Chapter 166: Yellow Tribulation
Chapter 166: Yellow Tribulation
While Ye Jun was busy clearing his trials, he didn’t realise that he was actually a mess outside. Song Ying raised her hand and flicked her fingers, causing a thin barrier to rise around the mountain they stood upon.
"Five Heavenly Tribulations..." she muttered in disbelief. "And he’s still continuing. What is he made of?"
"This makes me even more curious about his secrets," Han Yuexin said from beside her. "By the way, how many Heavenly Tribulations did your Young Miss endure?"
"Seven! And that’s already incredible. Now, we might get another prodigy of her level. And what a play of fate, they’re both lovers."
"That’s true." Han Yuexin smiled faintly. "I just hope he endures all of them. The upcoming ones are going to be worse. I’ve only heard about Heavenly Tribulations above Five Marks, this will be my first time seeing one. I’m excited."
"I’m glad for you, but help me a bit here," Song Ying said while strengthening the barrier further. "The Yellow Tribulation is about to begin, and it contains Aspects of Heavenly Dao in extremely high density, so it’ll attract many forces and Spiritual Beasts too, especially them."
She grimaced and added, "The next hour will be a test in itself."
"W-What?" Han Yuexin was startled. "We’re going to be attacked?"
"Yes, I’m pretty sure of it." Song Ying looked around cautiously and said, "Ask your Elders to help me with the barrier too. It’ll make sure Ye Jun gets the full brunt of the Yellow Tribulation. Also, expect even Tier 4 Spiritual Beasts. Yellow Tribulation is extremely attractive to them."
Han Yuexin’s face lost its color as she cursed, "Damnit! You should have warned me beforehand. This is bad! The Sect is currently at its weakest, and even if I have the authority to use the Array Formations, I doubt it’ll be enough."
"We can only hope it’s only one Yellow Tribulation, otherwise things will become dire," Song Ying muttered grimly.
"Don’t bother. It is inevitable."
Hearing the calm voice behind them, both of them were startled and quickly turned around, only to find a short young man standing there, his hair tied behind his head and a fierce look settled in his eyes.
"You...." Han Yuexin frowned in confusion. "How did you manage to come here?"
"I knew something was off about you." Song Ying’s lips curled upward slightly. "You’re hiding your cultivation base, aren’t you?"
"All you need to know is that we’re on the same side," Meihui said as he stepped forward. "Leave the barrier to me. I’ll protect him from here. I’m sure that with your combined efforts, you can repel the Beast Waves."
"So it’s really inevitable." Song Ying sighed and turned around. "I’ll do as you say on the account that Young Miss trusts you a lot."
Meihui flinched slightly upon hearing that, but no changes appeared on his face. "Good. Then please hurry. We don’t have much time left."
"On it!" Song Ying nodded and grabbed Han Yuexin’s hand before flying away. Although Han Yuexin was wary of Meihui, she decided to ignore it because of the Song Clan.
Left alone, Meihui descended the stone steps, her gaze softening upon seeing Ye Jun.
"Idiot! Why did you have to run off and attempt the Ascension so recklessly?"
She took out four wooden doors from her spatial ring and threw them around Ye Jun. Instead of falling, they began to hover around him while aligning themselves with the cardinal directions.
Meihui made a total of five hand signs before slamming her palms together, creating a loud boom that dispersed the clouds around the pillars. The shockwave also activated the wooden doors as an invisible barrier appeared around Ye Jun.
"This will do." Meihui staggered forward, almost losing her footing as her voice turned weak. "I’m sorry. I’m sorry for ignoring you like that. I’m sorry for ignoring my feelings, so please succeed. I’m begging you."
She clutched the stone step tightly with her trembling hand and continued speaking even though it put her at risk of exposing her identity. However, she didn’t care about anything currently.
In her eyes, only Ye Jun existed.
She knew how impossible the Heavenly Tribulations became upon crossing the Five Mark threshold. The difference was so massive that the majority of prodigies who crossed that mark died because they couldn’t endure the Yellow Tribulation. At most, they could survive one, but that was their absolute limit.
But she knew Ye Jun too well. There was simply no way an extraordinary existence like him would be content with only one Yellow Tribulation. He was going to attract more, and that meant the Heavens would also test him even more harshly.
The more Yellow Tribulations there were, the lower Ye Jun’s chances of making it out alive became.
She knew all of this. She should have included every detail within the manual she gave Ye Jun.
Tears dropped from her eyes.
"Please, come back to me. I won’t fight with you. I-I am fine with you having other women besides me too. Liangxue is good. I like her. We can all be a family, so please..."
She lowered her head and pleaded weakly, "So please...come back to me."
She prayed with all her heart, hoping that Ye Jun would pass the Trials and Ascend successfully. If she could, she would choose to endure the Heavenly Tribulations in Ye Jun’s place. Unfortunately, that simply wasn’t possible.
She didn’t want to lose the only person she truly cared about in this world, the only one who made her feel like she was an actual person, that she mattered.
Surprisingly enough, it was this desperation that finally led her to recognise her feelings for Ye Jun. She finally realised just how deeply she loved him. It was to the point that she forgot everything else and ran all the way here just to make sure Ye Jun remained safe.
Just then, the sky above darkened as dense thunderstorm clouds began to gather and clash violently against one another. Lightning danced between them like furious serpents while booming sounds echoed throughout the heavens.
It was as if a calamity was descending upon the world itself.
It instantly attracted attention from all over the Northern Forces and even beyond them. Most of them didn’t react immediately, intending to observe the situation first, but others thought differently.
The movements of the Spiritual Beasts changed as countless beasts started a mad charge toward the White Gale Pavilion. The Tribulation was already affecting them, making them lose their minds to the insane hunger created by the Heavenly Dao.
Even if death awaited them, they were like moths flying toward a flame. They were fundamentally different from humans, vastly different, so this opportunity mattered far more to them than it would to any human cultivator.
If they could obtain even a piece of that Yellow Tribulation, their bloodlines would change permanently, granting their future potential a massive boost, and that was merely the beginning.
Not to mention that if they succeeded in devouring the human who attracted such Heavenly Tribulations, then they would become like a koi fish leaping through the Dragon Gate.
The temptation was so overwhelming that even death couldn’t stop them.
Only the more powerful and intelligent Spiritual Beasts stayed back, choosing to observe the situation like the other human forces.
Meanwhile, Song Ying led Han Yuexin directly toward the highest peak of the White Gale Pavilion while ignoring the fierce winds of the Domain. She was a Peak-Stage Sky Realm powerhouse, so a leftover Domain couldn’t exactly harm her.
They landed in a small clearing near the cliffside. From there, they had a perfect view of the entire Sect and everything surrounding it. As long as one stood there, almost nothing could escape their sight.
Without any hesitation, Han Yuexin took out a circular metal disk and stared at it for a brief moment.
"This is going to consume so many Spirit Stones."
"Stop thinking about it!" Song Ying nearly smacked her. "I swear on my cultivation that I’ll compensate for it."
"Ah! It isn’t because of that..." Han Yuexin became flustered and tried to explain herself, but a blinding flash of lightning erupted before her eyes, followed by such a deafening boom that even her ears felt like they were about to bleed.
Still, her eyes remained wide open as the Yellow Tribulation Lightning descended upon the world and struck the Ancestral Land.
"It’s here," Song Ying said while raising her hand. "And seems like Rong Hua was right. This isn’t going to end with just one. Activate the formations. NOW!"
Han Yuexin didn’t hesitate any longer and poured her Soul Essence into the metal disk as the atmosphere began to shimmer around the mountain range the White Gale Pavilion was situated upon.
One by one, Array Formations meant to defend the Sect came alive, ready to crush even mighty armies.
Song Ying examined the formations and smiled slightly. "They are good. They’ll hold for enough time. I’ll also go and deal with the upcoming troublemakers."
"I will also send the Elders," Han Yuexin said while keeping her eyes closed. "They can help."
"Good. The more, the better."
With that, Song Ying leaped down the cliff, ready to face even the strongest Spiritual Beasts for her Young Miss’s happiness.
