Chapter 439: Interrogation
Chapter 439: Interrogation
"Get out!" In that split second, Ge Pan roared at Wu Xiaonan, and Wu Xiaonan, who was about to stab her knife in, was actually sent flying into Gan Qing in front of her by the force of that shout!
At the same moment, Xu Huo manipulated the piano wire to tighten around Ge Pan's neck, swiftly kicked and broke one of his legs, knocked him unconscious, retrieved the "Real Wooden Man" wrapped in "Mona Lisa's Veil," and then dragged him out of the elevator.
Wan Yunrong was a bit confused about the situation and asked the latter, "Is Ge Pan a problem?"
"He's most likely working with the Kong siblings," Chu Yuan said. "This guy is no good!"
"His timing of appearing was too coincidental," Wu Xiaonan said. "We arrived first, and he came looking for us right after. The players over at Dr. Deng's side weren't isolated either, so how could he possibly kill a player and escape successfully? He's undoubtedly a traitor."
"Could it be him who tampered with our memories?" Gan Qing asked.
"Almost certainly," Xu Huo said, taking out Mao Wei's kite string, prying open Ge Pan's mouth, sewing two stitches through his tongue, and pulling it out.
Wan Yunrong watched with her scalp tingling. "What are you doing?"
"Interrogation," Xu Huo said. "If Ge Pan knows the Kong siblings, he should at least know a bit about the characteristics and items of those players."
"He might not tell the truth," Wu Xiaonan and Gan Qing walked over, with the former saying, "He used to be a director, so his profession is likely related to that. His speech seems to have characteristic power."Xu Huo had also figured that out. The "cut" he heard earlier at the elevator door was probably exactly that—"cut." Those familiar with the performing arts industry aren't strangers to a director's "catchphrase," and the subsequent memory gaps everyone experienced matched calling a halt and reshooting. Therefore, it was highly likely to be Ge Pan. Combined with his earlier cooperation with Mao Wei to escape from the black-shirted player, it was almost a sure thing.
"Let's reinforce him some more." Chu Yuan brought over some cabinet chairs and used his own rope to tie them all onto Ge Pan's body.
"We might not be able to withstand his characteristic," Wu Xiaonan added.
Xu Huo held the kite string. "Not difficult. His characteristic is useless against me. If it's an item, I'll pull the string when I step back, unless he doesn't want his tongue anymore."
"I'll wake him up." Miao Yu walked over and simply and brutally slapped him.
Ge Pan opened his eyes and within a few seconds understood his situation: hands and feet tied, heavy objects bound all over his body, right leg fractured, a string sewn through his tongue... Looking at the person holding the string, he hid his surprise and said angrily, "Why!"
"Stop pretending, we know you're with the Kong siblings," Chu Yuan said. "Now you'd better confess honestly, or don't blame me for being impolite. I might not be as good as you at scheming, but I have my own set of methods for interrogation and torture."
With a knife in hand, no special means were needed.
Noticing the players' gazes on him, Ge Pan was pragmatic. "I did take the money, but up until now, I haven't done anything harmful to you."
"Bullshit!" Chu Yuan shouted. "Wasn't it you and Mao Wei who let Zhu Rumin escape? And earlier, in the western half of the laboratory, wasn't it you who tampered with our memories?"
The others didn't know about the Zhu Rumin incident yet, but before anyone could ask for details, Xu Huo said to Ge Pan, "You restarted our memories only after listening to our conversation, probably wanting to use the time we spent repeating the discussion to notify the Kong siblings, right?"
"After all, you alone can't deal with so many of us."
"There's no need to deny it. Since we've already acted against you, whether you admit it or not isn't very important."
Ge Pan's expression changed several times, then he seemed to resign himself to fate. "I admit it, it was me. But everyone has their own goals, so you can't blame me for that."
Xu Huo nodded. "I'll ask you questions now, and you answer."
"About this dungeon, the inside information you know."
"Not clear," Ge Pan answered. "Before I entered, my starting point was the same as yours. The Kong siblings just told me to take the opportunity to eliminate one or two players; they didn't say much more."
"There's clearly a secret hidden in this dungeon, otherwise the Bolun Family wouldn't have made so many preparations before the train ticket players entered."
"I'm not interested in this secret; I just want to get the benefits and leave."
"What kind of secret?" Wan Yunrong couldn't help but ask.
"I don't know, I only heard it's about potions," Ge Pan said. "That's not hard to guess. This laboratory was originally making potions. The Bolun Family controls this place, so they definitely want to monopolize the potion industry."
"In some dungeon worlds, potions are a means for ordinary evolved people to control players," Wu Xiaonan said. "Not strange at all."
"The professions, characteristics, and items of the Kong siblings and the others," Xu Huo continued.
Ge Pan retorted, "You don't think they'd tell everything to a temporarily recruited player, do you?"
"You've been in contact with them; you can use your own observational skills," Xu Huo said, tugging the kite string. "You also guessed they came to the experiment for some secret. How can you be sure they won't silence you? There's no information circulating about the Deep Blue Laboratory dungeon; you should understand that principle."
Ge Pan grunted in pain, glared at him hatefully, and then said, "Kong Cheng's profession is computer repairman. Kong Hui is a magician. Both siblings are very capable, especially Kong Cheng."
"Kong Hui can control objects and has strong practical combat ability, especially in martial arts. She was originally an expert with knives and swords. Kong Cheng's characteristic is unclear, but it's said he once killed an A-rank player alone."
"These two are long-term hired players for the Bolun Family. If you have some channels, it's not hard to inquire about their information."
"As for the others, they were probably just gathered together. I don't know any of them."
"You're lying," Wu Xiaonan said. "The Bolun Family considers the laboratory important; how could they use all temporarily recruited players? Not only do you know the Kong siblings, you're probably even acquaintances."
"Don't you have any lie detection tools?" Ge Pan said. "Try and see if what I'm saying is true or false. At this point, why would I lie? Besides, you also said the Kong siblings would definitely silence me. I can cooperate with you, work with you."
"Go back and deceive the Kong siblings again?" Chu Yuan snorted. "You're quite slick at playing this double agent game."
Unfortunately, none of the players present had a suitable item to verify the truth, so they could only rely on experience to judge.
"Is there anyone else among us who's with the Kong siblings?" Miao Yu asked at this moment.
The players fell silent for a moment. Ge Pan, however, laughed. "You might as well ask him."
He pointed his chin at Xu Huo. "He killed Mao Wei. He acted pretty honest when entering the dungeon."
"Any others?" Chu Yuan instinctively asked Xu Huo. He also felt that since Xu Huo had figured out Ge Pan, Mao Wei, and Zhu Rumin, if there really were others, he should be able to spot them.
