Chapter 278: Why Can’t You Be More Careful?

Chapter 278: Why Can’t You Be More Careful?

Lily Turner chatted a bit more with Easton Holmes before hanging up the phone. After putting away the phone, she took a deep breath and moved towards the door.

When she walked into the house, Sophia Wood was already waiting for her in the living room. Hearing a sound at the door, she straightened up and looked towards it.

Entering the living room, Lily Turner sat down not far from Sophia Wood. Before her butt could even rest properly, Sophia Wood had already opened her mouth and asked, "Tell me! When did you start seeing that man named Easton? Before or after you were with Henry?"

Sophia Wood seemed very concerned about this question, asking it with seriousness and a very stern expression on her face.

"After."

Lily Turner blurted out without even thinking.

"After? Then how come you two got married so quickly?" Sophia Wood questioned Lily Turner’s explanation, her tone carrying a certain dissatisfaction toward Lily Turner.

Lily Turner wasn’t deaf; the dissatisfaction in Sophia Wood’s tone was so pronounced that it was difficult for her not to notice, "We got married quickly because we clicked right away and didn’t want any needless complications."

She could only make up such an excuse; if she told the truth, she would surely be scolded to death by her own mother.

"Clicked right away? You’re just messing around!" Sophia Wood still harbored doubts about Lily Turner’s words. She thought Lily Turner acted impulsively as a result of being provoked, contrary to what Lily herself claimed.

Lily Turner couldn’t quite grasp what Sophia Wood meant at first, so she retorted immediately, "How is getting married messing around? Is reconciling with Henry Thompson not messing around just because you say so?"

She couldn’t understand why her mother so desperately wanted her to be with that jerk.

Why was her mom doing this? No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t make sense of it.

"You’ve just met the man named Easton, haven’t you? Do you even know what kind of..."

"I’ve known Henry Thompson for a long time, and I see clearly now what kind of person he is."

Before Sophia Wood could finish, Lily Turner interrupted rudely. Getting back with Henry Thompson was absolutely out of the question. Even if she hadn’t married Easton Holmes, she still wouldn’t consider Henry Thompson.

Sophia Wood stared at Lily Turner for a while before slowly speaking, "You don’t understand someone you’ve known for so long, so how much can you possibly know about someone you’ve just met? You still argue when I say you’re messing around."

Her eyes remained fixed on Lily Turner, who was sitting not far away, showing signs of agitation.

"I know if I’m messing around or not," Lily Turner said, her heart filled with resentment and anger over Sophia Wood’s obsession with reuniting her with Henry Thompson, and deep down, she felt a tinge of sadness arising.

"If there’s nothing else, I’ll leave first." As she spoke, she stood up from the couch but didn’t immediately walk out, deliberately pausing where she was.

"I think you’re definitely confused. His mom doesn’t even agree with you being her daughter-in-law," Sophia Wood said, looking at Lily Turner with a gaze full of disappointment, "Why can’t you just be more conscientious and let your mom have some peace of mind?"

Upon hearing this, Lily Turner suddenly turned to face Sophia Wood with surprise and confusion on her face, "His mom came to find you?"
