Realm of the Night God

Chapter 638: Foolishness

Chapter 638: Foolishness

At this moment, a large crowd of ordinary people had gathered in the eastern part of the city, holding protest flags and shouting slogans. Many of them, without regard for the shop owners' attempts to stop them, took advantage of the situation to loot and vandalize nearby stores.

However, only a few of these people were genuinely protesting. The majority were simply taking advantage of the chaos to gain something for themselves, or to vent their frustrations against the government and the world. In their eyes, the entire world owed them a debt.

There were also those who were simply there to join in the excitement, having never experienced such an event before. They thought it was fun, novel, and thrilling, and so they followed the crowd, without a care in the world.

In reality, these people were nothing but rioters, a group of thugs who had not yet awakened to their own ignorance.

The scene was one of complete chaos, with the police unable to control the situation. Many police officers were injured, and some even lost their lives.

The situation was spiraling out of control, and the police were forced to open fire to restore order. However, instead of calming the situation, the gunfire only made it more chaotic. The rioters, who had initially targeted only the stores, now saw the police as a direct enemy.

The police were vastly outnumbered by the rioters, and even with guns and ammunition, they were unable to suppress the violence. Instead, they found themselves in an increasingly dangerous situation.

Yang Haoran emerged from the space rift, finding himself in a large supermarket.

This supermarket was not unfamiliar to Yang Haoran, as he had often shopped there before. It was the largest in Lecheng, with a wide variety of goods, and he had frequently come to look for discounted items. As a result, he was quite familiar with the place.

However, the familiar supermarket had now become unrecognizable. Shelves were overturned, goods were being looted, and several supermarket employees had been attacked and lay injured on the ground. Some were unconscious, while others, although awake, were crying out in pain due to their injuries.Yang Haoran's appearance caused all the rioters to pause, although they had seen videos of such events online, they had never witnessed a demon or ghost, let alone a human emerging directly from a space rift.

After a moment of stunned silence, the rioters reacted, showing no fear but instead a curious gaze at Yang Haoran. Some female rioters even whistled at him, with an attitude of playful teasing.

These rioters were like young calves who did not fear tigers. They had seen videos of such events online, but had not experienced the tragedy themselves, and so they did not understand the desperation of those involved. Instead, they found it exciting and fun, and wanted to see it for themselves.

Therefore, when they saw Yang Haoran emerge from the space rift, they showed no fear, only curiosity.

Yang Haoran's gaze also fell on the rioters, who were all young, with the oldest barely in their twenties and the youngest still without a full set of teeth. Looking at them, he could not help but feel a sense of sadness for these young people who did not know the value of life.

"Do you find me interesting?" Yang Haoran asked, with a faint smile on his face.

"Heh heh, yeah, we're really curious. How did you do it? Is it magic?"

"Haha, I don't think it's magic. You just saw the space rift appear, didn't you? I think he must have torn it open with his hands. Haha, amazing!"

"What nonsense about tearing open a space rift? Do you think this is a novel? I think it was just computer-generated, some kind of projection. I don't know the details, but it's clearly fake, just a trick to fool you ignorant people. You should read more books, it's good for you."

The rioters chattered back and forth, their tone without surprise, but with sarcasm and disdain. It was clear from their words and actions that they were more curious than fearful of Yang Haoran's sudden appearance, but also largely unbelieving.

Some people are like this, as long as the knife doesn't cut their own skin, they will never believe that the knife can kill people. If someone tells them that the knife can kill, they will argue with you, using their one-sided understanding to refute you, sneering at you, and finally, they will disdainfully curse you for being uncultured.

Yang Haoran was not bothered by the young thugs' sneers and maintained a faint smile on his face.

"I'll give you a piece of advice: you're about to meet your end. Do you believe me?" Yang Haoran asked with a smile.

"Old man, are you afraid of being a fool? We're about to meet our end? Ha ha, tell us, how are we going to meet our end?"

"What's the point of arguing with him? If he dares to block our way, we'll teach him a lesson and make him lie on the ground, gazing at the stars. Don't think you can perform magic or illusions and consider yourself a master. I'll spit in your face!"

Yang Haoran didn't respond but instead pulled out his right hand from his pocket and pointed upwards, indicating for them to look.

"What's wrong, is there a ghost on our heads? Old man..."

The young thug's words were cut off as he subconsciously looked up at the ceiling, and his entire body froze, his sneering expression also frozen.

The other thugs, seeing his reaction, also looked up at the ceiling, and they all froze in place.

On the ceiling above them, a ghost was staring at them, its eyes fixed on them.

This ghost was not an ordinary undead or evil spirit but a Resentful Spirit that had been refined!

The Resentful Spirit's entire body was a deep purple color, with no hair or eyebrows, and a pair of black, oily eyes that resembled the ghost eyes of the Yin Division, but only slightly. Its body was smooth and shiny, like a monster with only skin but no hair, and due to the lack of reproductive organs and other distinctive features, it was impossible to determine its gender.

Although its gender was indistinguishable, it did not diminish the fear it inspired. Its purple skin, combined with its ferocious face, was enough to make children cry out in terror.

The Resentful Spirit's body was attached to the ceiling, its limbs twisted in the opposite direction, firmly grasping the ceiling like a human-shaped spider.

As it saw the thugs looking at it, it let out a scream, revealing a mouthful of sharp teeth, and its mouth was filled with a large amount of sticky liquid. When it opened its mouth, the liquid stretched between its teeth, making it both disgusting and terrifying.

The Resentful Spirit's scream brought the thugs back to their senses, and most of them let out terrified screams, fleeing in all directions with fear on their faces. However, there were one or two oddballs who thought this thing was just a fake, and they used their actions to demonstrate their ignorance.

"What's the hurry? Based on my years of experience, I can see that this ghost is a fake at a glance. The flaws are too obvious, and it can only deceive outsiders. If it wants to deceive someone like me, a professional, it needs to learn more."

A female thug shouted, warning her companions not to be afraid, and some of them, although still fleeing, stopped in their tracks, looking at the female thug who had spoken and then at the Resentful Spirit on the ceiling, hesitating for a moment.

To prove her words and demonstrate her high level of expertise in her field, the female thug pushed her glasses up with a calm demeanor.

"I'll prove it to you right now. This ghost is just a fake, and you're all making fools of yourselves. Don't continue to embarrass yourselves."

The female thug was very confident, and the attention from the crowd satisfied her vanity. She reached into her backpack behind her and took out a bottle of milk she had stolen, which she then threw at the Resentful Spirit above.

The Resentful Spirit let out another scream, and its sharp teeth directly bit through the bottle, spraying a large amount of white liquid onto the female thug's face. Before she could react, the Resentful Spirit pounced on her!

A blood-curdling scream followed, and a broken pair of glasses fell to the ground, the lenses already shattered, with white liquid still clinging to them.
