Chapter 78: Nemesis (2) Part III

Chapter 78: Nemesis (2) Part III

“Can we be counted as friends, May? Or, is there something more?”

Vincent teased with a knowing smile, making the audience hold their breath, some of the girls covering their mouths.

“Can you not make it ambiguous? People will misunderstand. You haven’t learned that, yet? Silly.”

“Oh, yeah?” The silly one let out a slight laugh.

Maysa purposefully acted tired with him, shaking her head. She held up a hand to tease him playfully before she smiled at a camera that was zooming in on her.

“Vincent and I are more like buddies, ...no, we’re brother and sister. There’s nothing more than this.” The clear statement made their fans put their hands on their chests in relief.

“I see. So, you guys have to get along very well, don’t you?”

“Yes, sometimes we do.”

“Now, I’d like to ask you about the battle of Lord Inferno. could you tell us about the feeling when you fight with the game’s newest boss?”

“To be honest, I think the boss’s movement speed was too slow.” The man said with a plain voice.

“And a bit too dumb,” Maysa added.

“It just kept attacking with full strength and nothing more. It looked like it could think just at the beginning, but after we could see its attacking patterns, it was not that impossible to beat it. I believe that if it’s assigned to be a boss of the Pride, it’ll be another one that is fun to hunt.” When they finished listening to Vincent’s criticism, the audience shook their heads almost in unison.

This party would be the only one that thought the boss was too slow and too dumb!

For anyone else, it was just too fast and, also, it could definitely think!!!

“The answer is really Vincent’s style,” June concluded as she let out a dry laugh. She glanced at Thada for a second, and the smiley young GM just nodded in response.

“And here’s the last question, what are you going to do next?” I mean, what’s your goal?”

The entire dome went quiet, being curious about the same thing.

What was the Vincent guy going to do next, after he just made himself famous over a night? Why had a skilled player like him never appeared anywhere before, even though he could be as outstanding as the four gods?

It was this moment that the amber eyes met with the light grey eyes, knowing what they were about to do next.

“Our next goal?” The gentle voice said casually. “Well, how should I say this? To be honest, I’ve never wanted fame or got interviewed at an award show like this. I just want to have fun with the game, hang out with my friends here, and just go on adventures in this fantasy world.”

He paused for a moment like he was waiting for Maysa to finish his sentence.

“If we stop, everything is over. If there’s no challenge, then we’re just birds locked up in a cage. That’s our motto.”

The explanation seemed to confuse the audience more than to clear things up.

“And what you’re implying is...?”

Hearing that question from the interviewer, the buddies let out a laugh at the same time.

“If we’re too scared, we can’t keep going. If we can’t keep going, everything stays the same.” Vincent started.

“Today we’re just normal, but tomorrow we can be a legend.” Maysa continued.

“And that’s our goal.” He said, pointing up at the sky above. “We will create a legend. A great one that our names will be remembered forever. We’ll become the heroes of the game. The ones who don’t have to follow any of the nonsense rules.”

“That’s what Vincent and I agree on, and we want to make it become real.”

“It means that you guys...”

“Yes, we’re going to form a guild.”

“The greatest guild in the Pride’s history.”

After Maysa’s words, the crowd started noisily discussing, after they could process what their real intentions were, then, reverberating acclaim came, like their words just triggered all eighty thousand players here to feel passionate instantly.

Their speeches did not sound arrogant at all, instead, they were full of dreams and challenges.

However, it was a dangerous challenge, too. Because announcing it like this could be taken as they wanted to suppress the four gods. It would sound like a dream of a mad man. But when Vincent was the one who said it, it suddenly sounded like the dream was just a reach away.

“Wow, it’s been so long since I heard someone say something like this.”

June exclaimed with admiration. She could not even hide her excitement. Thada was standing still. His golden eyes were hard to read, while his face was smiling slightly just like usual.

Vincent still did something unexpected as usual. He was challenging the four gods? Not sure if they were brave or crazy now.

“May I ask the name of your guild?” Vincent turned to smile sweetly at a camera.

“Nemesis. That’s what we’d like to be called.”

“The name is s...”

“So corny!” Suddenly, there was a shout that interrupted the ongoing interview. The owner of the voice was the man in a front roll of the grandstand. This man was huge, and his face was awfully pissed off.

He was one of the four gods who just got challenged right in the face, the bloody iron beast Marcus!

“I’ve never thought that you’re here just to make a scene for yourself. But, well, not surprised for a wannabe like you, though.” Marcus said as he was giving Vincent a defensive smirk. When Maysa started to notice that the situation was getting worse, she then whispered something to her buddy. And the buddy just responded with amusement in his eyes and his smile.

“I’ve never thought that one of the four gods like the bloody iron beast Marcus would sit in and watch my award ceremony like this.”

“Don’t get it wrong, kid. Who would have cared about you claiming the prize? Don’t be too narcissistic, just because you could defeat a noob boss.”

He said then jumped from the seat without anyone to stop him, even a GM like Thada chose to just stand and watch.

“No, I’m not. I never think I’m better than anyone else, even after I’ve killed the boss.”

“I wanna throw up!” It did not take long for him to be standing in front of Vincent in a provoking manner. But the masked man remained calm, still having a smile on his face.

“Do you think that I’d buy it, kid? Let me tell you something. If you think that you can use a situation like this to gain more fame for yourself, you’re so wrong!”

“What makes you think that Mister Marcus?” The other one turned off his microphone to be more private to talk to the man in front of him. So, there were only people on the stage who would be able to hear their conversation.

"Firstly, sincere people don’t hide their faces, and secondly, someone who is truly talented doesn’t need to hide their abilities like you’re doing now."

“I suggest you leave, Marcus. We’re on a live broadcast.” Finally, Thada got in to stop them. But Marcus just glanced at the GM, before he let out a chuckle.

“Stay out of this, Thada. This is about me and him. You’re a GM, so let the players talk.”

“But...”

“It’s fine, Mister Thada. I actually have something to talk to him about as well.” The cold voice of Vincent told the GM, before his fierce eyes gazed at the taller man, even though he had to tilt his head up to do so. He put on a casual smile that the taller one hated in the first place.

“About me taking advantage of the event to gain more fame, you might not be wrong, though,” he said with a small laugh. “But aren’t you doing the exact same thing right now?”

Hearing this sarcastic comment, the other one’s eyebrows twitched.

“What are you saying?”

“I’m saying that you coming out to threaten me is just an act to show everyone that you’re better and stronger than me. But I am very sorry for you because, first, I’m not a very good actor, so I can’t pretend to be afraid of you. Second, if someone’s actually that pro, they wouldn’t flex it around like this. Because the ones who do that will give me the feeling that they’re just good at their words, and not really at their skills.” Vincent finished as he shrugged, obviously looking down on the other. “Also, you don’t have to rush, Mister Marcus. We’ll have our official moment someday soon. Don’t be so panicked by my presence that you have to show it off like this.”

The provoking words kept continuing, making the other speechless with anger. This was the response that quite surprised Thada. He had never thought that the masked man in front of him would have had the guts to defy one of the four gods like Marcus right in the face like this.

Then Marcus let out a quick laugh, before making a sound in his throat sounding like ‘huh!’. They were looking at each other in the eyes, and Marcus was the first to shake his head.

“I knew that you didn’t look like someone who could communicate with a verbal conversation, damn it!” He yelled loudly, before bursting into a laugh.

“I guess I should try talking to you with my fists!”
