Chapter 652: Chapter 652: Don’t Be So Anxious
Even if she had anticipated Aiden Taylor’s visit, Lily Turner was still taken aback by his directness once he spoke.
You say you’re my uncle just like that, but what’s your evidence?
Even though her mother had confirmed she was a child of the Taylor Family, she wasn’t ready to embrace that truth, was she? She wasn’t prepared for a family reunion.
"Hello!"
She wasn’t ready to reconcile, yet she maintained basic politeness, greeting him courteously.
Lily Turner’s "Hello" made Aiden Taylor sense a cold, detached politeness from her, a sign that wasn’t promising. Could it be that this child, like her mother, resented the Taylor family?
"Your uncle is here today to..."
"Aiden! The child only found out about this yesterday, don’t be so hasty, we must take things slowly."
Aiden Taylor was eager to acknowledge Lily Turner, and Callix Linton understood his feelings well, but he didn’t agree.
This isn’t something that should be rushed; if pushed too hard, a good situation could turn bad.
Callix Linton’s reasoning made Aiden Taylor understand, and he agreed with Mr. Linton’s rationale, but his urgency had a reason.
In a few days, it would be his brother’s death anniversary, and he wanted to acknowledge his niece Lily Turner before then, so he could take her to his brother’s grave and tell his brother that this was his daughter.
Aiden Taylor glanced at Lily Turner, then turned his gaze to Callix Linton, who was seated beside him. After hesitating for a moment, he spoke heavily, "Sir! I can’t afford not to be hasty; Daxton’s anniversary is coming soon."
He addressed him as "Sir" instead of the old title, which he had not used since becoming one of Mr. Linton’s subordinates.
He used this term today hoping that Mr. Linton would consider their families’ long-standing friendship and help him acknowledge Lily Turner sooner to fulfill the dying wish left by his parents.
This long-unheard "Sir" plunged Callix Linton into a brief silence. Aiden Taylor’s weighty words further left him speechless for a while.
But on Lily Turner’s side, she couldn’t remain silent any longer; her emotions underwent a significant change, "My father’s anniversary? When is my father’s death anniversary?"
Her biological father had been dead for over twenty years, yet she didn’t even know when his anniversary was; having a daughter like her was unheard of.
Hearing Lily Turner’s question, Callix Linton, who was nodding silently, suddenly raised his head and looked towards her. Just as he was about to speak, Aiden Taylor, sitting beside him, responded first, "Your father’s anniversary is December 3rd, in five days."
Aiden Taylor concealed nothing, revealing Daxton Taylor’s anniversary to Lily Turner. It wasn’t something he planned to hide, nor could it be.
She would know sooner or later, and he felt it was better for her to know sooner, as it would aid in reconciling with her.
"When did you say it was?!"
Lily Turner’s emotions were much more agitated than before. Beyond disbelief and excitement on her face, Callix Linton and Aiden Taylor also saw surprise and shock.
Her reaction left both men puzzled and bewildered, completely unable to grasp what had transpired.
"December 3rd," Aiden Taylor repeated, looking at her.
