Chapter 723 - 712: The Male Supporting Character’s Bai Yueguang

On Friday night, "Floral Years" continued with its third episode as usual, which Ye Qiu, Su Sui, Chu Weiwei, and Jiang Yao watched together in the room, accompanied by a series of snacks, most of which were made by Ye Qiu using the hotel’s kitchen.

Su Sui, noticing Jiang Yao’s eager hand, quickly brought the plate to himself.

"What are you doing?" Jiang Yao’s hand froze in place.

"Aren’t you on a diet? You shouldn’t eat these," Su Sui said matter-of-factly.

This diet thing is still bothering him, isn’t it! He’s missing out on Ye Qiu’s delicacies!

"That’s true, Senior Jiang, didn’t you say your next role is a drug addict? You really shouldn’t eat too much." Chu Weiwei nodded in agreement, then reached for the plate, only to find her hand also coming up empty.

Su Sui hoarded all the snacks Ye Qiu made for himself, earnestly advising her: "You female actors need to maintain your figure, you shouldn’t eat too much either."

"I can exercise more, and after I finish this film I have no more projects, so I’m not afraid of getting fat," Chu Weiwei said firmly, without backing down.

Su Sui pursed his lips and remained silent, like a little critter guarding his food.

"Forgot what you promised me?" Ye Qiu suddenly leaned in and pinched his cheek, which had gotten a bit fleshier due to the good food recently, "I made these snacks for everyone to enjoy together, if you hog them all, how will they know my good taste?"

Upon hearing this, Su Sui felt somewhat reluctant and aggrieved, but under Ye Qiu’s gaze, he still pushed the plate out.

Seeing this, Ye Qiu revealed her little tiger teeth, looking very pleased for him, and sneakily pinched his little finger.

Feeling the odd sensation on his finger, Su Sui felt not so upset anymore, instead, his ears turned a shade of shy red.

Jiang Yao and Chu Weiwei were astonished, truly a case of one thing conquering another!

Jiang Yao felt a stir in his heart, deciding to find a moment to ask Su Sui how he managed to win over Ye Qiu so quickly.

Before the show even started, Ye Qiu held Su Sui’s hand and talked to Chu Weiwei, "Don’t you have any more projects lined up?"

"No, firstly there’s no good scripts, and secondly after working continuously for so many years, I’d like to take a break."

Ye Qiu nodded upon hearing this, then started recommending a drama her father was preparing to shoot: "I’ll recommend two novels to you, my old man has already bought the rights, if you like them, try and make a deal, they’re pretty light-hearted urban dramas, not too tiring to shoot."

"What are they about?" Having spent some time together, Chu Weiwei trusted Ye Qiu’s character, since it was her recommendation, it must be somewhat promising.

"It’s about the promotion of an urban white-collar worker, but unlike the usual cutthroat competition, the plot is very humorous, I personally think it’s quite good." Ye Qiu said, sending the names of the novels to Chu Weiwei while Jiang Yao listened and also looked up the novels.

"The main characters are a female manager and a silly rich young master?" Chu Weiwei, intrigued, checked the summary and then the reviews, the most common being a string of "hahaha...", which made her curious about what’s so funny in the novel.

"Why don’t you act in it yourself?" Chu Weiwei asked.

Ye Qiu casually fed Su Sui a piece of snack: "This role isn’t suitable for me, and I’m eyeing another production."

"Which other one?"

"It’s a historical drama, I’m playing a somewhat spoiled little princess. My acting isn’t that great, I can only play these kinds of roles," Ye Qiu said, also revealing the name of the novel she would be starring in.

"A fictional dynasty, huh? Are you not planning to air it on TV? Is the male lead a cold aristocratic family’s son? I feel like Su Sui would fit that role quite well," Chu Weiwei casually mentioned, and Su Sui actually took it to heart, secretly noting down the name of the novel to study later.

"The male lead hasn’t been decided yet, but would you like to play him?" Ye Qiu asked, turning her head.

"Hmm." Since Ye Qiu is the female lead, he certainly wouldn’t refuse to play the male lead.

"Aren’t you the one who said you wouldn’t join showbiz? Why did you get addicted to acting?" Jiang Yao complained with some annoyance, recalling how decisively Su Sui had rejected the idea when he first asked him.

"Look who’s asking him," Chu Weiwei retorted to Jiang Yao, not caring whether he was her senior or not.

However, rather than being upset, Jiang Yao was actually happy, Chu Weiwei was starting to fight back with him—what did that imply? It meant she was starting to treat him as one of her own!

No, they were about to finish filming this show, and after that, they would have no interactions. What if Weiwei started becoming distant from him again? How could he stay by her side all the time? Maybe he should also try acting in a TV drama?

Jiang Yao originally debuted in movies and has won countless awards over the years. If he really performed in a TV drama, it would only lower his stature.

But these twists didn’t seem like anything to Jiang Yao. At his stage in life, he possessed both fame and benefit. For the sake of someone he liked, couldn’t he be wilful once?

Alright, that’s the decision. If Weiwei plays that female lead, then he wouldn’t mind playing a foolish aristocrat—just to win her over.

He realized that to win his love, one had to be shameless like Su Sui, seeing how content Ye Qiu appeared with his blatant jealousy. He should learn from that.

As the four of them had different thoughts, the commercial break ended and the variety show officially started.

This time the scene opened with Ye Qiu, who incessantly complained as she got up and with a dissatisfied face set off with the crew to visit the set.

Meanwhile, the other half of the screen showed Chu Weiwei’s face, full of worries, seemingly concerned about Ye Qiu’s impending arrival.

The scene soon shifted to Cao Miaomiao who, unlike their dissatisfaction, was excitedly preparing for the upcoming party, and Li Xingzi, who was also happily preparing to go to a celebration party hosted by her friend.

Two worried faces and two smiling faces made a stark contrast.

Chu Weiwei chuckled: "Turns out we were so disdainful of each other back then."

Then the scene shifted to Ye Qiu arriving at the set, evidently unwilling to deal with Chu Weiwei, but upon seeing Jiang Yao, her face became nervous and excited.

Jiang Yao, watching the TV, said emotionally, "Back then you were just a fan of mine, who would’ve thought you’d stop being a fan so quickly!"

"I’ve fulfilled my wish, and Teacher Jiang, I will always support your work," Ye Qiu responded like a proper junior, which almost convinced Jiang Yao, if not for her cunning smile.

However, Su Sui was not as relaxed as them; despite being mentally prepared, upon seeing Ye Qiu eagerly looking at Jiang Yao, he couldn’t help feeling jealous.

Ye Qiu, sensing his mood, pinched the palm of his hand.
