Chapter 825 - 823: Never Suffered Like This (2)
Joseph Colson intended to reduce Charles Colson to a beggar. Naturally, he wouldn't let Charles leave with money. That's why he ordered people to smash up the room and drag Charles out of bed first thing in the morning.
Having rolled in the shopping mall for many years, combined with deep-rooted hatred in his heart, Joseph's methods were rather ruthless. A person who could kill his own father and stepmother, who raised him, clearly had no conscience. Although his mother's death was caused by his father's cruelty, it could also be said that his mother was too weak. The world doesn't stop turning for anyone, so there's no need to sacrifice one's life for a heartless man. If his mother had been stronger and divorced, taking half of the family assets with her, she could have still lived a glamorous life.
"Where is he now?"
Joseph was quite pleased with the information he received, a hint of a smile appearing on his lips. Unfortunately, it was a cold smile from revenge, which made one's scalp tingle.
"Second Young Master seems to want to find some work." A bodyguard cautiously replied.
Charles was eighteen now. Although he had no work experience, he had no choice but to find something to do to avoid starvation, using his own hands to support himself.
He knew that the Colson Family was firmly controlled by his elder brother, and he couldn't fight against them.
He had no intention to fight. After learning about how his elder brother's mother died, he understood that his brother was seeking revenge. If his brother thought driving him out of the house and refusing to let family and friends take him in would appease his hatred, he accepted it.
Charles wasn't aware that his parents died at his brother's hands. If he knew, perhaps he wouldn't resign himself to fate like this.
"Can he?" Joseph sneered coldly, his sinister ruthlessness once again exposed.
"Young Master, should we..." another bodyguard cautiously asked.
"Spread my word, anyone who dares to hire Charles Colson is an enemy of the Colson Family and will bear the consequences," Joseph said sinisterly.
The pen Joseph was playing with twirled like Monkey King's golden staff. His gaze became ruthless and cold; the hatred in his heart outweighed the bond of brotherhood, pushing him further down the path of revenge.
He wouldn't let Charles die so easily. He wanted his father and stepmother to be restless in their graves below, to watch their most cherished son reduced to a beggar loathed by everyone.
The Colson Family was the second-largest aristocratic family in A City, second only to the Ruiz Family. Joseph's orders effectively cut off all of Charles' prospects in A City, forcing him to beg to survive.
Of course, Charles could seek refuge with the Ruiz Family, but he was too young and inexperienced, ruling out the possibility of joining the Ruiz consortium.
So Joseph knew he held the advantage. Dealing with a brother eight years his junior was as easy as turning his hand.
"Understood, Young Master."
The two bodyguards dared not speak further and quickly agreed.
Joseph waved his hand, and the two bodyguards immediately exited the CEO's Office.
When only Joseph was left in the two-hundred-square-meter office, he jumped down from the desk, casually throwing the black pen onto the desk. He walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, opened it, and gazed down at the ground, feeling a sense of superiority and dominance over the world.
The office building of the Colson consortium wasn't as imposing as the Valence Group's, being only thirty stories high. But standing on the thirtieth floor, looking down, still offered a thrilling sense of height and dominion over everything.
Charles was so hungry his stomach was sticking to his back.
He walked along every street, going door to door asking if anyone was hiring, but from the beginning of the street to the end, no one was willing to hire him due to his lack of experience. Some, more astute, after a glance, commented that he wasn't suited for work, that he looked like a pampered young master, and told him to stop messing around and go back to being a young master. Some bluntly told him they wouldn't hire him because his brother had let it be known that anyone who did would be an enemy of the Colson Family.
These were all small businesses that couldn't afford to cross the Colson Family.
Charles' face was somewhat pale. The sudden change was hard for his young heart to bear.
Just three days ago, his parents had both died. He hadn't yet recovered from the loss of his parents when his brother ruthlessly threw him out. His brother hated him, hated him! The very brother who had protected him all these eighteen years actually hated him.
Having walked all day, his feet were blistered and sore.
In his eighteen years of life, he'd never faced such hardships.
It was evening now.
The sun turned lazy, but the heat lingered. While others felt uncomfortable from the heat, he felt cold to his core.
His brother hated him so deeply, he was tormenting him in this way!
So hungry.
The streets were filled with snacks, emitting all kinds of enticing aromas, making his stomach growl even more fiercely.
As he passed by an ordinary fast food restaurant, seeing the bustling business inside and everyone either eating or chatting, the aroma of the food made him swallow his saliva desperately.
Charles stopped, standing at the fast food restaurant's entrance, looking inside with envious eyes, his feet unwillingly taking him towards the restaurant.
At that moment, several black sedans slowly pulled up in front of the fast food restaurant. The arrival of the cars made Charles stop instinctively. When he turned and saw the familiar cars, his face turned even paler; they were his brother's cars.
Joseph rolled down the window, his sinister eyes fixing on his brother, who had become a bit disheveled in just a day, his lips curling into a mocking smile.
Charles averted his gaze, quickly turning on his heel to leave instead of entering the restaurant.
"Leigh," Joseph suddenly spoke slowly.
Charles halted, a look of surprise on his face. His brother had always called him Leigh. Could it be that his brother was here to take him home? Did his brother no longer want to hate him? No longer wish to seek revenge?
Eighteen years of brotherhood made Charles almost too naive in his hopes.
"Leigh, hungry, aren't you?" Joseph got out of the car, walked up to Charles, and, looking at him indifferently, waved his hand. A bodyguard following him immediately understood and went into the fast food restaurant, returning with a boxed meal.
Joseph took the boxed meal and handed it to Charles. Looking at him, he said, "In consideration of our eighteen years as brothers, let me buy you a meal. If you starve to death, the show wouldn't be so entertaining."
Charles' outstretched hand froze immediately.
He wanted to withdraw his hand with dignity, but his stomach kept growling. Ultimately, he extended his pale hand to accept the meal box.
But as soon as Joseph released it, the meal box fell to the ground, scattering the food everywhere.
Charles stood there, stunned.
Joseph spat a few times at the food on the ground, then smiled coldly, "If you don't want to starve, get down and eat it. Hahaha!"
