The relationship between Hatterene and Grimmsnarl resembles that of Cresselia and Darkrai.

All Grimmsnarl are male.

All Hatterene are female.

The two are counterpart Fairy-type Pokémon—one Psychic/Fairy and one Dark/Fairy—and both species are exceptionally powerful.

Among them, Grimmsnarl possesses the incredibly potent Hidden Ability Prankster, which allows him to consistently set up dual screens with priority, making him arguably the strongest support Pokémon in existence. His STAB Sucker Punch in critical moments can also achieve devastating effects.

Unlike Grimmsnarl's supportive role, Hatterene is the premier Trick Room setter and sweeper for Trick Room teams, boasting a massive base 136 Special Attack and a crawling base 29 Speed—perfectly suited for Trick Room strategies.

Furthermore, Hatterene also possesses one of the best defensive Abilities in the entire Pokémon world: Magic Bounce.

Her only weakness is her low base 57 HP. If she could swap that with her base 90 Attack stat, Hatterene's viability would reach extraordinary heights.

Watching the two Gigantamax Pokémon gradually close in, Jacob didn't hesitate. He pulled out the Poké Balls containing his Gigantamax Lapras, Darkrai, and Iron Valiant and released them all at once.

To quickly capture both Gigantamax Hatterene and Gigantamax Grimmsnarl, Jacob committed everything, holding nothing back.

"Hurry, Raya! Don't hold back!" Jacob's voice rang out. Their extensive history of battling side-by-side had built complete trust between them.

Raya nodded in acknowledgment. Their coordination was nearly flawless; almost the instant Jacob spoke, she reached for her own Poké Balls.

Gardevoir, Cresselia, and Hydreigon emerged one after another.

"Lapras, G-Max Resonance! Target Hatterene!"

"Darkrai, Sludge Bomb! Target Grimmsnarl!"

"Iron Valiant, Moonblast! Target Grimmsnarl!"

The three Pokémon responded to Jacob's commands immediately, launching their attacks.

Jacob's strategy was straightforward: first, have Gigantamax Lapras use G-Max Resonance to set up Aurora Veil, reducing incoming damage for all his Pokémon, then combine it with Cresselia's Lunar Blessing.

Damage reduction, HP recovery, and status condition removal all in one package—they could wear down both Gigantamax Hatterene and Gigantamax Grimmsnarl through attrition if necessary.

Unfortunately, Hatterene's Magic Bounce Ability was incredibly problematic. It could reflect certain status moves targeting her, including Darkrai's Dark Void, which would be completely bounced back. The Ability was truly broken.

Otherwise, victory would come easily. With Dark Void rendered ineffective, Darkrai's effectiveness was directly cut in half.

Under Jacob's command, the three Pokémon unleashed their attacks simultaneously.

"Hydreigon, Flash Cannon! Target Grimmsnarl!"

Similarly, Raya commanded her Pokémon to attack. Due to the complete type disadvantage against Hatterene, Raya could only have Hydreigon use the Steel-type move Flash Cannon, joining the assault on Grimmsnarl instead.

In an instant, the area became as bright as day, shimmering like countless stars.

Fairy-type energy burst forth, accompanied by dazzling radiance, spreading outward like a shockwave!

"Dazzling Gleam!"

Facing the combined assault of six Pokémon, Hatterene didn't use her exclusive G-Max Smite, instead choosing the wide-range Fairy-type move Dazzling Gleam.

Hatterene's Special Attack was already extraordinarily high, and with the Fairy-type STAB bonus, the Dazzling Gleam she unleashed reached a terrifying level of power. Moreover, both Darkrai and Iron Valiant were doubly weak to Fairy-type attacks, while Hydreigon was quadruply weak. A single move critically injured Hydreigon.

Iron Valiant and Darkrai also sustained considerable damage.

This was even with Aurora Veil's protection; otherwise, Hydreigon might not have survived Hatterene's Dazzling Gleam at all.

Eliminate the healer first!

Gigantamax Grimmsnarl's target priority was crystal clear: take out Cresselia immediately. Otherwise, Cresselia's Lunar Blessing could continuously heal status conditions, completely nullifying G-Max Snooze's drowsiness effect.

Simultaneously, Gigantamax Hatterene launched her own attack—G-Max Smite!

A beam of Fairy-type energy shot straight into the heavens, followed by tremors in the sky itself. Multiple stars formed from Fairy-type energy plummeted rapidly from above, striking near the Pokémon in the blink of an eye.

"BOOM!"

Following the Fairy-type energy stars came blue lightning, arcing across the sky and striking where the stars had landed, creating instant thunder and lightning. This was G-Max Smite's additional effect—Gravity.

In the games, Gravity's effect merely had a chance to confuse opponents.

However, witnessing this move in reality revealed it to be more like a secondary Electric-type attack following the initial Fairy-type energy stars—essentially unleashing two attack types simultaneously, with the secondary Electric-type strike having a chance to confuse the target.

(Note: To reflect a more realistic interpretation, this signature Max Move has been modified. After all, it's called G-Max Smite—it wouldn't make sense without Electric-type attacks, right?)

Likewise, Gigantamax Hatterene's target was also Cresselia!

Jacob noticed that in every major battle like this, Cresselia was invariably the first target. The same thing happened when he captured Gigantamax Lapras previously.
