Chapter 414 - 414_1
Morning sickness?
Glades Horne was stunned for a moment before he realized what was happening. He had been so nervous that he'd momentarily forgotten Julia Bluen was six weeks pregnant and would start to experience morning sickness. He initially thought she had an upset stomach or had eaten something bad. He was about to call Dr. Lei to check on her immediately.
"Glades, you ran in just now without your shoes on." Feeling a bit better, Julia suddenly noticed her dear husband was barefoot and couldn't help but ask with amusement.
"Our room is spotless; what does it matter if I don't wear shoes? I'm worried about my wife. I'd run in even if I weren't wearing clothes," Glades Horne quipped, a rare occurrence for him.
Julia Bluen laughed, imagining the comical sight of Glades Horne running in without clothes.
Truth be told, the atmosphere in the Horne Family had been particularly heavy recently due to a series of problems. Everyone was feeling very depressed.
"Julia?" Julia Bluen's eyes flickered, but she didn't respond, making Glades Horne worry. He thought she was feeling unwell again, so he immediately pulled her close and reached out to feel her forehead.
Glades Horne anxiously caressed her lower abdomen. At six weeks, it was still flat, showing no sign of her pregnancy.
"I'm fine, don't worry. Let's get up; it's getting late. Today, I need to inspect those dozen or so Chain Stores. That Trading Company is a real problem, too; it's still not on the right track. There have been barely any deals, so revenue doesn't cover expenditures. This month's wages will have to be transferred from elsewhere to pay." As she spoke, Julia Bluen got up and slid off the bed. She put on her clothes, then fetched clothes for Glades Horne and helped him dress.
Among the six companies she had taken over, the newly opened Trading Company was causing her the most headaches. If she couldn't turn things around soon, the company would have to close down.
She didn't want the company to fail. But right now, she was out of ideas. Unable to bring in business, what could she possibly do?
Fortunately, the other five companies had not yet incurred losses under her management.
She had taken over the companies more than a month ago. She had been busy with company matters, so she still hadn't visited those dozen or so Chain Stores. Even though the monthly profit reports were presented to her, she felt the need to go and see for herself.
"You don't have to pick me up at noon. I won't be at the company; I'll head home first to prepare some food with my mother for my sister and Marcel. My sister has been taking care of Brother Marcel day and night and has lost so much weight. It breaks my heart to see her like that," Julia said worriedly, picking up Glades Horne's tie and tying it for him.
