Chapter 116: The investor’s identity is kept secret... and the director isn’t lesbian.

Chapter 116: The investor’s identity is kept secret... and the director isn’t lesbian.

Elara’s eyes stayed glued to the door, or rather, to the man leaning against it.

What is he doing here again?

Why does he always appear everywhere?

Then her gaze shifted to Relanie and she almost smacked her head.

Of course she’s here.

"Then tell me... what do you think should be done?" he spoke again, his eyes still fixed on Reine.

Elara’s gaze moved back to him. He had not even glanced at her since he appeared.

Reine stood frozen on the spot, her lips parting and pressing together again. Elara had never seen her so cornered before.

When Relanie noticed this, she quickly stepped forward toward Adrian and stood a little closer to him.

"Miss Relanie," Harris greeted with a warm smile while she gave a small nod, then turned her attention back to Adrian. "A missing bracelet was found in Elara’s room. We’re only trying to handle it properly."

Her voice sounded soft and concerned making Elara raise her brows at the sudden change in tone. Adrian did not look at Relanie. Instead, his gaze shifted to the prop master.

"You said you saw it before you left. And... she wasn’t around that time," he said calmly. "So explain to me how she would know where you kept it."

Elara’s lips pressed together as she stared at him.

Why is he speaking like this... in front of everyone... especially with his fiancée here?

"I didn’t say anything or accuse her. I only came to report when I couldn’t find it," the prop master said, his voice quite shaky.

"Truly," the director suddenly spoke up, stepping forward to stand beside Relanie as she looked at Adrian. "I remember she went straight upstairs last night when she came back. She didn’t even linger at all."

Adrian let out a quiet breath, and for the first time since he came, his gaze swept across the room and landed on Elara.

"Of course she couldn’t linger," he said flatly. "She was with me."

He did not look away immediately.

Elara’s heart jerked and she swallowed, a faint uneasiness rising in her chest.

How could he say something like that so easily? Even if everyone knew he was her sponsor... they would not think of it that way.

Before she could steady herself, he had already looked away as if his words carried no meaning at all. Then he turned his attention back to the director.

"That piece of polished glass isn’t worth the trouble," he muttered. "And even... if she wanted something better than that... she only needs to ask."

His words fell into the room like cold water. But no one could speak or move. Elara’s expression remained calm like nothing unusual had been said, but her heart was pounding so hard she was afraid it might be heard.

He did not say anything further. He simply straightened from the door, gave a small nod to the director, then turned and walked away. The director quickly followed after him.

Even after he left, the room remained silent.

Harris glanced around, then casually walked in with his hands in his pockets. He stopped in front of the minor actor, took the bracelet from his hand, and passed it to the prop master who hurried out immediately.

"Hey, pal," he said, patting the actor’s shoulder. "That’s some lucky searching you did. Boss will really be interested in how your brain works. Why don’t you come tell us everything about it?"

The actor couldn’t say a word as Harris casually draped an arm around his shoulders and led him out of the room.

No one dared to accuse anyone again, but the focus of the topic had already shifted. Even as the people began to leave, faint whispers lingered in the air and Elara could still catch pieces of them.

After everyone else had gone, Relanie remained by the door, her eyes fixed on Elara. Then she stepped fully inside and stopped in front of her.

"Everyone else has left. You should go too," Ziva said coldly.

"I want to talk to her so... give us a minute," Relanie replied, glancing at her.

Ziva looked at Elara who nodded after a brief pause. Then she scoffed softly before turning and walking out.

As soon as the door closed, Relanie wasted no time turning to Elara with a hard expression. "You really can’t control yourself, can you?" she said with a low scoff. "Even here... you still went to meet him... That’s how you got this role right?"

Elara’s eyes narrowed coldly at her question.

"I rely on my abilities in everything I do," she said calmly. "And this project is too big for someone to sleep their way into... Even if I wanted to use shortcuts, I wouldn’t even know who to go to since the investor’s identity is kept secret."

She paused for a second, then added without battling an eye, "And the director is not a lesbian."

Relanie’s lips curved at her abruptness. "The director is not a lesbian," she repeated, nodding in amusement.

Elara said nothing in return. She only stared at her indifferently.

"And you said you don’t know the investor?" Relanie asked, lifting her gaze to meet hers.

"Yeah," she replied, raising her brows. "Do you?"

"You don’t know him," Relanie cut in quickly. "Or you’re just pretending not to?"

Elara let out a deep sigh as she looked at her. "You’re really unbelievable you know. No one even knows him, so how am I supposed to?"

"You were in his house all night, and you’re telling me you don’t know him?" Relanie snapped, no longer holding back. "Just how shameless can you be Elara? Do you even know him at all to just step into his life like that? Do you even know anything about him?"

Elara’s chest tightened as she pondered on her words. Her eyes lowered in thought.

You were in his house all night, and you’re telling me you don’t know him.

"What do you mean by that?" she finally said, lifting her gaze to meet Relanie’s again. "It doesn’t make any sense."
