Chapter 577: Announcing The War Part III
Chapter 577: Announcing The War Part III
Clank!
A beer bottle blew past them and shattered when it hit the rock. The two hotheaded men quickly turned to the source with a surprised face.
“Humans are talking, you dogs can go fight somewhere else.”
Baron yelled loudly at them. She pointed at them with a chicken drumstick in her hand.
Both men looked each other in the eye and shrugged awkwardly.
Maysa was happy that at least Baron was a sane one here. If she did not stop them, Wisana and Sander would totally go for another round, even though they had had so much earlier that Tunwa and Manoch cheered so loudly. The girls could only sigh.
Baron let out a long sigh.
“Ah, I’m sorry for asking, but are you and Mr. Sander friends?”
Maysa asked with a puzzled face. She was holding a juice glass in her hands.
Baron smiled at her. “Yes. Although I don’t really want to be.”
She glared at the childish man.
“Hey, why did you say that, lady.”
“Isn’t that the truth?” The masked lady grinned.
Sander scoffed.
“Hey, uncle. I want to ask you something, too.” Wisana stared at him.
“What is it again this time, kid?”
“The man we fought with when we were travelling through the west ocean, is he your acquaintance?”
Hearing that, Sander halted. Wisana was talking about Aaron and Emilia. Sander looked at Baron as if to ask for her suggestion. Baron nodded.
“Yeah, they’re my friends.”
Sander answered calmly. Wisana smiled at him before he opened the information screen and threw images up in the air for everyone to see.
“These people, too?” Wisana said. “Lucius, Aaron, and Scarlet.”
He expanded the images, so everyone could see them more clearly. He, then, took out another photo and threw it in front of Sander.
“And that... Sander The Mad Dog.”
Wisana grabbed another photo and threw it at Baron this time. Everyone was startled so much since they did not expect that he would dare to do it. However, when they saw the resemblance between the masked lady and the woman in the photo, they fell into silence.
“And lastly, Viola The War Goddess,” Wisana smirked. “Of course, you all know each other because you were in the Dominion guild together, right, Mr. Sander and Ms. Viola?”
Hearing that, Sander grinned. Baron scoffed and turned the other way to smile. They seemed to like the boy’s ability to see through things so quickly.
“You checked on them?” Sander asked.
“Yeah. It costs me a thousand, but it’s all worth it.” Wisana smiled back.
“...Is she really Viola?”
Maysa muttered while looking at Baron with an alarmed face. The others were the same since they had just heard the information for the first time. Other than Wisana, Maysa, and Waree, no one knew that Sander was friends with the enemies back then.
“I’m sorry, but this woman and I are not the same person,” Baron said calmly. “Viola is dead. She’s long gone from the Pride world.”
“And who are you, then?” Wisana grinned.
“Just Baron... That’s it.”
Hearing that, the man stared at the woman in front of him and smirked. Both looked at each other as if they were reading each other’s minds. In the end, the boy scoffed and nodded.
“Okay, if you said so.” He said.
“Why do you believe so easily this time? I told you I’m Phantom and you didn’t.”
Sander complained with a sad face. The kids did not pay attention to him. Manoch broke the silence.
“Is it true that you’re their friend?!”
The older man blinked and sighed.
“Yeah. We used to be in the same guild over thirty years ago.”
The kids looked at each other with a wry face.
“There’s another thing that’s been on my mind since the very start,” Wisana said. “Compared to you, those people don’t change much. It’s as if they’re modifying their age with a program, even though Pride always shows real value of everyone. They use cheat programs. Does that mean they’ve become hunters?”
Sander’s facial expression changed. He sighed softly before closing his eyes.
“They aren’t hunters.”
“No?” Maysa raised her eyebrows. “If not, then why would they want to take Jinnie from Wisana?!”
The kids frowned.
“They aren’t hunters and not active players either.”
Baron said calmly. The kids turned to her. Sander frowned tightly.
“Baron... Are you sure?” He asked with a serious voice.
“Just tell them the truth. They’ll know it sooner or later anyway.”
Baron said and intentionally stared at Wisana alone.
“What do you mean, inactive players?” Waree asked.
Hearing the question, Baron sighed lightly.
“Have you ever wondered how the Pride world can still stand, even though this world doesn’t have any equipment to control the brain waves, not even medical ones?”
The kids looked at each other, puzzled.
“First, I want you to understand that the Pride world isn’t intangible. It’s the world that humans created by gathering all the brain waves that finally bring out a virtual world.” She poked her head. “Our brain is a collection of sensory nervous systems, be it the appearance, the taste, the smell, the color, or the physical touch. The PM machine that you’re using to go online is actually a machine that transmits the brain wave to Pride’s beta server.”
The more the kids listened, the more they wondered how this story was related to the one they were talking about.
“You’re wondering what I’m talking about, right?” Baron smiled. “The thing is, that beta server is a big world created to support so many brain waves, which are yours. To make it simple, the beta server is a box that stores your brain waves. Do you know how it was created?”
The woman’s question prompted so many more questions. Waree frowned.
“It should be something similar to a space or a block on the internet?”
Wisana tried to think of something logical.
“If Pride was asked that by journalists or academics, they’d definitely say that, Vincent boy.” Baron smiled at him. “But it’s actually not.”
Wisana raised his eyebrows a little.
“Our brain waves can’t be synced with the internet’s frequency. They don’t match. Or if they could, the brain wouldn’t be able to take it and would cause damage to the brain.” Sander said. Wisana recalled that Sander told him before that he was researching about this kind of thing.
“Exactly,” Baron said. “The only thing that the human brain can sync with is another human brain.”
Finally, Maysa, the brightest one among them, reacted.
“Don’t tell me...!” Maysa cried out.
“Yes, May.” Baron nodded. “This beta server that you’re walking on is created from so many human’s brain waves that were gathered and built into a synthetic wave with enough frequency to create a big world, strong and safe.”
Everyone was so surprised.
“That means... Pride uses...” Wisana cried.
“Yes.” Baron pointed at her head. “They use human brains to create Pride.”
