Power rangers x Marvel: Rise of the Omni-ranger

Chapter 144 144: Spectacular Spiderman (Cosmic)

Chapter 144 144: Spectacular Spiderman (Cosmic)

Boom~

The tyrannodrone fired at the child.

"No!!!" Peter's voice was filled with anguish, but there was nothing he could do. His eyes widened as the laser got closer to the child. Then….in the next moment.

Buzz~

The entire city fell into perfect silence. All things seemed to slow down in Peter's perception. The cars, airplanes, birds, and even the blue tyrannnodrone slowed down in his eyes.

Only he seemed relatively normal. Peter couldn't understand what was happening, but one thing was clear to him. His body was currently changing at an extremely fast pace.

Swoosh~

A massive surge of starlight energy seemed to converge in his very being, granting him immense strength. This power was so vast that it felt like he could destroy the world with a wave of his hand.

But his mind was not focused on the power; instead, it was on the laser beam charging at the child from the tyrannodrone. With a slight movement of his body, he appeared in between them.

Peter's eyes under his torn mask were cold like ice. With a slight movement of his right hand, he deflected the beam, sending it flying eastward. Following that momentum with his current state of extreme perception and added speed, he moved the child away, using his now starry-like webs. This action seemed small, but the distance Peter moved the child was extremely fast from his location.

He didn't stop there but continued with other civilians, who also appeared slow in his eyes.

Finally, after some seconds, only he and the tyrannodrone remained within a kilometer radius.

But the power in him was clearly not permanent.

"It's fading," Peter felt the things around him speed up, as the starry-like power left his body. It was like water seeping out of a sieve. Peter knew he couldn't delay any longer. He had to end this now.

So, he planned to use the remaining power to destroy the tyrannodrone.

"HA" Charging forward with a low shout. Peter's starry like webs pierced the tyrannodrone, binding it from all sides in a matter of seconds.

"Roar!" The tyrannodrone, just realizing it had been hit, screamed in pain as blue blood gushed out from its cybernetic body. The wounds tried to heal, but the starry webs, like a restraining chain, corroded them, preventing the process.

"Shut up," Peter, with fury in his eyes, punched with all his might. The punch was extremely controlled. It didn't spread out of his body; instead, it converged on his fist like a pinnacle point, piercing the air around it.

From the day he had been Spiderman, he had never truly gone out, but today was different. Seeing hundreds of people die before him, with his aunt almost captured, the righteous fury in him couldn't help but be set ablaze.

He finally figured out what Zayne meant. They were heroes, not ordinary ones. They carried the responsibility of an entire planet on their shoulders. If they were indecisive when facing an enemy that threatens that responsibility, the results would be devastating. Just like it currently is.

Moreover, his uncle Ben, before his death, had once told him, "With great power comes great responsibility". He now fully understood the meaning of responsibility in those words.

He was a hero, one who was once prepared to die protecting people. Now, he would also kill those who deserve it to protect Earth.

This was his small yet heavy conviction to himself. One he would never betray.

Boom!

The overpowered punch sent the tyrannodrone flying. Its body disintegrates upon impact.

Roar~~

It let out a roar of pain and unwillingness. It's once cunning eyes now filled with despair. Within this despair was even more hatred for Peter. Its master had given it an important mission. Now it was going to fail. To it, failing was worse than death.

But its struggle was useless. The power of the punch disintegrated its body, until not a single particle remained.

Peter, looking from below, breathed a sigh of relief at its death. This might be one of the most dangerous monsters he had ever fought.

"I hope this doesn't happen again anytime soon. My luck shouldn't be that bad, right?" Peter muttered and slumped on the ground, tired.

It was also at this very moment that the rangers arrived, as it was exactly five minutes after Peter's call. Kira, Gwen, and Ethan were the ones present.

As they came out of the portal, they saw the destruction, and Peter slumped at its center. Their hearts chilled, already understanding a little bit of what had happened.

Peter noticed their arrival and joked. "Hey guys, you missed the party."

The team ignored his comment and instead walked up to him. Helping him stand up.

"Cough~ Cough~~" Peter coughed up blood, struggling to stand.

Gwen frowned, seeing his state, and pulled out a healing pill Zayne had given previously, in case of emergencies, and gave it to Peter.

"Here, take this first," Gwen placed it directly in his mouth, not waiting for his reply. She was scared he might die if it were any later.

Gulp~

As Peter swallowed the pill, his wounds, cracked bones, and falling organs healed in seconds. Not just that, part of his energy seemed to have recovered, giving him the strength to stand on his own and talk.

"So, what happened?" Kira, curious, asked.

"Sigh~, I was sitting on a building…." As Peter explained, the faces of the three darkened, their faces filled with fear at what had gone on.

"Dude, you should have called immediately. Instead of fighting it on your own." Ethan complained, his witty tone non-existent.

Peter was his friend; he couldn't afford to lose him.

The others also voiced their complaints at his recklessness, telling him they were a team and should always work together. Fighting against monsters alone was extremely dangerous. Most had bizarre abilities, and if rangers or heroes were not careful, they might die without knowing why.

"I'm sorry, guys. I thought that since it was only one, handling it should be easy. But I was dead wrong." Peter admitted his mistake, not arguing at all.

He knew if it weren't for the mysterious power that appeared in him, the tyrannodrone might have killed him at the rate it was getting stronger. He wasn't going to be this careless and willful again.

"You –, Sigh~, forget about it. Did the monster escape?" Kira asked, not noticing the tyrannodrone anywhere.

"No, I killed it," Peter shook his head and replied.

Uh!!

The entire gasped in shock. They almost didn't believe what they had just heard. Before coming to the mission, Kara had given a comprehensive report about the tyrannodrone. Its strength was very close to B, with a potential rating to the B+ tier. How on earth did Peter do it? Moreover, since when does Peter 'kill'?

"Um…Pete, are you sure you're completely ok?" Ethan moved closer to him and asked, patting his body.

The other two also leaned in to confirm whether he was joking or just delirious.

Peter, seeing his friend's expression, understood their doubts. How could he, who was only at C tier (middle), defeat a monster infinitely close to B? Moreover, he couldn't use any of his gear or weapons due to the speed of the battle. It was virtually impossible for most, with the sole exception of Zayne, of course.

"I really did, guys. How about we go to the base and check the battle reports, you'll believe me then," Peter spoke.

The team nodded in reply, not thinking about it anymore. The battle reports would explain everything later; there was no use dwelling on it.

But before they could say another thing, a voice echoed in their communication devices.

"No need to doubt him. Peter did kill the monster."

The eyes of the three instantly widened in surprise. They now totally believed Peter. Since Zayne had said it was true, there was no more need for doubt.

Moreover, they also heard a tone of surprise in Zayne's voice, which was uncommon.

"Yo, buddy, how did you get that strong? Did you do some extra training behind our backs?" Ethan, with a smile, put his hands around Peter's neck and teased.

"Nah, I was just lucky, dude. As for how I could defeat the tyrannodrone, I'll explain later. Let's help the civilians first," Peter replied, diverting the conversation.

"Hmm…. let's do that then," Gwen replied, understanding he didn't want to talk about it for now.

The rest also nodded, not thinking about it again. Their priority now was to get the people to safety. After all, a lot had died.

"Wait, guys, before we do that. I need to get my aunt," Peter remembered May and immediately spoke up.

"Go ahead, Pete. You don't need to help them. You've done enough. Go home and rest. As for the people who died, I'll take care of it." This time, it was Zayne who replied through the comms.

Peter's eyes lit up, and he instantly replied. "Thanks, leader."

"Mm," Zayne hummed and cut off the connection.

Peter looked at the three before him, spoke with them a little, and left for his aunt.

"Alright, guys, let's get moving." Kira, Gwen, and Ethan did not waste any more time and helped with civilian safety.

....

(Omni-base – Control room)

"I've hit the jackpot!" Zayne spoke, unable to hide his inner joy.

The holographic video before him was that of Peter and the tyrannodrone. Although most could not see the moment of Peter's power boost, Zayne, using the base's power, captured the very essence.

"I was initially hoping he would have the potential of the Superior Spider-Man variant, but this is even better." Zayne stared at the starry-like energy around Peter, marveling at its mystery.

The variant before him was arguably the strongest version of Spider-Man. The cosmic Spider-Man. And the starry-like energy around him was Enigma force. The driving source of this power.

It was even better than the Beyonder variant.

"This is truly a blessing in disguise. Although Peter didn't completely shed his no-kill rule, he's not as rigid as before. This can work."

Are you kidding? It absolutely had to work. Zayne knew he couldn't lose the current Peter. With a universe filled with overpowered entities, having a teammate like the Cosmic Spiderman was an absolute advantage. Although the power was temporary in the comics, Zayne believed he could make it permanent with the Omni-grid.

After all, it was all-powerful.

"Good, with Peter's new power, my plans can further advance. But first, let's revive the people who died." Zayne channeled the power of the Revival Altar in his mind.

Buzz!!

A chaotic energy burst out from the base. In Zayne's eyes, this power transcended life and death, capable of many wonders. Zayne almost couldn't keep his composure as he felt the vast power.

Since it was his first time using it, he wasn't used to it yet.

Even more shocking, the altar could be used at any location since it was imprinted in Zayne's very existence. It was shaped like a black stone but radiated a power of ancientness.

Seconds later, Zayne forcibly calmed his mind before the power and commanded, "Revive."

Boom~

Far from the base, in the place of Peter's battle, a vast and omnipresent power descended. Whether it was Gwen, Peter, Kira, Ethan, or the civilians in that area, they couldn't move, as the power that descended felt extremely powerful.

But that wasn't all.

Whoosh~

This supreme power surged once more and acted upon all the dead, half-dead, and injured, reviving them in seconds.

Then in the next second, it vanished like smoke.

"What was that?"

"Did the dead just revive?!"

"A god has descended."

"Hahaha, I'm alive…I am alive!!!"

Cheers of shock and happiness echoed around the place. There was shock, happiness, reverence, doubt, fear, and many more emotions.

The only ones that were relatively calmer were the Omni-Force. Zayne had already notified them that he was the one who acted. On one hand, they felt it was normal; on the other, they marveled at Zayne's power.

Their leader was stronger than they previously concluded.

It was a good thing he was a hero and not the opposite.

After the entire place had calmed down, the team continued their mission and led the civilians to a safe space.

...…

"Phew, that was shocking. Worthy of being a growth S-tier item." Zayne marveled at the might of the altar and smiled in astonishment.

This was the most bizarre and powerful thing he had seen. Even the space megazord was a notch lower.

Zayne was happy he could revive the civilians. There were people of Earth after all, and his mission was to protect them. As for why he didn't fix the destroyed building, Zayne really couldn't be bothered with it.

Insurance would cover it anyway; if they relied on him every time, things might never get fixed.

"That's done, let's focus on the next thing." Zayne switched the hologram before him with another and listened to Alpha's report on it.

Peter's phase was over; the incoming threat still loomed over Earth. He couldn't relax yet.
