Chapter 683: Viola (1) Part II

Chapter 683: Viola (1) Part II

“Do you still want to fight in that state?”

“What?” Valentine gritted her teeth and finally got up in a sitting pose. “Are you kidding me, Shin? This man isn’t someone you can win over. Run when you still have a chance. I’ll stall you time...”

“...”

Shin did not answer. He only pointed at Valentine and a glowing cross appeared where she was sitting. The warmth slowly calmed her down. She could finally breathe almost normally.

“A healing magic?” Valentine raised her eyebrow and looked at her brother’s back.

“You just stay there and heal. I’ll take this from here.”

“Take this from here?” Valentine screeched. “Are you crazy? I just told you that he’s...”

“Don’t you understand me, sis? I said not to interfere.”

His answer was simple, and he was composed. He turned to look at Valentine for the first time and Valentine halted. The lavender eyes sparkled like never before. Moreover, her little brother was smiling. It was such a gentle smile.

Shin had never smiled like this at her before.

“If you understand, stay still, okay?” Then, he turned to Lucius again before he said softly.

“It’s time for me to protect you now. I won’t let myself be a brat all my life, you know?”

He walked away and insisted that Valentine stay inside his magic healing circle. He even cast a magic shield to protect her.

Shin tightened his grip on his Longinus. He stared at Lucius. The opponent only stood there and waited for the right moment. He looked a little surprised.

“This is surprising. I thought you were going to penetrate the alliance base, Shindanai?”

Lucius said smoothly. He seemed to know the opponent very well, unlike Shin who barely knew anything about him. Yet, he only had to look at him and sense it with a brain wave, he knew right away that this guy was dangerous.

So dangerous that a calm man like him had to swallow his saliva.

“You, too.” Shin smiled. “I didn’t think you’d come out so soon. I really thought you’d be the final boss for us to get to.”

Those words got the red-eyed man scoffing.

“But this is good. We don’t have to struggle. As far as I know, your members have all been taken down by my people.”

Shin glanced at Scarlet. The golden-haired girl frowned as if she was always ready to attack.

“Don’t worry. She’ll only be standing there.”

Lucius said. Shin looked back at him again.

“And it’ll be over before you know it, Shindanai, the number one hunter.”

Suddenly, Lucius disappeared as if he had never stood there before. In the blink of an eye, he was behind Shin. It was nothing like what anyone had seen before in this game!

However, the man with amethyst eyes did not flinch.

He held his breath and tightened the grip on his spear. Then, he spun and swung the spear at the enemy!

The blade was swung past Lucius’s face only an inch away. It seemed like the red-eyed man did not flinch about it either. Once he regained his footing, Shin pulled the spear back and jabbed the spear again!

That sharp movement got Lucius narrowing his eyes before he dashed to the side.

“Interesting, those senses.”

Then, Lucius flicked his hand and shot the explosive magic at Shin. Shin knew what he was about to do, so he spun the spear around and put it behind him. He raised his hand up for the impact.

BOOM!!

1,520

The explosion was furious, yet the damage was only a little. Once the thick smoke died down, it showed that Shin was not injured at all.

“I see how it is,” Lucius muttered while standing about five meters away from each other. “Calm Effect allows everything in the body to slow down. It’s the opposite of Lavi’s Rate Time. Every nerve will be calm, and you can even control your heartbeat, even though a gun was pointed at your neck. The advantage of it is that you’ll be calm and composed. Your brain will be able to work to its full potential, even though your decision is made a split second before you act.”

Shin did not say anything. Viola had told him already about this, so he was not surprised. However, Valentine just learned about it.

“Calm Effect. That’s why...” She murmured softly.

Then, Lucius smirked.

“But it doesn’t mean there’s no disadvantage.” He looked into Shin’s eyes. “It’s true that you’ll be calm and able to make a prompt decision in a split second, even though there’re hundreds of options for you to choose. However, it depends on your opponent. To make it simple, if there’s only death in your choices, your ability is useless.”

Lucius still did the same as he did with the three gods earlier. He explained the opponent’s ability and disadvantages so calmly. He had proven that he was always correct.

However, Shin did not care.

He looked so cold. He even smirked.

“Is that true?” He asked.

“I don’t know.” Lucius shrugged. “I don’t know that. I only know that my calculation has always been right. Do you want to prove it?”

Shin halted a little before he sighed softly.

“That’s interesting...”

Then, the young man raised his fist. A bright light glowed under his feet. Lucius went quiet.

A sacred magic circle?!

When did he cast that!?

This was the first time that Lucius showed surprise on his face. Maybe it was because the spell had to be written on the ground and that meant this kid had been planning this all along and leading him on it!

“Tsk!”

Lucius clicked his tongue and jumped out of the magic circle. However, Shin had already calculated everything, so he had been waiting for him at the right spot. Seeing that, Lucius gritted his teeth tightly!

Swooosh~!

Again, Shin’s spear was swung only an inch away from Lucius’s face. His calm face started to show expressions. His eyes glowed again.

He was getting excited!

Right after he dodged the blade, Lucius did not let the moment pass in vain. He leaned and swung his arm down, hoping to shoot the explosive magic at Shin in close range.

It was impossible to evade at that range, yet Shin did not think of evading in the first place. The crusader decided to use the shaft of the spear to hit Lucius’s arm to stop him from casting the spell. It worked so well that even Lucius was in awe.

Shin did not hesitate to get closer to him and swung the spear down. Lucius could barely dodge it. Of course, Shin did not let the chance go. He dashed at Lucius again!

“Remember this, boy, it’s not always good to attack right away when the opponent loses his footing.” Lucius smiled while he jumped into the sky. “Because when the opponent steps back, it doesn’t necessarily mean he loses his footing. It may only be a trick.”

Then, he pointed at Shin.

Red Rain

A small red magic ball was shot out of Lucius’s hand before it spun in mid-air and split into small rays that looked like bloody rain. They fell on Shin.

If he took the hits, he would definitely be a goner!!

However, while Lucius was smiling there...

A gentle voice came from behind. Lucius opened his eyes wide.

“Remember this, uncle, don’t be so confident in your ability because every trick can be overlapped.”
