Seeing her intense morning sickness, throwing up everything she ate, Mila Anderson and Scarlett Taylor, both mothers themselves, felt immense sympathy. They gathered all sorts of home remedies for Julia Bluen to try, but none worked.

Aside from feeling sorry for Julia, the elderly lady remarked, "It's definitely a mischievous little boy!"

Mila Anderson loved to hear that. She most hoped that Julia Bluen would bear her a plump, healthy grandson. Of course, if it were a granddaughter, she would accept her just the same, although she wouldn't be quite as overjoyed in her heart.

"Feeling any better?" Glades Horne asked, lovingly embracing Julia.

Julia Bluen nodded. "A bit better."

Glades Horne then smoothed her short hair and straightened her collar before she entered the washroom to freshen up.

Even washing up could trigger her nausea, which was another form of torture for Julia Bluen.

Glades Horne felt both distressed and helpless. This was an essential part of motherhood, a testament to how truly great maternal love is.

Once Julia Bluen had finished freshening up and Glades Horne had also washed up, he took her hand and led her downstairs for breakfast.

Since Julia Bluen's morning sickness began, she rarely cooked for Glades Horne because the smell of cooking oil made her nauseous.

Glades Horne couldn't bear to see her suffer.

Outside the ultrasound room in City Center Hospital's obstetrics and gynecology department, Glades Horne sat alone, waiting.

Although some of his close friends owned hospitals with decent medical staff and resources, the best hospital in the city was still City Center Hospital. Even though it was a public hospital, he chose to bring his beloved wife there for check-ups.

The empty corridor was utterly silent, with no one else there.

It wasn't that there were few patients for ultrasounds; Glades Horne had spent a fortune to book the area temporarily. Until he and Julia left, it was exclusively for their use.

Fortunately, the ultrasound didn't take long. So, even if his actions were somewhat unreasonable, they didn't inconvenience other patients too much or attract any resentment.

"Glades, how is it? Are the results out yet?"

Mila Anderson suddenly appeared before Glades Horne.

Upon learning that Glades Horne was taking Julia Bluen to the hospital for a B-scan, Mila Anderson couldn't sit still at home and had rushed to the hospital as well.

"Mom, why are you here too? It's just a routine check-up; there's nothing to worry about," Glades Horne said to his mother, his brows furrowing slightly, his tone subdued.

"It's nothing. I was just out for a stroll and, since I was passing by, I thought I'd come in and see."

This grandmother-to-be was even more anxious than her son, the father-to-be.

The mother and son sat on the chairs, waiting for Julia to emerge.

The wait felt especially long, as if both were mentally counting each passing second.

Inside the ultrasound room, an experienced, middle-aged female doctor was examining Julia Bluen.

"Doctor, is the fetus developing normally?"

Julia's main concern was the fetus's development.

"Perfectly normal."

"That's good." Julia didn't ask anything further.

The examination ended quickly.

Julia waited nearby while the doctor printed the examination report.

Outside, the mother and son were still waiting.

A few minutes later, Julia Bluen emerged holding a color printout of the report.

Julia was also a little surprised to see Mila Anderson.

"Mom, what are you doing here?"

Mila Anderson and Glades Horne stood up and approached them. Mila, smiling, repeated her earlier excuse, then asked the doctor, "Doctor, is my daughter-in-law alright? Is the fetus developing normally? And is it a boy or a girl?"

The doctor answered with a gentle smile, "Mrs. Horne, please don't worry. The Young Madam is fine, and the fetus is developing very normally. As for the gender... well, it's only the ninth week. The fetus hasn't fully formed yet, so it's impossible to tell if it's a boy or a girl."

The gender of the fetus can be determined most accurately at four months into the pregnancy.

However, hospitals now have a clear policy against disclosing the fetus's gender to expectant mothers.

The Horne family was wealthy and could have easily found out the gender ahead of time if they had truly wanted to. However, at this early stage, even with all their money, it was impossible to determine the gender. It simply wasn't about money!

Glades Horne realized his mother had already asked most of what he wanted to know. However, the most important question remained for him, the father-to-be, to ask. This was the real reason he had brought Julia for the B-scan today.

He asked the doctor in a low voice, "Doctor, is my wife carrying a single baby or multiples?"

Before the doctor could answer, Julia Bluen smiled, placed the report she was holding into Glades Horne's hand, and said, "The results are right here. See for yourself. It's written in black and white, perfectly clear."
