Chapter 283: Chapter 283: I’ll Wait for You at Our Place

As Lily Turner had expected, the call was indeed from Easton Holmes, and without a moment of hesitation, she quickly answered the phone.

"Where are you now?"

As soon as the call connected, before Lily could even open her mouth, Easton on the other end spoke first.

Hearing his words, Lily’s first reaction was that Easton had gone to her parents’ house looking for her, and she blurted out, "Did you go to my mom’s place to find me?"

Holding her breath, she quietly waited for the person on the other end to give her an answer.

"Yes!"

Easton merely gave a light acknowledgement, followed by silence. Because they were on the phone, Lily couldn’t tell if he was happy or angry, and from his voice, she couldn’t discern anything.

"I just left my mom’s place and am heading home now." She wasn’t sure if he had seen her mom; if he had, it would be terrible since her mom would definitely mention the divorce.

As soon as Lily’s voice fell, Grant Heath’s voice sounded beside her, "Lily! Didn’t you agree to have dinner with me?"

Earlier, when she said the first sentence, he already knew the call was from Easton.

"I..."

When did she agree to have dinner with him?

Lily was about to question Grant when Easton on the other end interrupted her, "You’re with that Heath guy now?"

His voice sounded much louder than before, and his tone was no longer as calm, rising with some emotion.

"We just happened to run into each other at the entrance to my mom’s neighborhood."

How was his hearing so keen? He could recognize someone’s voice just after one encounter.

Lily couldn’t care less about praising Easton now; all she felt was worry and more worry. She hadn’t even figured out whether he had seen her mom, and now this unexpected situation had arisen.

"What a coincidence?"

Easton’s voice was raised high, and his words were filled with thick skepticism.

Even though they were on the phone and she couldn’t see him, Lily could clearly feel that Easton was very unhappy now. As for why he was unhappy, she could guess a bit.

"I’ll be back soon, and can we talk once we’re home?" She couldn’t figure out how bad the situation was, and she felt it was better to discuss things face-to-face.

"...I’ll be waiting for you at our place!"

Easton was silent for quite a while. Just when Lily thought he wasn’t going to speak, he suddenly spoke, and his answer surprised her greatly.

Beep!

The sound suddenly came through her ear, snapping Lily back to reality, and she realized Easton had already hung up the phone.

With a long sigh, she didn’t have time to put the phone in her pocket. She turned to Grant, who was driving, and said, "Please take me back to the Military District Compound."

She didn’t have the mood to argue with him about what was just said; she needed to hurry back home to see Easton, figure out the situation, and explain it. If things got worse, it would be troublesome to explain later.

"What’s the rush to go back? Let’s eat first, then head back."

That man certainly picked the perfect time to call, not too early or too late, but right when they were together.

Grant continued driving along his route, showing no intention to change lanes or direction.

Seeing this, Lily became anxious, "I’ll treat you to a meal another day. Just take me back for now. If you don’t want to, I’ll hail a cab myself."
