Chapter 349: Don’t You Know Curiosity Killed the Cat?
In her hurry to hide, Lily Turner made a noise when closing the door. Although it wasn’t loud, Easton Holmes still heard it.
Thinking about how she had just been standing behind the door eavesdropping, his brows knitted tightly, and his steps unconsciously quickened.
"You’ll regret this sooner or later!"
Watching the hurried figure walk into the house, Amelia Linton was so furious she almost spat blood. Turning against the family for a woman like that, how did she raise such a son?
Despite her anger, she restrained herself from impulsively chasing after him, but she hadn’t given up on the matter either.
Lily Turner! I won’t let the bastard in your belly be born.
Amelia Linton cast a vicious glance at the door Easton had just closed, turned, and left the yard to get in her car and drive away.
After Easton walked into the house, Lily Turner had just reached the dining room door. Hearing him come in, she quickly darted into the dining room, and swiftly sat on the chair closest to the door.
Having rushed over hastily, she was a bit out of breath. Just as she was catching it, she saw him come in.
Taking a silent deep breath, she eased her somewhat hurried breathing and asked, "Who was that just now?"
After asking, she somewhat guiltily turned her head away, deliberately avoiding looking at him as he walked over.
"Didn’t you see just now?"
Easton walked over, pulled out the chair beside Lily and sat down. After sitting, he reached out and drew her, who was intentionally avoiding him, closer. "My mom was just visiting casually, don’t overthink it."
After Evelyn Taylor and the others left last night, he anticipated that his mother would come around, but he didn’t expect she’d arrive earlier than he thought.
He assumed his mother would come in the morning, but she came at just seven o’clock.
Hearing Easton’s words, Lily understood that he didn’t want her to know what his mom was actually there for. She had overheard their mother-son argument just now and could understand him.
"I was just curious who it was earlier, not that I meant to be sneaky." She said it was peeking, not eavesdropping, to assure him she hadn’t heard the argument between him and his mom.
Seeing that Lily’s mood seemed unaffected, the heart Easton had lifted when he entered slowly settled back into place.
"Don’t you know curiosity killed the cat?" He pinched her cheek, reddened from anxiety, and quickly withdrew his hand as she reacted. "Hurry and eat; otherwise, the food will go cold."
Before he finished speaking, he had already put a bun into her hand.
When Lily opened her mouth to say something, Easton made a shushing gesture to her, "Shh! Eat the bun!"
As he spoke, he pushed her hand holding the bun towards her mouth.
Seeing this situation, Lily decided not to say anything more. Right now, filling her stomach was the top priority.
As for other matters, she would ponder them after she had eaten well. After all, those issues wouldn’t be solved in a rush.
While Lily was eating the bun, Easton peeled an egg for her. Seeing the egg suddenly appear before her, she shook her head in refusal: "I..."
"No skipping meals. Today, I’ll watch you eat this meal." Easton directly interrupted Lily, as she had only eaten a little last night, and he intended to monitor her breakfast closely.
