Chapter 1108 - 330: The Mortal World? (Part 2)
Chen Yan squinted his eyes, staring at the door before him. After thinking for a moment, he slowly stepped back two paces and turned away.
He discovered that his Divine Sense could not penetrate that door panel!
It was as if some kind of Array or Spell had generated a force on this door panel, or even on this wall, that he could not decipher, blocking his Divine Sense from probing within.
That dangerous feeling was incredibly real and extremely intense.
After hesitating, Chen Yan abandoned the thought of opening the door to see what lay behind it.
Divine Sense does not deceive oneself.
He turned around and returned to the bookshelves, quickly finding a stone pedestal over a meter high in the corner.
Originally, it had some utensils and candlesticks on it, but Chen Yan simply swept them to the floor with his sleeve.
He moved the stone pedestal next to a window, then took a clean set of bedding out of his Storage Jade Pendant and laid it on top.
The pedestal was just about the size of a single bed. After arranging the bedding, Chen Yan sat cross-legged on it, silently reciting a Spell in his mind, and began circulating his Primordial Qi.
·
During the process of circulating Primordial Qi, Chen Yan entered deep Meditation, clearing his mind completely.
Only after absorbing the Primordial Qi into his body and completing a full Circulation did Chen Yan slowly awaken from the meditative state.
Opening his eyes, he exhaled lightly.
Having just circulated the Primordial Qi, as it coursed through his body, his meridians relaxed, and the feeling of Qi fullness was at its most pleasant moment.
Just as Chen Yan exhaled a breath, he turned his head and was instantly startled!!
The old man was sitting not far away, casually on a stone bench ten steps from him, squinting and looking at him with a complex expression.
Chen Yan’s heart tightened!
When did this old man appear? When did he get close? Chen Yan was completely unaware!
One should know, although he was in Meditation circulating Primordial Qi, his Divine Sense was not slack. With his Cultivation, any movement or approach would alert his Divine Sense.
Yet the old man had sat so close, watching him for who knows how long, and Chen Yan hadn’t noticed?
"You are a Third Realm Cultivator."
The old man stared at Chen Yan, then suddenly spoke slowly.
Chen Yan frowned but nodded: "Yes."
"What a pity." The old man’s tone was deeply regretful.
Moreover, what made Chen Yan feel odd was whether it was his illusion or not—he felt the old man’s gaze at that moment seemed...
Seemed as if he were watching a fool do stupid things.
"What a pity? What’s the pity?" Chen Yan asked.
"You’re young, yet have reached the Third Realm, showing great talent." The old man sighed, shaking his head. "Unfortunately, you’re about to enter a cage."
Chen Yan’s heart tightened.
Third Realm Cultivator, about to enter a cage... What does that mean?
Chen Yan immediately countered: "Beyond Third Realm is the Celestial Human Realm, so, is the Celestial Human Realm a cage?"
The old man didn’t answer. He slowly rose and jumped down from the stone bench.
Seeing the old man about to leave, Chen Yan called out to stop him: "Wait a second!"
The old man ignored him and walked off, but this time Chen Yan wouldn’t let it go, he quickly went over to block his path.
The old man frowned at Chen Yan: "What do you want to do?"
"It’s not about what I want to do, but what I can do in this place." Chen Yan quickly said.
"You can read books, there are enough books here for you to read a long time." The old man spoke with his eyelids lowered.
"I can’t understand those scripts." Chen Yan said loudly.
"..." Only then did the old man lift his eyelids to glance at Chen Yan.
He was silent for several seconds, just as Chen Yan thought the old man would ignore him again, the old man suddenly reached into his breast, took out a thick booklet, and casually tossed it onto the nearby stone bench.
Chen Yan immediately reached for it, and as his fingers touched it, felt the material should be some kind of leather.
"What’s this?"
"Jiao Dragon Skin, it can remain uncorrupted for ten thousand years." The old man said with a curl of his lips: "I wrote the things inside this. You can use it to read the books."
With that, he walked around Chen Yan and returned to the door next to the wall, pulling it open.
Behind the door was a pitch-black void, Chen Yan purposely tried to cast his gaze to probe, but his sight couldn’t transcend that threshold!
"Don’t open this door, don’t disturb me! Otherwise, no matter who sent you here, I will make you suffer greatly." The old man said seriously as he turned back, then entered the door.
Bang, the door slammed shut again.
Chen Yan cursed silently in his heart, but still with strong interest, he flipped through the "Jiao Dragon Skin" booklet in his hand.
He opened the first page, seeing line after line of rough handwritten marks...
Chen Yan couldn’t help but shake his head.
This handwriting, how ugly!
The writing was clear though, even if slightly faded, it was mostly still intact and legible for reading without any issues.
After scanning a few lines, Chen Yan sighed.
"This is a... glossary."
·
This handwritten Jiao Dragon Skin booklet was indeed something of a glossary.
The contents were Ghost Talisman character patterns, all like the Celestial Book characters Chen Yan saw on the stone slab.
