Chapter 135: Snow in the Mysterious Garden (Shaymin)
Bang!
A Primeape was sent flying.
Pikachu!
Ash had done brilliantly.
Seeing Ash punch Primeape away, Zapdos froze for a moment.
Its body trembled, and it roared at Ash, signaling it was ready for a proper Pokémon battle.
"All right, go, Bulbasaur!"
Ash stepped back and sent out Bulbasaur.
The sound of vines whipping like slapping meat rang out, and Zapdos screeched in pain.
Without its feathers, its electricity discharged clumsily, and its defensive agility was practically nonexistent.
Soon, as if it couldn't bear it, Doduo's eyes turned red, tears streaming, and it ran wildly toward the back.
Hypno~ Hypno handed Ash an Oran Berry.
It remembered that in human battles, giving something seemed customary.
"Thanks."
Ash was slightly surprised; this Hypno seemed quite familiar with human customs.
Jiggly
From Hypno's small basket, the sleeping Jigglypuff jumped out.
"Wow, so cute." Misty mumbled with the fake tongue in her mouth.
Jiggly~ Jigglypuff pulled out a tiny microphone.
Ji-gglyyyyyy puffff, jigglyyyy—
A leisurely song began, and Natsume froze.
Something was off.
Thud—Ash fell to the ground first.
"Mr. Natsume," Giselle leaned in.
"Isn't Sing a move with low accuracy?"
As she spoke, Giselle dozed off.
Ding!
[D-Rank: 100% Sing Accuracy]
[Subject] Jigglypuff
A new system task popped up, seemingly about this Jigglypuff.
Hypno.
Hypno tilted its head and fell asleep as well.
Natsume tried to block his hearing with telekinesis.
Sure enough, he didn't fall asleep.
Pikapi! Midchu approached Jigglypuff, placing his hand on its head.
In an instant, overwhelming drowsiness struck, and Natsume's vision blurred.
In that haze, he seemed to see Midchu smirking.
Good, hiding his skill, huh?
The moment he drifted into sleep, Natsume pulled Midchu into his dream.
Midchu felt the surroundings suddenly turn white.
Rumble—
A roar came from behind.
Midchu turned and saw four trucks barreling toward him.
Pika?
"Don't waste nap time—let's train." Natsume's devilish voice echoed.
When everyone woke, they found ghost faces drawn on their own faces.
Hypno and Jigglypuff were gone.
"Hey, Midchu, how are you unharmed?"
Misty asked, pointing at Midchu.
Not only was there no graffiti on him, but a lip-shaped mark remained on his cheek, as if something had planted a kiss.
Pikapi?
Midchu swayed dazedly, still half in a dream.
He knew nothing and didn't want to say anything.
With a roll of his eyes, he flopped down and went to sleep.
Natsume's psychic power was growing stronger, and he needed a good rest to soothe his weary heart.
"Maybe he's the only one who listened," Natsume said, lifting Midchi into his arms.
"Natsume, come quick!"
Ash shouted from nearby, pointing at Bulbasaur.
"My Bulbasaur has been glowing ever since it woke up!"
"Is it going to evolve?" Brock glanced over.
Unexpectedly, the glow signaling evolution suddenly vanished from Bulbasaur, as if forcibly suppressed.
"Does it not want to evolve?" Misty stepped closer.
Bulba, Bulba! Bulbasaur nodded.
"Why don't you want to evolve?" Ash asked, curious.
Along the roadside, countless small flowers bloomed. Ash pointed to them.
"These little plants have stored energy for a long time just to bloom."
Bulba, Bulba— Bulbasaur shook its head.
"Well… something feels off here," Misty hesitated.
"It says that grass has its own happiness," Natsume explained.
"I see," Ash said, patting Bulbasaur's head. In the next moment, a stone appeared in his hand.
"This is a Everstone," Brock explained with a smile.
"Giving it to a Pokémon that doesn't want to evolve suppresses its evolution."
"Uh… these flowers aren't normal, are they?"
"Thanks, Brock," Ash nodded in gratitude.
"Hey, are you even listening to me?" Misty shouted, exasperated.
"When we woke up, this whole area was covered in flowers. Don't you think that's strange?" she said, pointing at the overgrown blooms.
"Oh, really?" Ash blinked. He hadn't noticed.
"Maybe it's Bulbasaur's evolutionary energy overflowing?" Brock guessed.
"That shouldn't make flowers grow up into the trees," Misty said, pointing at a large tree nearby.
Without exception, the tree trunks were covered in flowers and grass.
"Isn't this a rock?" Brock stepped closer.
"No way! That was a big tree just a moment ago!" Misty exclaimed.
Everyone finally realized something was wrong.
The environment around them was changing rapidly. Wild grass grew and withered, trees decayed and vanished, replaced by rocks.
"What's happening?" Misty hid behind Ash.
"Natsume…"
Ash turned instinctively to ask Natsume, only to see him fully focused, surrounded by brilliant blue light.
"We might have… been taken to a past timeline just now," Natsume said after a moment.
"A past timeline?" Everyone froze.
Natsume didn't reply, instead fully unleashing his psychic power to carefully search the area.
The only one capable of taking people to the past is Celebi.
It probably brought them here unintentionally.
Such unconscious time travel is brief; they could return the next second.
This might be the perfect chance to find Celebi and make progress on his research.
"Natsume, wait for me!"
Seeing Natsume stay silent and speed into the forest, everyone chased after him without pause.
Soon, they reached a clearing filled with flowers.
A small green Pokémon darted through the garden like a butterfly among the blooms.
Bulbasaur in Giselle's arms suddenly opened its eyes, staring intensely at the green Pokémon.
"What Pokémon is that? I've never seen it before," Ash said, pulling out his Pokédex, which had no information.
"It seems to be Celebi, the Pokémon with the power to travel through time."
Giselle thought for a moment, vaguely recalling some information about it.
"This kind of Mythical Pokémon is incredibly rare, even rarer than Legendary Pokémon. Many species only have a single individual," she explained.
"The Pokédex usually doesn't record them; you need to check the special database at the League."
"Ash, go!"
Seeing that long-distance registration of the divine mission was impossible, Natsume picked Ash up.
"Natsume, why are you taking my clothes off?" Ash asked, confused.
Misty covered her face nearby.
"You need to lure it, quickly, it's about to leave," Natsume said, pointing at Celebi not far away.
"Me?" Ash looked bewildered.
"Yes, you," Natsume urged, pushing Ash forward.
The others might scare Celebi off if they approached, but Ash, with his extraordinary bond with Legendary Pokémon, might have a chance.
Rustle~ A sound came from the flowers, and a human stood straight ahead.
Lebi!?
Celebi was startled, instinctively opening a blue portal behind it.
"Uh, hello, my name's Ash, I'm a Trainer from Pallet Town," Ash said.
Pikachu! Pikachu waved back.
Celebi didn't step into the blue portal, instead looking curiously at the pair.
Slowly, it flew closer and also noticed the others crouching in the flower bushes.
"Hello, I'm Misty," Misty stood up slowly.
Lebi? Celebi circled Misty twice.
"I'm Brock,"
"I'm Giselle,"
Brock and Giselle stood, and Celebi examined them with curiosity.
I'm Nats—
LEBIIIII!!!
The moment Natsume appeared, Celebi looked as if it had seen something terrifying, its expression visibly panicked.
Flapping its transparent wings, it zipped into the blue portal and disappeared.
The surroundings returned to normal, and everyone was back in their original location.
Natsume: "???"
If memory served, this was their first meeting.
Who told Celebi bad things about him!?
