“And why can’t I use my illusion with you, Emilia?”

Maysa grinned, even though she was panting a little and had sweat on her cheeks.

“I called Gaia, so your magic shouldn’t work anymore!”

Emilia shouted. She did not understand a thing. She could not calculate anything with this woman. Even every possibility was ruined.

Maysa scoffed.

“Gaia? Where’s that Gaia?”

Emilia halted. She opened her eyes widely and looked in front of her. She found nothing. There was no Gaia. The building where Maysa was standing was still there.

She called Gaia. Why was it not there?!

“My illusion doesn’t only control your sight and hearing, but also your consciousness.” Maysa let out a long sigh. “Are you not surprised at all why the building’s not been destroyed, even though it should have been since you used your magic?”

“....”

Emilia was frozen in place. She also wanted to know! Even though it was an illusion, Maysa should only be able to create herself and the building should be real. It should have crumbled down a long time ago!

“That’s because I made you feel like you’ve cast the spell, even though you haven’t. I can control and stop what you’re about to do and what you’re doing with my illusion.” She tilted her head a little. “It’s like now that I make you think you’ve called Gaia. You’re actually still in the middle of the casting.”

“...Y... You can do this much?” Emilia muttered.

She had met those who were skilled at using illusions before. However, those who could trick the enemy into believing that they had done something, even though it was only in their head, had to plan everything out in advance or they would not be able to prepare the illusion. And it had to be the one that the enemy was thinking about, too. This girl made it so easy.

“And now it’s a checkmate.” Maysa grinned. “I’ve been waiting for you to call Gaia because I have such an expensive gift for you, Emilia.”

At that moment, Nero quickly opened up the ‘party’ information. He saw Emilia’s HP gauge and opened his eyes wide in shock. She was even affected by so many curses!

“Only a short period of time and a killing machine like Ms. Emilia is doing this badly already?” Nero stuttered. “Damn it, which one of your monsters that you sent for her, Viola?”

Then, Nero was startled because Shindanai was dashing at him again. The tip of his Longinus shone terrifyingly!

The spear struck from below to above, creating a rift in the ground. However, it missed. Nero made himself faster with magic and dodged the other way. He did not look pleased anymore.

“Have you seen the sign, Nero?”

A voice came from the communication channel again. Nero knew right away that it was Allen, who was also struggling with Waree.

“I see it.” Nero smiled, yet sweating.

“Where the heck is Aaron? Why does he leave his partner like that?”

“Let me guess.” Nero adjusted his glasses. “His ex-partner must have joined, too, and they’re probably reminiscing about the past. That’s why he doesn’t have the time... no, more like he can’t work with Ms. Emilia.”

“..Sander.”

Allen said the name bluntly. Everyone knew that whoever Sander targeted only had two choices: struggle for life or die cruelly. Half a year ago, Allen could barely stay alive fighting this mad dog!

“What should we do? Should we go help? They seem to be in a worse situation.”

Nero asked. At that moment, Shin dashed at him, and he had to quickly guard himself with defensive magic. Shindanai did not care who he was talking to. He only thought about killing him as soon as possible.

“You talk like we’re doing fine here,” Allen said.

A loud explosion was heard from the other side. Nero turned to it and saw hundreds of light swords rush from the sky down on his partner. Allen had to draw another sword and struggle to clear them away. It did not do much since he started to bleed, and his uniform was slowly soaked in blood.

“I’ll talk to you later, Nero. This girl is as good as Natalie. Just a little flinch and I’m doomed!”

Nero sighed at that and jumped away from Shindanai again. The number one hunter swung his spear with all his might and created a huge rift on the ground again.

“What a power.” Nero swallowed his sticky saliva. “As expected of a crusader. They have more attack power than the Paradins like Marcus. This is bad.”

He broke into a sweat. He did not even have time to care about others because he would be doomed, too, if he left an opening!

“Are you done talking?”

A low voice asked and swung the spear to his side. His purple eyes glared at the opponent. Nero smiled at him.

“I apologize for my manner.” Nero adjusted his glasses. “From what I see, you’ve improved a lot from the last time I saw you in Dores. You’re like a different person.”

Shindanai smirked.

“I’ll take that as a compliment. I also owe you something from that time.”

Nero smirked. “It seems like everything’s going your way, but it doesn’t mean you two will win.”

Shin halted. They looked each other in the eye. He knew that it was only a provocation, but Nero’s eyes looked pretty confident. No, it was probably a plan. From the look of it, Nero seemed to be a fighter with a brain like Maysa.

However, it was not a reason for him to worry!

The tall man dashed at his opponent again. Nero smirked and was prepared for that. The first hit was guarded with the magic shield. The crusader did not lose his attempt. His attack got more and more powerful that the shield started to crack.

The man with long brown hair gritted his teeth. He could not help but evade. Once he regained his footing, he quickly cast a spell again.

A big red ray came out of his palm. However, it was shocking that Shindanai did not even think about dodging it. He stood there and prepared for the impact. He held on to his spear tightly and brushed Nero’s magic ray off so easily. The eyes behind the silver-framed glasses were opened widely.

“That easy?! What’s with that spear?!”
