Players, Please Board the Train

Chapter 370: New Friend

Chapter 370: New Friend

It was evident that Super Items were not only crucial for players, but even for some lagging game partitions.

There wasn't much detailed information about "Fielder's Battle Angel" on the internet, but there were rumors claiming that "Fielder's Battle Angel" was a Super Item that simultaneously possessed the ability to influence both time-space and life. It could be considered a top-tier item among Super Items, which was why it attracted so many high-level players, and even players from other wormhole points who came after hearing the news.

No one knew who this Super Item would ultimately end up with, but the Paper Artisan had certainly drawn all the fire. It was comparable to the time "Three Seconds of a Life" was announced across the entire wormhole point network. The difference was that the Paper Artisan was a super player. Compared to an E-grade player and a new game partition, he possessed combat power that was simply not on the same level.

"Really not doing a decent human's job," Xu Huo sighed with emotion, then searched for some information regarding the Enforcement Department.

Ran Ying was actually quite famous, and she was also the image representative for the Enforcement Department's Black Epaulets. Her photo was the one posted on the official network.

The Black Epaulets and White Epaulets were two types of Enforcement Department uniforms with the same design but different colors. Players wearing these two uniforms had different divisions of labor. They operated independently from other government departments. Unlike other departments, the Enforcement Department had no ordinary people or Evolvers;

all its personnel were players.

The information one could find about the Enforcement Department was all positive. They usually operated in groups, with very little about individuals. Members were relatively secretive, with only Ran Ying, the image representative, having some harmless gossip.

Xu Huo's gaze lingered on her personal profile for a few seconds before he closed the projection and pulled up his contact list.

There were currently three people in this contact list: Shi Youzhi, Captain of the First Brigade, Track Supply Department of the Game Government;

Deng Xuan, the player who dealt in reselling items and committed theft on the train;

and the third was Ran Ying.

Hesitating for a moment over the first two names, he selected the first one and sent a message, asking if he could go to make a record tomorrow.Shi Youzhi replied very quickly, directly telling him to go wait at the government base. He started work at 8 AM.

After receiving a definite reply, Xu Huo called the hotel staff again, temporarily changed rooms, and then rested.

No one disturbed him all night. At seven in the morning, the staff member delivered the complimentary breakfast on time, informing him that because they failed to ask for his Membership Card in time yesterday, he did not receive the discount he should have enjoyed. Therefore, the breakfast was free. If he wanted to stay at the Stellar Corporation Hotel again tonight, he could upgrade to a top suite at a 20% discount. This suite had dedicated security, and any visitor entering the floor without permission would be considered an intruder.

"Good grief, even with the 20% discount, it's still forty thousand," Xu Huo expressed admiration for the hotel's blatant act of robbery.

The floor manager smiled and said, "Any city tends to be less friendly to outsiders. Although you have a friend like Captain Ran, Stellar Corporation can offer you a sense of security that is different from the rest."

Xu Huo hesitated briefly before saying, "I need to use a car today. Can you arrange a vehicle for full-day pick-up and drop-off?"

"That is only proper," the floor manager said, taking his Membership Card and having someone process the check-in.

"I'm a bit curious. A player's appearance and number aren't directly linked or bound. The Stellar Corporation Hotel also doesn't perform biometric authentication on players. How do you accurately transmit the bill to a player's personal panel?" Xu Huo asked.

"The moment you enter the hotel, your identity appears in the hotel's internal system. The hotel's facilities may seem operated by people, but most utilize machinery and the game's internal systems," the floor manager said with a smile. "You are definitely a potential client for Stellar Corporation. There's no need to keep such minor matters confidential from you."

Xu Huo nodded slightly. In simple terms, it used the same monitoring system as the Dimensional Rift game.

"Is the Stellar Corporation Hotel also an asset of the game?" he asked casually.

"Just a cooperative partnership," the floor manager said considerately, handing him his umbrella, then added, "Captain Ran just said she was coming to have breakfast with you."

"You didn't tell her I changed rooms, right?"

"Room numbers are confidential," the floor manager said, leading him to one end of the floor. "This is the guests' dedicated passageway. No need to go out from the first floor."

It was a small parking room. Opening the window allowed one to fly directly out from the upper floor. The car and driver were already prepared. Xu Huo could get in and leave immediately.

As the car departed, Xu Huo saw Ran Ying's silver sports car through the fully enclosed window. The vast majority of vehicles in 011 underwent special processing, making it impossible to see inside from the outside. So even if facing each other, neither side knew who was in the opposite car.

After passing Ran Ying, Xu Huo headed straight for the Game Government base.

The Game Government base was located on the north side of the Main City District. The area wasn't large, but it was guarded by robots.

The driver parked the car outside. "The line ahead is the security perimeter. Cars can't go past."

Xu Huo checked the time. He was a bit early. Nevertheless, he got out of the car and looked up at the building directly ahead.

All six buildings of this base had silver exteriors. The five surrounding buildings were triangular in shape. The largest one in the middle was cylindrical, visually estimated to be over a thousand meters tall. Directly in front of the building was a massive metal stele that precisely blocked the main entrance. Most of the stele's surface was engraved with names in different languages. It was unclear what this stele commemorated.

"You're here quite early," a rough voice came from behind.

Xu Huo turned around and saw a large man in a suit, holding a large box under each arm, walking over. He seemed to be in a hurry. He nodded and gestured for Xu Huo to follow.

The robots inside the security perimeter scanned him and quickly gave way, only returning to their positions after the two passed through.

Xu Huo thought this was the base's external checkpoint, but he didn't expect a light screen to project from the metal stele as they walked past it. When he passed through, the characters on the inner side of the metal stele were wiped away, replaced by an electronic screen recording his physical appearance. There was also a text notification: "All departments, please note: a player has entered the base perimeter."

No sound could be heard from outside the door, but upon entering the building, not only was there a holographic projection of him in the lobby, but also an alert sound. It only stopped when Shi Youzhi used an Access Card to deactivate the alert, though two bee-like flying devices still followed him closely.

Shi Youzhi led him to the third floor and pointed to the right. "That's the Records Department over there. You can go register now. Just explain clearly what happened."

Xu Huo looked around. "I thought a government base would have a lot of people."

Shi Youzhi glanced at him. "Where would a Game Government base get so many office workers? Hurry up and go."

After saying that, he headed down the left corridor with the boxes under his arms. The wall-like surface suddenly turned glass-like, opened, then closed. The special simulation material quickly returned to the same color as the corridor.

Shi Youzhi's attitude was somewhat different from the previous two days.

Xu Huo didn't linger. He followed the instructions and went to the right corridor. As soon as he approached, the door opened. In the smoke-filled environment, a hand holding a cigarette extended from a pile of Square Boxes and pointed to the chair in front. "Sit."
