Raising A Few Wives in a Beast Apocalypse

Chapter 550 549: Manipulative Muku

Chapter 550 549: Manipulative Muku

"You're the leader" Jade replied with an eye roll.

"I know that but maybe you have some suggestions that are better than what I think. And this isn't even close to the first time I've asked that question" Muku retorted.

"I just never thought about it back then" Jade replied with a shrug this time.

"Sigh. Fine. Can we get back on track now? If no one has anything to say, I think we should split up in teams of two and scout around before launching our attack" Muku wasn't in the mood to argue with her so he let it go.

Seeing his reaction, Jade clicked her tongue. It seemed she was up to something and the plan failed.

With that said, the group split into pairs and carried out the task.

Muku insisted on going with Althea and the girls saw no problem with it.

Althea wanted to refuse but she couldn't think of a good reason so she could only look at herself getting consumed by the beast that was Muku.

That's how she saw him at that point.

After all, she had realised a while back that resisting him was a lot harder now that she was at the same level as him.

Sure he wouldn't force her if she said no. But the problem was she wasn't sure whether she would be able to say it. She kinda wanted it too after all...

.....

As the group scouted their surroundings stealthily and Althea was close to a mental breakdown, all the R9s all over the galaxy felt a slight shift in the air the moment the group returned.

They couldn't tell where it originated from or what it was about but they could feel that it definitely meant that the current calm would soon be disturbed.

And so, they all started quietly mobilising their manpower getting ready for whatever would come.

It was the intuition of R9s at play, and none of them ignored it...

Muku's group didn't know that while no one expected them, they were expecting them at the same time.

So the surprise attack might not be as easy as it should have been...

....

A few hours later....

Muku's group had gathered back together after finishing their mission.

They all sat down together discussing their next move and sharing what they found out.

While most of them were locked in, Althea was distracted. No, Muku didn't do anything weird.

In fact, he didn't do anything at all. Well, apart from speaking to her in relation to the task at hand of course.

He didn't get too close, touch her weirdly... Nothing.

It was almost like he wasn't the same person always trying to get with her back then.

This confused her greatly. She even started doubting herself. Did her looks decline after she was sealed? Or maybe he only liked her overwhelming power?

Did he have some weird fetish where he wanted to be dominated or something?

But no matter what theory she came up with, the answer was no.

And that confused her even more. She found herself stealing more and more glances at Muku trying to figure him out.

No one noticed this as they were locked in on the task at hand. No one but Muku of course.

After all, his actions were intentional. As Mrs C thought, he instantly went on the attack the moment he realised that getting her was now more possible than ever.

But he didn't continue using his prior method. That was for an overwhelmingly strong Althea. He had to be a bit forceful to be noticed then. But now? Hehe. The playing field was even.

And he knew that she liked him as much as he liked her. He had also gotten used to being chashed. So what would happen if he suddenly stopped?

What she was doing was exactly what would happen.

He was manipulating her into making the first move. Or at least initiating something. And the moment she does... She will be done for. He will go for the strike right there and then and finish her before she can even react.

Thinking about this made an evil smile subconsciously appear on his face.

"Ew. What the heck? Why are you smiling like that? So creepy!" Jade who noticed the smile that came out of nowhere while they discussed an important plan asked with a disgusted look on her face.

"Cough. Don't make it seem like it's a lot. I was just thinking of how the beasts will react after we take a potion of their territory before they can react" Muku replied in a slightly awkward tone trying to cover it up.

Fortunately for him, it worked since he had smiled like that before when dealing with beasts. So it didn't seem like a lie. Again, he was a pro liar.

Althea with her unsealed strength would be able to tell that he was lying even without paying close attention to him. But now no one could, so they all bought it.

Accept for Raya who was connected to him more intimately than anyone else.

In fact, every time he lies, she can tell and she knows. She just chooses not to say anything.

Not because she was nice but because it's blackmail material she can use later. It's always about benefits with her after all.

"Whatever" Jade replied annoyedly again.

For some reason, she was trying her best to annoy him recently. And she kept on failing.

"Cool. So from the information we all gathered, the beasts currently have 30 R9s positioned here and only 5 of them are PR9s. And since they have to worry about the other kingdoms, they can't easily deploy them all to end a fight. So if we were to attack, we would at most have to face maybe 15 opponents and since we're all peak, any of us can easily take two MR9s or lower at once. At the very least we can keep them busy long enough for others who have one opponent to finish and join. With that established, we will attack the main base closest to this place. Considering how quickly those of our power level can travel, reinforcements will be there instantly. So the battle will start immediately after. When that happens and everyone has their opponents I suggest not holding back. Try to finish as soon as possible. But be careful. We haven't faced outsiders for over twenty years now. So we might have gotten rusty. I doubt it but it doesn't hurt to play safe right?" Muku summarised everything.

The girls nodded in understanding and agreement.

"Great. Now let's set o... Oh, Althea, do you have something to say?" Muku was about to tell the group to go attack when Althea raised her hand awkwardly.

"Um, I'm participating in the fights right?" She asked in a low voice lacking confidence.

She wanted to fight but wasn't sure if she was allowed. And no one specifically told her that she could join so she wasn't sure.

"What kind of question is that? Of course, you're fighting. You're part of the team aren't you? I mean, isn't that why you had your power sealed? But I could be wrong. So let me ask you this. Do you want to fight with us? We would be more than happy to have you. In fact, the plan included you so if you back out, we would have to adjust it" Muku replied seriously.

"Umm, you're kinda pressuring me into joining now. But yes, I want to fight too" Althea replied.

Looking at her made everyone wonder where the majestic and ever-confident Althea they had met had gone.

What they didn't know was that she was good with strangers but bad with close ones. After all, she has only ever known one close one and it was a very long time ago. So she was rediscovering everything.

"Are you sure? You're technically on the same side with them as a Monarch after all. So if you want to back out, we will understand. In fact, I should have asked before making that plan. I'm sorry for that" Muku asked again.

"Tsk. I already said I will fight. And I'm not on the same side as them. None of my people are here. We already established this a long time ago didn't we? So why are you asking now?" Althea replied annoyedly.

Her confidence seemed to have returned after being associated with the other beasts even though they were technically associated even if she didn't want to be.

"Ah. Sorry. I will never make that mistake again. Of course, you're one of us. With that said, let's not delay any longer. Let's go and attack now while everyone's blood is still boiling for battle" Muku apologised then changed topics.

Althea nodded along with the others.

The group finally set out.

And they arrived at the target in less than a split second. They were countless times faster than the speed of light at that point, so of course they traveled that quickly even when they weren't trying.

The base they attacked was actually on the outskirts of the beast territory. There were no R9s stationed there. It wasn't necessary when they could travel instantaneously after all.

In normal cases it was fine, but not now. Muku's group launched an attack as soon as they arrived.

It was Emily who attacked for obvious reasons.

And that was her selective attack.

In an instant, she wiped out all the beasts R7s and R8s included without harming a single plant or any random thing there.

Only the beasts were erased out of existence leaving their cores behind.

Which was to be expected. Such was the difference between the higher ranks. R8s couldn't even process what was going on before they were destroyed by R9s...
