Chapter 482: Sabotage
Chapter 482: Sabotage
The Duchess was quite disgusted with Duke Tal and the others, but she felt some sympathy for those children from poor backgrounds. She asked Xu Huo for some details regarding the charity.
Xu Huo answered each of her questions one by one, and it was clear she was very satisfied.
A short while later, someone came in from outside to see the Duchess. The Duchess left reluctantly, and before leaving, she gave Xu Huo a business card.
Xu Huo saw her out and said, "I should be heading back too."
The Duchess seemed to think of something unpleasant, her smile fading a little as she added, "Young people shouldn't learn to be bad."
Xu Huo smiled without replying.
The Duchess looked at him intently for two seconds before turning and leaving.
Only after watching her disappear around the corner of the hallway did Xu Huo's smile vanish. He lit a cigarette and returned to the smoking room.
The room was empty now.
The architectural design of District 011 was advanced. High-rise buildings were mostly fully enclosed, with internal fresh air systems installed densely and in small units. This kind of protection was excellent at preventing entry into the building through abnormal channels, but it had one drawback: facility maintenance was inconvenient, especially inside the ventilation ducts. If repairs were needed, mini robots had to be used.
Mini robots capable of autonomous, precise operations were still considered cutting-edge technology in District 011. This place had them, but the number wouldn't be large.
Xu Huo first used his own testing device to check if there were any alarms or monitors in the room, then tested the ventilation opening with his water jet gun. Only after confirming no alarm was triggered did he remove the decorative grille covering it.
This ventilation opening was only as wide as two palms placed side by side, just enough for a remote-controlled car to enter.
Xu Huo placed the remote-controlled car, which he had pre-equipped with a testing device, inside and controlled it to move deeper into the duct.
The inside was more spacious than the entrance, but noticeable vibrations could be felt near the machinery. However, there were no sensors installed on the duct itself.
Xu Huo retrieved the remote-controlled car, attached small bottles of "A good thing that makes one utterly infatuated" to it, and placed them one by one next to the machinery.
Once the foul odor began to spread, he retrieved the remote-controlled car, packed it away, and returned to the previous room.
The air supply system accurately delivered the incredibly foul-smelling potion scent to every room. Duke Tal and the others had already come out of their rooms, shouting for the servers to explain what was happening.
But it wasn't just one room with a problem; now even the corridors were filled with the smell. Someone, it's unclear who, said the words "terrorist attack." The faces of Duke Tal and the others changed, and they immediately hurried out.
By now, the club had also begun evacuating people. Alarms were blaring. Nearby anti-riot robots all gathered at the base of the building. Rescue personnel were on their way. The club's inspection team entered the building first.
People were streaming in and out of the building non-stop. Xu Huo, who had already exited the building, quickly moved away from its vicinity, found a blind spot in the surveillance, entered it, changed his face, stood in the shadows, dragged a person inside, took off his outer coat, put it on, and left through another exit.
After exiting, he returned to the club building, blending into the crowded crowd heading to the first floor.
Setting a fire in a metal building like this was somewhat difficult, but fortunately, the club had electrical equipment. However, players had likely already gone to those two locations by now. So, halfway there, he knocked out a maintenance worker, took his tools, and headed for the control room.
The control room wasn't hard to find; just grabbing any server who hadn't left yet and asking would suffice. Thanks to the clothes he was wearing, he made his way to the control room without any obstruction.
"What are you doing here?" Players were guarding the door of the control room.
"The manager sent me to check if the main control panel has any problems and to turn off the alarm..."
Before he could finish his sentence, the eyes of the two players momentarily glazed over. Xu Huo knocked them out and entered the control room, successfully locating the place where players and Mutants were being held.
He could also see relevant information for each corresponding control point.
He opened the doors of all the player containment units. Over a dozen seconds later, he opened another door and released two Mutants.
Just as he was about to cut off the building's operational facilities, he sensed someone appear behind him. Without turning around, he directly shut off the power.
The entire building plunged into darkness instantly, but this wasn't a problem for players. The player standing behind him made his move, flinging out a three-meter-long blade while saying, "Frozen Joy!"
Characteristic plus item. Xu Huo felt his feet freeze in place. However, he had already used his Crimson Sword to block first. Wearing his diamond gloves, he grabbed "Hurt Others, Not Yourself," entangled the opponent's long blade, and pushed it to the side. Taking advantage of their shifted positions, he feinted a dash towards the door!
That player, thinking he was trying to escape, immediately threw an ice ball with a backhanded motion. However, Xu Huo's move had been a feint all along; his target was the window.
"Crash!" The glass window shattered. He jumped directly out of the window, rapidly descended to the fifth floor, and then re-entered the building.
The club's player wanted to follow him down, but unfortunately, he didn't have an item for aerial movement. Therefore, he had to first activate the control panel to notify the club's personnel to seal off the building.
In that brief moment, Xu Huo had already reached the first floor. There were still people on the first floor who hadn't escaped. Just as the security guards were mobilizing robots to intercept, another explosion occurred inside the building, followed by the deafening crash of a falling elevator. As a Mutant charged out of the elevator, the panicked crowd directly broke through the barriers and rushed outside.
Screams and roars filled the air. Xu Huo also saw a few injured people mixed into the crowd; they were likely players who had escaped.
"No one leaves!" At that moment, a flying car landed at the entrance. The black-clad player who had just fought with Xu Huo jumped down, saying, "No one is allowed to leave! The person who sabotaged the building is right here!"
"Move aside!" A meticulously dressed man stepped forward in a fluster, pushing and shoving. "There are Mutants inside! Your club can't escape responsibility for this! How dare you block people? Can you bear the responsibility?!"
Most people who came to the club to have fun had status and position. The players who came to stop them didn't dare to actually use force. They could only go to control the Mutants first, then open the passageways, letting people out in small groups.
The black-clad player stood guard nearby, identifying people.
Xu Huo soon reached the entrance. The black-clad player reached out to stop him. "Wait!"
"What is it?" Xu Huo looked up, his expression displeased.
The black-clad player's puzzled eyes reflected Xu Huo's red formal attire. After a moment, he withdrew his hand and let the person pass, then shifted his attention to others.
Only after reaching a completely safe location did Xu Huo look back. He noticed that the black-clad player was still looking at him uncertainly. He straightened his clothes and walked away expressionlessly.
Returning to his car, someone was already in the driver's seat. Bai Kou motioned for him to sit in the passenger seat.
After the car took off, Bai Kou said, "I didn't expect you to be such a passionate youth. But those people won't get away."
