Easton Holmes held Lily Turner with one hand and a phone in the other. He managed to take the call and hold onto her without missing a beat.
Lily Turner didn’t know who he was talking to; he barely spoke, and she only heard him say two sentences: "Is it done? Make sure he keeps his mouth shut."
"Can you let me go now?"
Easton had just taken the phone away from his ear when Lily reminded him again to let her go. However, he acted as if he hadn’t heard her, still holding her tightly. "Easton Holmes! If you don’t let go, I really won’t make it in time, not to mention you have to rush back to the Military Department for work, too."
If he didn’t care about her being in a hurry, he should at least care about his own affairs.
Easton just silently glanced at Lily, not reacting to her words at all. He held onto her and headed toward the restaurant.
Seeing this, Lily became so anxious that she couldn’t care about anything else, stepping in front of Easton to block his way. "Easton Holmes! Aren’t I talking to you? Let me go!"
She yelled at him, struggling to shake off his hand.
"Don’t get so worked up. Let’s go eat."

As they approached the restaurant entrance, Lily’s phone rang. Surprisingly, before she could say anything, Easton let go of her hand and walked into the restaurant without another word.
Watching Easton’s figure disappear from sight, Lily slowly withdrew her gaze and took out her phone from her pocket. She glanced at it.
Seeing Freya Yeager’s name displayed on the phone, she didn’t dare to hesitate and quickly answered the call.
"Fre—"
"Lily! What on earth is going on with you? This opportunity to be on JN Television’s ’Intimate Partners’ is your best chance to increase your visibility. How could you tell Manager Xu you’re not going?"
Before Lily could call out Freya’s name, she was interrupted by Freya Yeager on the other end, sounding incredibly exasperated.

Freya spoke a lot in one go, and the more she talked, the more emotional and angry she became. She had to take several deep breaths to calm down a bit.
Agreeing to go in person, then secretly calling to refuse, she thought Lily Turner was just feigning ignorance with her.
