Chapter 490 - 187 Just Want to See You One More Time, Morning Fright - Part 4
「The next morning.」
Li Yuan groggily rubbed his eyes and opened them. He saw that Zhong Tingyue was no longer beside him, though he could faintly hear soft voices coming from the living room.
Li Yuan got out of bed and left the bedroom, where he found Zhong Tingyue. For some reason, her face was flushed red, making her appear very shy. She looked at him and greeted him bashfully, "Li Yuan, you’re up?"
"Yeah!" Li Yuan smiled. She seems especially coy right now.
He glanced at Gu Lanxin. I bet my would-be mother-in-law whispered something to her...
Gu Lanxin acted as if nothing was amiss and simply smiled and nodded at Li Yuan, calling out, "Little Li, breakfast is ready. Go freshen up. After you eat, you two can go to school together."
"Okay, sure, Mrs. Gu!" Li Yuan smiled and nodded, trying his best not to stare at her.
If he hadn’t heard the strange noises from Gu Lanxin in the living room last night, he never would have guessed that this woman, who looked every bit a dignified noblewoman, would do such a thing by herself.
She’s certainly at a voracious age!
After breakfast, Li Yuan held Zhong Tingyue’s hand as they walked through Jinxiu Villas.
Zhong Tingyue glanced at the building ahead, her beautiful eyes fixed on Li Yuan as if she wanted to say something but hesitated. The hand Li Yuan was holding had begun to sweat.
Noticing her unease, Li Yuan couldn’t help but ask, "Little Moon, what’s wrong?"
Zhong Tingyue’s heart lurched, and she hurriedly shook her head. "Ah? I’m fine!"
"Really?" Li Yuan asked again.
"Senior, really, I’m fine!" Zhong Tingyue forced down the question she desperately wanted to ask.
Just as Li Yuan was about to speak, he noticed Zhong Tingyue secretly glancing toward the building up ahead. He faltered, puzzled for a moment, and then a possibility suddenly occurred to him.
The building ahead was his actual home, where his parents and Li Zixia lived. Some time ago, after his mother had returned to her hometown, he had brought Xia Zhijin to stay for a while. Xia Zhijin was the first girl to enter his real home. The next was Bai Weixi, who had visited just a few days ago, according to his sister, Li Zixia.
But Zhong Tingyue shouldn’t know about that, right? I feel like I’ve missed something.
Just as he was wondering how to explain things to Zhong Tingyue, a voice he knew all too well rang out from beside him.
"Bro, what a coincidence!"
"Li Zixia!" Li Yuan responded instinctively to his sister’s voice.
Looking up, he saw Li Zixia carrying a backpack, walking toward him with a pleasantly surprised expression.
Li Zixia had seen Zhong Tingyue a few days ago. At the time, she had guessed that this extremely beautiful and elegant girl must have some special relationship with her brother. Seeing them together today confirmed her suspicions.
Li Zixia winked and waggled her eyebrows at Li Yuan, as if to say, *Bro, hurry up and introduce me to my sister-in-law!*
Li Yuan failed to read her expression. He glanced at the time—it was already 7:30 a.m.—and, assuming Li Zixia was late, frowned and chided her.
"Zixia, what’s with you? Late again?"
Li Zixia pouted and retorted, "Stinky brother, our school has a new rule. We don’t have morning reading anymore, so classes don’t officially start until eight."
"You don’t care about me at all. Am I even your real sister?"
After complaining, Li Zixia turned to Zhong Tingyue, called out sweetly, and extended a small hand.
"Hi, Sister! My name is Li Zixia. I’m his younger sister!"
