Chapter 259: It’s All My Fault for Being Foolish

Chapter 259: It’s All My Fault for Being Foolish

"What’s going on?"

Lily Turner didn’t call Freya Yeager; instead, she sent a text message. She really didn’t want to answer Freya’s call. It wasn’t that she held a grudge, but what Freya did that day really made her angry and extremely disappointed.

After the message was sent, Freya immediately responded, but instead of replying via text, she directly called.

If she wanted to take the call, Lily wouldn’t have bothered to send a text earlier. Without much thought, she hung up on Freya’s call.

But as soon as she hung up, the phone started ringing again. She glanced at it; it was still Freya calling.

"I’m going out to take a call."

Lily got up and left the dining room. She was worried that if she didn’t answer, Freya would keep calling back, so she went out to see what urgent matter made Freya so anxious.

Watching the silhouette walking out the door, Easton Holmes was lost in thought for a long time until he couldn’t hear any noise, and only then did he slowly retract his gaze.

"Hello!"

After leaving the dining area, Lily answered the phone.

"Thank God! You finally picked up my call." The moment Lily answered, Freya’s first words were a thankful exclamation. Before Lily could respond, Freya continued, "Lily! You and Grant..."

"There’s nothing going on between Grant and me. You should know more about our situation than those reporters." Lily rudely interrupted as soon as Freya started, knowing what Freya was going to say next.

If she had known in advance that Freya was anxiously calling about this, she definitely wouldn’t have gone out of her way to answer.

"You didn’t call just to ask me about this, did you?" If that was the case, she would hang up immediately.

"No."

Although she couldn’t see Lily on the other end, Freya could tell that Lily was displeased with her for bringing this up, so she didn’t continue on this topic.

"Are you free tomorrow night? Mr. Feng..."

"I’m not meeting that man."

Lily once again unceremoniously interrupted Freya’s words, even more bluntly than before, "Freya! Why do you insist on making me meet Mr. Feng? Do you think just because Henry Thompson left me, no other man would want me?"

The other day, without her consent, Freya arranged a meeting, and today she called again to bring up the matter, with such urgency.

Realizing that Lily was even angrier than before, Freya hurriedly explained, "I absolutely didn’t mean it that way. I just thought Mr. Feng is quite suitable for you, and most importantly, he has a good impression of you, which would surely benefit your future."

She said a lot in one breath and was relieved that she hadn’t been interrupted this time.

"Freya! All these years of getting along seemed pointless. I always regarded you as a dear elder sister, yet you don’t understand me at all." At this point, Lily sighed heavily, "Forget it! It’s my fault for being too foolish."

All these years, she’d been too foolish, unable to distinguish between good and bad people, even more foolish to act selflessly for others.

Over the phone, Freya clearly heard Lily’s sigh and could clearly feel Lily’s unhappiness and anger. "Lily! I’m sorry! I just wanted to help, but I didn’t expect you to be so opposed to this."

She swore she had no ill intent, that man is indeed excellent, and importantly, he seemed genuinely interested.

She could see that he was serious.
