Chapter 290: Chapter 290: Wait for Me at Home Behaving
When Easton Holmes hung up the phone, Lily Turner had already adjusted her emotions and sat properly in her seat, quietly waiting for him to drive.
"Are we going to Grandpa’s house or back to our own home?" Easton Holmes didn’t rush to drive off but instead asked for Lily Turner’s opinion.
It was the first time such a situation had occurred, and Lily Turner was a bit surprised. In her surprise, she also felt flattered, "Didn’t you just tell Grandpa that we would be back shortly? Wouldn’t it be inappropriate for us to go back to our own home?"
When she mentioned going back to their own home, she spoke naturally, without feeling any awkwardness or unease.
"There’s nothing inappropriate about it; Grandpa can understand us." From Lily Turner’s words, Easton Holmes realized she wanted to go home. After all, he had already sent the surveillance away from their house, so he would take her home.
Although Lily appeared calm on the surface, he knew her heart was probably in turmoil and she was feeling terrible. She needed some peace and quiet now.
After Easton Holmes finished speaking, he settled into his seat, started the engine, and drove straight to their home in the Military District Compound.
The restaurant wasn’t far from the Military District Compound, and it didn’t take long for the car to arrive at their doorstep.
"Is it really okay for us not to go to Grandpa’s place?"
After the car stopped, Lily Turner didn’t hurry to get out but turned to look at the man beside her, her beautiful eyes filled with worry.
Upon hearing this, Easton Holmes turned to face Lily Turner, raised a hand, and gently touched her cheek, "You go home and rest. I’ll make a trip to Grandpa’s house. Will that put your mind at ease?"
If he didn’t make this trip, she would keep worrying, of that he was a hundred percent sure.
"What is there for me to worry about? I’m just asking casually." Clearly worried in her heart, but refusing to admit it, Lily Turner removed the hand touching her cheek, turned, and pushed open the car door to get out.
This girl! She’s shy!
Easton Holmes lowered the window on the passenger’s side and called out to Lily Turner, who was already walking towards the yard, "Stay home and wait for me; I’ll be back soon."
As soon as he finished speaking, he saw her wave her hand with her back to him before pushing the door open and entering the yard.
Though Lily Turner had her back to Easton Holmes in the car, she could feel him watching her. She subconsciously quickened her pace until she heard the sound of the car leaving behind her, then she slowed down.
After returning home, Lily Turner didn’t immediately go back to the room on the second floor but went to the living room instead. She sat down on the sofa, staring at the unopened TV, entering a dazed state.
This state lasted until the phone suddenly rang, which snapped her out of it...
Lily Turner slowly regained her senses, gradually bringing her gaze back from the TV to the source of the sound in her clothes pocket.
For quite a while, she made no move to pick up the phone, and it eventually hung up after ringing for a bit.
But the phone had no intention of resting and rang once again after a moment.
The phone in her pocket rang once more, and Lily Turner frowned slightly. This time, she didn’t let it keep ringing and reached to take the phone out of her pocket.
As she suspected, the call was from Alice Turner. If she guessed right, her sister had received a call from their mom.
Her mom must have said a lot of bad things about her; she could imagine the scene just from her imagination.
"Sis!"
Since it has come to this, she just had to muster the courage to face it.
