Chapter 548 547: Sinister lady!

"Hello, Son. Did you miss me?" The voice added teasingly.

Althea instantly felt a chill go down her spine. She didn't notice the person's presence until they spoke.

Hell, even when they spoke, she noticed nothing.

She instinctively wanted to fight or run. But her body refused to do both. Like she was faced with her natural predator she had no means of resisting.

All she could do was sit there and wait for death.

"Oh hello... Ah, sorry. Let me do something" The person who was obviously Mrs C spoke again before anyone could say anything.

As soon as she did, Althea who was frozen in place could finally move again. She even started gasping for breath like she was being choked before even though Monarchs can live without air. So even if they were choked it shouldn't do anything at all.

Anyway, now that she could move she immediately got up and under everyone's shocked gaze she ran to Muku's side and hugged him tightly with her eyes closed and shaking in fear.

It was as if she felt that he was her only salvation and running away was out of the question.

"Hello, mother... What did you do to her?" Muku asked tiredly while hugging Althea as a way of trying to calm her down.

"What? Why are you accusing me? I didn't do anything to her. In fact, I think very highly of her. It's just that I left my aura at a wavelength she could catch a glimpse of. A sad atmosphere instantly appeared as everyone could clearly see the regret in her eyes.

She wasn't giving anyone the chance to say anything or keep up.

What embarrassed Hope wasn't what she was doing or saying, well, that was part of it, but the major part was how she noticed that Mrs C wasn't shocked by the pregnancy.

This meant that she knew that her relationship with Muku was no longer that of siblings before they saw each other last.

Then again, she should have expected that from this seemingly omniscient and omnipotent mother-in-law of hers. But still, it was embarrassing...

"N...no. I don't have any cravings. I'm eating everything. And he doesn't need to do that. He's great as is and is taking care of me properly" Hope spoke in an embarrassed voice.

Everyone was sitting in the lounge with a cup of juice Hope had made for them.

Putting Muku in a troublesome situation was her favourite thing to do so she had to add that unnecessary information.

Muku didn't even say anything or react this time. She clearly knew that he was secretly going after Althea. So he was afraid she would directly say it if he reacted.

Hell, she already said that she knew who Althea was before, so this whole thing was probably just to mess with him.
