Chapter 63: Slaughter
Chapter 63: Slaughter
Fellin immediately enlarged his fan and turned to the three remaining bandit generals.
The twins were already clashing with the huge man, pushing him away and taking the fight some distance away.
Behind the inner court disciple, Ariana and Tamar stood readied, their expressions solemn as they stared at the bandits.
’It’s a three against three, but the scales are tipped in their favor.’
Ariana was merely a Peak Beginner Stage Cultivator, while Tamar was still an Initial Advanced Stage Cultivator.
Meanwhile, the three bandit generals were Core Advanced Stage cultivators.
"I’ll hold them off. You guys support me and help me create a chance to kill anyone of them."
Ariana and Tamar nodded, their weapons unsheathed and ready.
"You brought a scary existence to us, but you don’t know you’ll eventually become his doom!"
The skinny one grinned, glaring at them viciously.
Fellin did not answer. Instead, he attacked.
Stepping forward, ice crept over the ground, spreading towards the three generals at a rapid pace.
Before it could reach them, the only woman among the generals stepped forward, creating a wall of flames that completely stopped the spreading ice.
Fellin didn’t stop. He slid on the ice, closing the distance between them quickly, then he swung his weapon.
The blades fan sliced at the three bandits, and the other man had to come defend them with an earth wall.
When Fellin’s weapon landed on the wall, it was instantly shattered, and the hairy man was thrown back.
Using this opportunity, the skinny bandit general pivoted to the side, aiming for Tamar and Ariana.
Before he could even leave Fellin’s side, earth spikes shot up from the ground, almost skewering him.
He quickly dodged, his movements lightning fast.
’That stone-faced girl?’
He looked up to confirm if Tamar had been the one who attacked him, but was shocked to find seven ice arrows hurtling at him.
He moved like lightning, dodging the arrows as fast as he could.
Even then, he got struck in the shoulder, sending stinging pain and biting cold up his nerves.
"Agh!"
He grunted, falling back to regroup with his mates.
"Forget abducting them—let’s kill them!"
The woman and the hairy bandit nodded, then all charged at Fellin together.
They intended to quickly overwhelm him, possibly killing him, then take the kids hostage.
Fellin’s expression darkened when he sensed their intentions.
If they all focused on him, he would be forced on a defensive, and he wouldn’t be able to attack any of them.
’I have no choice.’
Holding the fan, he prepared to welcome their attacks. That was when something unexpected—yet mundane—happened.
The skinny bandit and the woman stumbled, almost tripping on small stumps on the ground.
The hairy man would have also stumbled, but he immediately terraformed the earth, erasing the stump before him.
His eyes widened in surprise and anger!
"You! It’s that girl that’s messing with us."
Pointing at Tamar, his expression became vicious.
Unfortunately, there was nothing he could do to them. Fellin had already attacked.
A wave of cold air burst from his weapon, making it slightly uncomfortable to breathe.
The woman responded immediately, shooting fireballs at Fellin.
The cold in the air dispersed, replaced by warmth.
Blocking the fireballs with an ice shield, Fellin was surprised to see it shatter.
’...!!!’
The skinny bandit came through the shattering ice, shooting lightning strikes at Fellin.
Although the disciple tried to dodge, he still got hit in his left thigh.
He froze briefly, feeling the numbing pain spread through the limb.
The skinny bandit didn’t let him recover.
He immediately took out a knife, intending to end his life right there and then.
However, just as he stepped close to Fellin, his legs were encased in ice, keeping him in place.
On Fellin’s face, he saw a mocking smile.
’Damn it!’
Frustrated, he tried to break free. He could have, but he wasn’t fast enough.
An ice arrow shot from behind Fellin, heading straight for his heart.
’That girl?!’
Panicking, he tilted to the side, avoiding having his heart pierced.
His shoulder was pierced instead, and the wound was frozen solid.
’Ahhhghhh!’
It was agonizing, having an ice arrow in his body and bearing through the itchy discomfort of the ice.
’Why aren’t these guys helping me?’
He looked back to his teammates, only to realize why they were unable to help.
Fellin kept blocking their paths with ice shields, conjuring them just as fast as they shattered.
’Bastards!’
Gritting his teeth, the skinny bandit broke free from the ice around his feet, and he retreated, pulling the ice arrow from his flesh.
It was covered in his blood, and he didn’t appreciate that.
Fellin walked towards him slowly, his eyes cold.
"Do you realize it now? All your evil deeds will eventually lead to a pathetic ending."
"Hah? Don’t even say such things! You’re dying here today."
Saying that, he took out a talisman, and threw it towards Fellin and the girls while he retreated.
Time seemed to move slowly, and Fellin watched the talisman flip in the air.
He immediately recognized it, as it was something popular in the Summer Peak of the Soul Cross Sect.
’An explosion talisman!’
His eyes widened, and he shot back, diving towards the two kids behind him.
Grabbing them with both hands, a thick ice dome covered them all, followed by a loud explosion and the roaring of fierce flames.
...............
Outside the base, the terrain had completely transformed.
The ground was cracked and shattered, filled with several craters and scorch marks.
All around were jagged pieces of ice shooting from the ground, as if testifying to a heavy battle.
Fang stood atop an ice pillar, his gaze cold as he looked at the two humans below him.
The Dark Lord and the Reaper Agent were in tatters, their robes shredded and blood oozing from different wounds on their bodies.
The old man welding a battle-axe groaned, his chest heaving as he struggled to breathe.
"Soul Cross Sect Disciple. Are you truly willing to bring the wrath of the Reapers upon your sect?"
Even though he was utterly spent, his tone was still sharp.
"Heh," Fang sneered. "Do you think we’re scared of your Reaper organization? You all are just sewer rats hiding from daylight. You pose no threat to our Soul Cross Sect."
"Impudent!"
The Dark Lord roared, his eyes burning with fury. Fang’s words meant that he wouldn’t be spared at all.
"Calm down."
The masked man beside him said coolly, his expression unknown.
From his belt, he took out a knife, raising it so Fang could see it clearly.
"You are strong. But you leave me no choice to do this."
The old man’s eyes widened. "W-wait. I’m sure my boys would return with those kids anytime soon, and we can force him to—"
BOOOOM!
There was a loud explosion in the base, and the tremor could even be felt on the outside.
The Dark Lord immediately looked back, surprised.
"Can Amawa cause that?"
He whispered to himself, referring to the female general with fire affinity.
Unfortunately, he was wrong. Not long after, something flew from inside the base and landed on the ground, rolling between the Dark Lord and the Reaper Agent.
It was a head, belonging to the huge man that had fought Seta and Dera.
"How...?"
The Dark Lord’s eyes widened in shock, staring at the lifeless eyes of his underling.
"Tch. Your men are really useless."
The Reaper Agent snorted, then brought down his raised and, aiming for his own heart.
A knife pierced his heart, and surprise slipped into his voice.
"Wha...?"
It was a different knife that had pierced him from behind, even blocking his own stab.
From behind him, Fang’s feminine voice came smoothly.
"You think I don’t know about that trick that turns you Reapers into mindless beasts with high cultivation? Unfortunately, I wouldn’t be allowing that."
He twisted the knife, crushing the masked man’s heart and killing him on the spot.
The Dark Lord stumbled back, his eyes widening in horror. He immediately raised his battle-axe to fight back, clinging to every chance at survival.
Fang dropped the corpse in his hand, then turned to him.
"Have you realized it now? It was a bad decision joining the dark side."
Hearing such mocking remark from Fang enraged the old man, and he aggressively charged at the long-haired boy.
"You brat! Die!"
Fang’s sword flashed, and a head fell.
The Dark Lord’s body dropped to the ground soon after, cold and lifeless.
After confirming that the two men were dead, Fang headed to the base himself.
Before he reached the walls, they suddenly shattered, large pillars of ice rising from the ground with a hysterical shout from Fellin.
’Oh? It seems little brother was a bit enraged.’
Fang chuckled, his eyes curving into crescents.
"Oh well, I guess I should clean up after him then."
Sheathing his sword, he took a few steps and entered into the icy domain his brother had created.
