comfort Emerie softly, then looked up at Old Mrs. Wilson and said, "Dad, Emerie is just thinking about the Wilson Clan, but this time we’ve truly lost face big time."
"The key is... Ophelia, are you sure James can handle Charles Seymour in the future?" Benjamin looked at Emerie worriedly, "From the looks of it today, the Seymour Family seems to be siding with Charles."
Benjamin didn’t believe all this was orchestrated by Charles alone; surely, it was the work of the Seymour Family’s head.
No matter who it was, something felt off about this situation.
If things continued this way, what future could James have within the Seymour Family?
An ineffectual person... seems hardly worth their investment.
"Ophelia, what do you think about this matter?" Old Mrs. Wilson asked Ophelia.
Before Ophelia could speak, Emerie’s cries suddenly grew louder, "Dad, what do you all mean?"
She was crying so sorrowfully here, yet they didn’t seem to care about her at all.
Old Mrs. Wilson was extremely annoyed; at such a critical moment, instead of being of any help, Emerie was causing chaos.
He exchanged a glance with Old Mrs. Wilson, who quickly went over to persuade Emerie to go upstairs.
