Chapter 129: Tier 4 Spirtual Beasts
Chapter 129: Tier 4 Spirtual Beasts
Ye Jun ran, maneuvering through the rough terrain of the eastern Black Wind Wildlands, feeling damp air surrounding him. A sickening feeling washed over him, making him grimace.
Every fibre of his being screamed at him to run the opposite way, away from the source of this feeling. Yet, his instincts told him to go forward.
It was the first time his instincts had such a contradictory reaction, so he chose to check it out. If the worst came, he would run away using the Escape Talisman.
’But if I don’t check, I’ll just regret it.’
While his emotional side was busy cursing at his situation, his rational mind continued to analyse everything while running. He noted one major thing instantly.
’Why aren’t there any Spiritual Beasts?’
He stopped and checked his surroundings for any clue. Sure enough, he found another thing that rattled him. Footprints of various shapes and sizes, all heading towards a single direction.
’So, whatever it is, it’s affecting the beasts and monsters, leading them somewhere,’ he frowned and turned towards the north. ’This is getting big.’
Without any hesitation, he took out a wooden flute and tried to play it. He wasn’t a master at it, but he didn’t need to be. Just playing was enough.
But no sound came out no matter how much he blew into it.
’This is getting weirder,’ Ye Jun thought, slipping the flute back into his Space Ring.
It was an artefact Han Yuexin gave him to contact her in case of emergencies. He was grateful to have an Origin Realm cultivator to call at any moment.
Unfortunately, it didn’t work, so now he was all alone in this dangerous situation.
’Should I continue?’ he wondered, but the thought only lasted a second before his curiosity won over.
Without any hesitation, he began following the footsteps but kept his pace slower and melted into the surroundings. Stealth was best in these cases.
The forest around him was eerily silent, which added to his unease. There was something wrong here.
After around ten minutes, he stopped as the sickening feeling grew stronger. It was palpable. Even the air around him was shifting weirdly, which made him question his vision for a moment.
’I am close!’
He slowed down further and moved ahead.
All of a sudden, the earth beneath him shuddered and if it wasn’t for his training in the Gale Pressure Chamber, he would have fallen down from the tree branch.
He crouched down and looked below. Just then, the sun suddenly vanished, covering the Wildlands around him in darkness.
’No. It’s not darkness.’
The darkness vanished just as quickly as it came and the earth shuddered once again. This time, Ye Jun could even see faint cracks forming underneath the tree he was on.
Cold sweat formed on his forehead as he thought, ’It was a Spiritual Beast thrown back.’
Steeling his heart, he moved forward and finally saw something that made his eyes widen in surprise.
A thirty-foot ape-like Spiritual Beast stood there, covered in deep black fur, snorting as smoke rose from its nostrils. Two extra arms came out of its back.
The lavender colour in its eyes made Ye Jun almost run away immediately. His passive skills also told him that it was his death sentence.
’Damnation! What the hell is a Low-Grade Tier 4 Spiritual Beast doing here!?’ he cursed. ’The one which passed above my head probably was of similar strength.’
As far as he was aware, this was a remote area of the Black Wind Wildlands. Not remote enough to be completely empty, but enough to only have weaker Spiritual Beasts.
Even a Peak-Grade Tier 2 Spiritual Beast was a rarity here.
Otherwise, how could a weak village like Greywood Village exist here?
Even if the White Gale Pavilion cleaned the Spiritual Beasts for them, if there were more dangerous ones here, they would have wiped out the village long ago for their life force.
Ye Jun controlled his emotions and steadied his breathing. It was only then that he noticed something glowing not far away on the ground.
His eyes widened in disbelief and for a moment, he almost blew away his disguise.
’Bubbles!’
The Spiritual Beasts had actually dropped Attribute bubbles while being slapped away. Ye Jun looked around, making sure the place was safe before slipping down.
Just as he reached the ground, he felt the earth shaking again. This time, it was low in frequency but more consistent. Actually, it was growing.
’Fuck!’
Ye Jun quickly lay down inside some bushes, a suffocating atmosphere filling the surroundings. He watched as a lean, but densely packed muscular limb slammed not far from him, leaving dents in the ground.
He watched as the Spiritual Beast ran towards the four-armed ape like a tank advancing at full speed. He finally identified it too.
’Iron Tusk Boar.’
It was a boar the size of a small truck, thick purple scales covering its entire body. The beast exuded a terrifying presence as it advanced at the ape like an unstoppable force.
’Two Tier 4 Spiritual Beasts! What rotten luck!’ Ye Jun crawled forward while watching the fight between the two. Soon, he reached close to the attribute bubbles and picked them up.

’Holy fuck!’ he almost cursed out loud seeing the number.
In the next second, he felt a great amount of Qi pouring inside his body. It ignored his usual pattern of going through the meridians in a full circulation and directly entered his Dantian.
It began to spin wildly, disturbing the other seven Qi vortices, so Ye Jun had to hurriedly step in and focus on it.
After around a minute, he exhaled as a smile formed on his lips. ’Eighth Stage Qi Condensation Realm. It feels so good.’
He didn’t just advance a stage, but also filled a good portion for his next advance. Now, he wanted the two Spiritual Beasts to continue fighting.
’Just a random drop gave me this much. If I could harvest all the Attribute bubbles they drop in their fight, I might advance to the Soul Tempering Realm.’
The thought excited him, but the suffocating aura around him poured cold water on those thoughts. Even from a distance, he could feel the terrible clash between the two beasts.
If he went any closer, just a random shockwave would wipe him out of existence.
’Stupid fucker!’ he ignored his emotional side and looked around.
He found one more attribute bubble and quickly went to pick it up.
[Qi +43]
’Noice!’
The Iron Tusk Boar chose to strike just then, as it slammed its sharp tusks into the ape, sending it rolling away.
Ye Jun picked up the bubble and hurriedly hid behind a tree again. He didn’t dare to use his Mysterious Techniques any longer. It would cause disturbance in the atmosphere and the beasts might sense him.
And offending two Tier 4 Spiritual Beasts in their fight was the last thing he wanted to do in this situation.
’Might as well just jump into that boar’s mouth.’
Shaking his head, he studied the surroundings since he wasn’t getting any more attributes, not unless he decided to join the fight too.
’There is something else.’
One thing he was sure of was that the sickening feeling he was feeling didn’t come from the two beasts. While they were powerful and could kill him as easily as swatting a fly, they didn’t exactly give him a feeling of dread.
After that dream, he rarely got such feelings from anyone, so he wasn’t surprised to not get it from the two, but something in this area still evoked that feeling in him.
Spiritual Beasts also usually ran away from such battles. They weren’t attracted to them, not unless both parties were dead so they could feast on them.
’Maybe the two also got lured in like other Spiritual Beasts. But what is enough to even lure such powerful beasts?’
Ye Jun decided to stay away from the clearing their battle created and go around. The other Spiritual Beasts weren’t in sight, so he needed to find them first.
The ground and air continued to shake as the two Spiritual Beasts fought, but he kept his balance in check and made a round around the clearing, still keeping his stealth just to make sure a Spiritual Beast didn’t ambush him.
Finally, he reached a point from where he could see the destruction much more clearly and could only shake his head.
’They can decimate entire towns and even cities if left alone.’
As he moved forward, he began to see Spiritual Beasts and had to hide even more carefully. He stopped not far from them and frowned.
All of the Spiritual Beasts had stopped and were facing a hill near the fight between the two beasts. The strange pact of not attacking between the Spiritual Beasts confused him.
’That hill is the reason. But what is inside it?’
