Chapter 509 Who are you?
Chapter 509 Who are you?
"I was just..." Ethan was about to come up with a grand excuse when Sophie interrupted him, "You were afraid that Grandpa Seymour would strip you of your power in the Seymour Corporation. Just like how you married Charles’s mother to get into the Seymour Corporation back then, now it’s still all about you, using so-called true love as a cover for your greedy, selfish, and incompetent behavior!""You..." Ethan’s face turned red with anger.
"What do you mean ’you’? You know you’re shameless, don’t you? Is this true love? If it were true love, would you have let her be a mistress and be insulted for so many years? If she were your true love, why didn’t you stand up to Grandpa Seymour and marry Charlotte? Wasn’t it all just for your own wealth and bright future?"
Sophie wouldn’t give Ethan a chance to speak, bombarding him with ridicule: "Aren’t you quite courageous? You directly severed father-son ties with Charles. Why so straightforward? Isn’t it because my Charles poses no threat to your power and money?"
"If you’re so capable, why don’t you change James Reed’s surname? Go ahead, change it." Sophie shook her head slightly, angering Ethan without a care.
"Sophie, this is our family’s business, none of your concern!" James shouted angrily, "What I am called doesn’t matter, I’m still my father’s son, we’re family!"
"Oh, you’re family, right? Go ahead and love each other then. You’ve already severed ties with Mr. Seymour, why are you pestering him?" Sophie raised a mocking smile and asked, "Why? See that Mr. Seymour has money and want to cozy up? Let me tell you, it’s too late!"
"Who wants to cozy up to him?" Ethan was furious, his finger pointing at Sophie finally landing on Charles, and he threatened through gritted teeth, "Don’t think I’ll take you back!"
Charles looked at Ethan as if he were watching an idiot.
"From earlier, my Mr. Seymour never planned to engage with you, it’s you who insisted on bothering him. What do you want from him?" Sophie coldly laughed and questioned, "Didn’t you just say you were family?"
Sophie deliberately emphasized the word "family": "My Mr. Seymour is not family with you, if you’re not trying to cozy up, then what do you want?"
Ethan didn’t know whether it was anger or embarrassment, his mouth moved, and it took him a while to squeeze out a sentence: "What right does he have to get engaged today?"
"Ha!" Sophie laughed sarcastically, "You’re really amusing, what business is it of yours when I get engaged with my Mr. Seymour? Who do you think you are?"
"Fine, fine!" Ethan’s eyes turned red with rage, the animosity bursting forth like daggers, wishing to stab the idiots who embarrassed him. Finally, his resentful gaze fell on Old Mr. Seymour as he roared, "Dad, you’re in on this to deceive me, aren’t you?"
Old Mrs. Seymour snorted coldly and retorted confidently, "What? Can’t I pick a good day for my grandson? We’re choosing an engagement day for our grandson in our own home, what’s wrong with that?"
"When did we ever say this day was for James to be engaged?" Old Mrs. Seymour questioned.
Ethan desperately tried to recall, and his face turned pale. It seemed that his parents never really said this day was meant for James.
"It’s a good day for engagement, and we picked it for Charles, but if you insist on choosing this day to get engaged, what does that have to do with us? Do we have to tyrannically prohibit others from getting engaged on this day?" Old Mrs. Seymour’s rebuttal made Ethan’s face go from green to white.
