Chapter 403: Conflict Before Law Enforcement Department

"Wait here when you're told to wait, stop with all the nonsense!" the White Epaulet said with a dark expression.

Quite a few people were coming and going from the Enforcement Department. Most ignored Xu Huo and the other person, though one or two whispered a few words to that White Epaulet as they passed, their expressions ambiguous.

The two of them were left hanging there. Twenty minutes passed, and still no one came out to take over the batch of instruments.

Xu Huo finished a cigarette and signaled for Wan Tingfang to get in the vehicle.

Although puzzled, Wan Tingfang complied. Once they were both in the vehicle, Xu Huo directly started it up and drove off.

"What are you doing?!" the White Epaulet guarding them roared angrily, immediately notifying Enforcement Department players to block the vehicle.

This was the Enforcement Department headquarters, surrounded by players and checkpoints. Of course, Xu Huo couldn't just drive out recklessly. He hovered the vehicle in the air, pressed the communication button, and said, "I just checked and realized I drove the wrong vehicle. This isn't the shipment the Logistics Department wanted."

"You've already delivered it. You can't just say it's not now. Stop the vehicle, or we'll take measures!" that White Epaulet also rose into the air, though he was using an item to do so.

Xu Huo wasn't flustered in the slightest. "What, are you planning to openly rob us now?"

The White Epaulet was choked for a moment, but he couldn't just open the vehicle door to check. He could only repeat, "Stop the vehicle, get down!"The Enforcement Department clearly had no intention of letting them go. Wan Tingfang said in a low voice, "What do we do? Fight our way out?"

"No need." Xu Huo rolled down the window and, right in front of the White Epaulets and others, contacted Sanyang. "Director, the Enforcement Department wants to seize our instruments."

Director Sanyang was silent for two seconds before saying, "If the Enforcement Department intends to openly rob you, leave the instruments. Without the unique key, they can't use this batch of instruments. Just come back yourselves. I'll handle the rest."

After finishing his words, he cut the communication.

Without another word, Xu Huo parked, turned off the engine, closed the vehicle door, and prepared to leave.

That White Epaulet and the players who came to block them felt quite aggrieved. Letting Xu Huo and the other person abandon the instruments and leave meant not only could the instruments not be used, but they'd also have to haggle with the base afterward, potentially causing bigger trouble. Right at that moment, a blonde man walked out of the Enforcement Department building. He was also wearing a white uniform, but his epaulet had an additional gold badge.

"Captain!" the White Epaulets immediately saluted him.

The blonde man walked over and slapped the White Epaulet who had previously obstructed Xu Huo and the other person. He didn't listen to any explanations or intend to understand the course of events. He directly addressed Xu Huo, "Leave the instruments. You can go."

The appearance of the blonde man caused Wan Tingfang to involuntarily take half a step back. But the next second, seeing the man beside her standing completely unmoved, she immediately stepped back into place.

Two other White Epaulets reached out to block him.

Wan Tingfang beside him couldn't help but glance at him, then added, "We've already reported the matter to the Director. You can communicate with him directly."

The blonde man's expression darkened slightly. "That base really has hidden dragons and crouching tigers, doesn't it?"

"Hardly worthy of such praise. I mean, what's the point of making things difficult for two errand runners? The instruments aren't ours, the key isn't in our hands, and the Director is waiting for us to return and report. Wouldn't wrapping this up quickly be better for everyone?" Xu Huo took out his lighter and lit another cigarette. "See? Why go looking for trouble for no reason?"

Others aside, the White Epaulet who had been slapped now looked at the blonde man with fear in his eyes. He couldn't help but roar at Xu Huo in a low voice, "Hand over the key already! Don't you want the final payment?!"

"No key." Xu Huo didn't relent. Of course, he wouldn't give the key. And what did the final payment have to do with him?

"Want to make a move?" Noticing the White Epaulet's fist loosening as if gripping something, he immediately said, "I didn't think you were really planning to rob us openly. Quite bold."

After saying this, he even gave a thumbs-up.

Wan Tingfang coughed lightly. "We should head back."

That White Epaulet captain was furious. Why weren't they quitting while they were ahead? Weren't they afraid they wouldn't leave the Enforcement Department alive today?

The blonde man's face was gloomy. He raised his hand, signaling the two White Epaulets to step back, but his icy gaze remained fixed on Xu Huo.

A White Epaulet recounted the incident, emphasizing Xu Huo's obstinacy in not handing over the key.

After listening, Ran Ying waved her hand dismissively. "Xu Huo has only been in District 011 for a few days. The base people probably didn't give him the key because they were afraid he'd run off with the instruments. Captain Bullen, you can just communicate with the base about this. It's not a big deal anyway; the final payment hasn't been made yet."

The blonde man, Bullen, said, "Captain Ran, is this your call to make?"

Ran Ying's temper flared up as well. She looked directly at him. "The instruments should have been handled by the Logistics Department in the first place. What business is it of you White Epaulets? Putting garlic up your noses and pretending to be elephants—since when is it your place to detain people and seize things? Don't blame others for not giving you face when you have no shame yourselves!"

The White Epaulet who was singled out trembled.

Ran Ying wasn't finished. "You're a useless captain too. With her loud shout, players in black uniforms poured out from the Enforcement Department building, their numbers instantly surpassing the White Epaulets present.

This is your first time running an errand for the base, right? I won't make things difficult for you. Go back in peace. The Logistics Department will go find Director Sanyang themselves."

"Thank you." Xu Huo looked gratefully at this woman. "Let's have a meal together when you're free."
