Chapter 204 [As If It Never Happened] (6900)
Gui Geng watched the white cat beside Chen Yan with trepidation.
He felt an uncontrollable fear stemming from his very bloodline just standing in front of this tiny cat — though it was admittedly just psychological at the moment.
Lu Sisi was not home; she had gone out, reportedly because the school was on summer vacation. Some of her old dorm mates had not returned home for the vacation but stayed in Jinling Prefecture to have fun, so they organized a small gathering.
Although Lu Sisi had taken a break from school, she’d maintained good relationships with her dorm mates over the past six months. During that incident, her mates showed her a lot of care, and since the situation ended, they hadn’t lost touch.
Chen Yan sent a message to Lu Sisi, telling her he was already home. Lu Sisi replied almost instantly, saying she would be back soon.
Chen Yan put down his phone, took Big White to the bathroom, and gave it another bath. He then used a hairdryer to dry its fur.
"Do you eat cat food?" Chen Yan searched the web on his phone and glanced at Big White lying by his feet.
Big White lifted its head, jumped onto Chen Yan’s lap, and took a look at the colorful pictures of various big-brand cat foods on his phone screen.
Straightly, Big White gave him a disdainful look.
"Alright then."
Chen Yan sighed, then got up and walked to the window, sticking his head out: "Gui Geng!!"
"I’m here."
Chen Yan was taken aback — was this old turtle mimicking the answers of the home’s AI assistant?
Could you please adjust that phlegmy voice of yours first?
Chen Yan sighed, "Go to the fresh market and buy some meat, high-protein stuff — yeah, get more animal innards, like pig liver, duck liver, goose liver, 20 pounds each."
Gui Geng, lounging in the swimming pool in the yard, poked its head out: "Should I go now?"
Chen Yan didn’t respond, just quietly watched the old turtle. The old turtle immediately jumped out of the pool, rapidly transformed into human form, rushed into the house, grabbed the car keys, and ran off.
Chen Yan picked Big White up and placed it on his lap.
"How many secrets do you have, exactly?" Chen Yan stared into Big White’s eyes.
Big White grunted a few times, producing a purring sound from its throat — much like that delightful noise a pet cat makes when its owner gives it a good rub.
"What is that Demon Ancestors’ bloodline the old turtle mentioned?" Chen Yan asked Big White, "Well, you should be part of the Demon Race, right? But why haven’t you taken a human form?
Hey! Can you shape-shift into human form?"
Big White: "Purr, purr."
Chen Yan: "Can you speak? You have the Divine Techniques to change your body, so your Mana should allow you to refine your vocal cords and tongue to let you speak human language."
Big White: "Purr, purr."
Alright then!
Chen Yan sighed, realizing he didn’t know much about the Demon Race.
However...
Chen Yan suddenly jumped up, grabbed Big White from his lap, and tossed it onto the sofa.
I may not understand the Demon Race, but someone does!

Chen Yan dashed into the basement’s practice room, quickly drew a Mirror World Talisman, burned it, and entered the Mirror World.
Skylark’s house in the neighborhood was actually empty.
The little Half-Step Venerable girl was nowhere to be found.
Out for a stroll?
Chen Yan frowned, circling the house before leaping onto the balcony, then flying to the rooftop.
It was getting dark, close to nightfall.
After dark, staying outside in the Mirror World would significantly increase the level of danger elements.
This fellow used to never leave its dwelling in the dark — only leaving places with light sources and mirrors.
Chen Yan was a bit puzzled. He searched around the neighborhood but still found no sign of Skylark.
Nonetheless, he wasn’t overly worried, as this wasn’t some barren wilderness. In the city, even at night, there is no shortage of light sources and mirrors.
However — Skylark’s absence from home was somewhat unusual.
Chen Yan sat on the rooftop for another half hour before jumping out of the Mirror World, returning to the real world.
Walking down the internal roads of the neighborhood, he saw Lu Sisi coming from the direction of the main gate, holding a plastic bag and walking briskly inside.
Lu Sisi’s hair was tied in a ponytail — as Chen Yan previously mentioned she looked good with a ponytail, the girl often kept her hair like that since then.
It was now the season when summer was arriving. Lu Sisi was wearing a short skirt; her slim, long legs were white and straight, very eye-catching, especially given her age. She walked with a light, almost playful bounce, giving her a full-of-life vibe.
Chen Yan walked over with a smile, and Lu Sisi soon saw him, quickened her pace, and hugged Chen Yan’s arm.
"How come you’re back so soon? Weren’t you out with classmates?"
"Just window shopping with Yueyue and the others, not much fun, really." Lu Sisi shook her head, "You came home, so of course, I’d come back quickly to see you."
Chen Yan took the plastic bag from her hand and looked inside, surprised: "Roasted chestnuts?"
"Yeah, they smell so good." Lu Sisi smiled with pursed lips, "I’ll peel them for you when we get back."
"What made you think of eating these?"
Chen Yan remembered that Lu Sisi didn’t usually eat snacks like these before, especially roasted chestnuts.
Before she turned eighteen, misfortune seemed to frequently follow her, even with something like peeling chestnuts, which could easily result in her cutting her fingers — not an exaggeration, but something that genuinely happened.
