Chapter 401: Still Don’t Believe It
Chapter 401: Still Don’t Believe It
"This is ridiculous." Emerie Wilson impatiently changed her clothes, muttering, "Big brother and the others are meeting James Reed’s parents to discuss engagement tonight; why are we being called to some lunch in the middle of the day?""Maybe it’s to talk about Ophelia’s engagement tonight." Benjamin Walton smiled while tidying Emerie’s coat, "Come on, let’s not be late."
"Hmm." Mentioning Ophelia Wilson made Emerie increasingly uncomfortable; that heartless Ophelia, despite all she’s done for her, now wouldn’t even do a small favor.
Hmph, does Ophelia Wilson think this matter is settled?
Dream on.
In the end, Benjamin has to cooperate with Peace Group, otherwise, she’ll cause a scene in the Wilson Clan, let’s see who ends up afraid.
Just as Benjamin Walton and Emerie Wilson were about to leave, the doorbell suddenly rang, and the housekeeper hurriedly came in and said, "Sir, a lawyer is here to see the lady."
"A lawyer is looking for me?" Emerie was utterly baffled, having never expected a lawyer would come for her; it was all so bewildering. How did she get involved with a lawyer?
"Let him in." Benjamin said, soothingly patting Emerie’s hand, "Let’s go, take a look."
"Ms. Emerie Wilson." Lawyer Newell smiled at Emerie once inside, "I’m Ms. Sophie Wilson’s lawyer. The last legal notice was sent to you; since there was no reply, I’m delivering it personally this time."
Emerie felt a rush in her mind, instantly panicking, "What legal notice? That’s sheer nonsense. Just because I said a few words, she demands an apology? Sophie Wilson is too much!"
"This time is different from the last." Lawyer Newell paid no heed to Emerie’s words, merely stating his point, "Because Ms. Emerie Wilson made the incident public online, it badly affected my client, so my client has decided your apology needs to be published in both the newspaper and online."
Emerie heard this, paling with rage: "Dream on! Sophie Wilson is too much!"
"Can’t I as an elder say something about a younger generation who’s spending recklessly?" Emerie angrily questioned.
"The issue now is, you aren’t an elder to my client." Lawyer Newell maintained his temper, unaffected by Emerie’s clamor.
"How am I not?" Emerie shouted furiously, "I’m telling you, I am Sophie’s elder."
"If that’s indeed the case, provide evidence, and you can naturally negotiate directly with my client. However, I’m here today to give this one last notice: if you continue refusing to apologize, my client will proceed to sue in court." Lawyer Newell ignored the frenzied Emerie, speaking steadily.
After finishing all he had to say, Lawyer Newell gracefully took his leave.
Emerie was livid, shaking Benjamin Walton’s clothes incessantly: "What does Sophie Wilson mean by this? Is she insane, demanding me to apologize in the paper!"
"Well... perhaps it’s better to discuss with Sophie and resolve it privately." Benjamin suggested.
Publishing it would bring disgrace not just to Emerie, but also to the Walton Family!
"Negotiate my ass!" Emerie cursed fiercely, "Let’s go, quickly to my mother’s home. I just don’t believe it, can’t I handle Sophie Wilson, that little wretch!"
Benjamin looked at Emerie without saying much, and drove to the Wilson Clan.
