Chapter 118: Clear Provocation
Chapter 118: Clear Provocation
"Who dared to touch my sister?"
Hearing the furious shout that echoed in the square, Ye Jun smiled. Excitement burned inside him as he thought, ’Just what I was waiting for.’
A young man strode inside the square, accompanied by a few enforcers behind him. His chiseled face contorted into anger as he looked around.
Upon looking at his sister’s bloodied back and Enforcer Three, he bellowed, "You got some guts to lay hands on my sister."
A terrible pressure assaulted Enforcer Three as she stumbled back. Still, she didn’t look away and kept her grip on the Thunder Whip.
"Calm your anger, Zhuxin," Third Seat stepped forward to shield her. "Your sister broke laws and is receiving punishment for it. Do you want to break laws too by saving her?"
"B-Brother!" the bitch cried out. "I didn’t do anything. I’m being framed. Please, believe me."
"See?" Zhuxin was still angry, but tried to contain it. "My sister never lies, so someone is framing her. Who is it? Tell me and I’ll have them confess the truth."
"You don’t..."
"I’m here. Greetings, Fellow Daoist."
Before the Third Seat could say anything, Ye Jun entered the square and waved his hand happily. His smile was so contrasting with the atmosphere that many enforcers were weirded out.
Even Third Seat couldn’t understand his thought process.
"So it’s you," Zhuxin gnashed his teeth, as a terrible pressure descended upon the square with Ye Jun at the center. "The arrogant newcomer."
Mountain stood in his spot, frowning at the pressure. He Wenxin took a step backward, unable to handle the pressure well.
’Soul Tempering Realm... no wonder she’s so arrogant. She has good backing.’
Meanwhile, Ye Jun stood completely calm in his spot, treating the domineering pressure as nothing. Really, the dream had increased his mental resistance to such things to ridiculous degrees.
A flash of surprise appeared in Zhuxin’s eyes as he said, "Good. You’re not a totally worthless man. Confess the truth, otherwise I’ll have to use my means, and I can assure you, you don’t want that."
"Zhuxin!" Third Seat bellowed. "You’re threatening someone to falsify their testimony. Do you know what awaits such a crime?"
"I’m not threatening, Senior Brother." Zhuxin took a deep breath to calm down. "I just want to bring justice to my sister. She has been wronged."
Just as Third Seat was about to say something, Ye Jun asked, "Can I handle this, Senior Brother? There’s really no need to trouble yourself."
Inwardly, he cursed him as he was about to ruin everything he worked hard for. Fortunately, the Third Seat backed away for some reason.
Clearing his throat, Ye Jun turned back towards Zhuxin and said, "Your sister tried to frame us, but she was stupid enough to carry the evidence with her. When searched, it was found on her, proving her guilty. Anything to say, Senior Brother?"
Zhuxin got closer to Ye Jun and said, "Tell me, what is your goal? What do you plan to accomplish by framing my sister?"
"Are you that delusional?" Ye Jun scoffed. "Still believing that bitch of your sister is innocent?"
Zhuxin’s aura flared up. "You’re courting death!"
’Finally! He said it!’ Ye Jun almost smiled but kept his face straight and said, "If death is a beautiful jade beauty, then I certainly would like to court it. If it’s someone like your sister, I would rather not."
Zhuxin’s hand went to his sword, as he was ready to swipe Ye Jun’s head clean, but the Third Seat appeared before them in that instant.
"Zhuxin! Snap out of it. He’s provoking you into breaking laws. Attack him and you’ll be revoked of your position," Third Seat said, before turning towards Ye Jun. "And you should mind your words. I will not have you insult someone like that in my presence."
"I’m sorry, but I just can’t take it when someone is insulting me," Ye Jun said, his voice serious. "First, his sister framed me and my friends. Now the brother came to insult and threaten me. I can’t take it."
Third Seat sighed and moved away. "Just don’t break any laws now."
Zhuxin removed his hand from the sword’s hilt and said, "Let my sister go and I’ll consider forgiving this matter."
If Ye Jun decided to forgive the bitch, the charges on her would drop and her punishment would also be dropped. That was what Zhuxin wanted.
"And why would I do that?" Ye Jun asked.
"Because I’m asking you nicely," Zhuxin said. "If you don’t, you’ll become my enemy. I can guarantee you don’t want that."
"What I want depends on my mood, so you can’t really guess it actually," Ye Jun said matter-of-factly. "In any case, continue the punishment. He can cry about it."
Just as Enforcer Three raised her hand, Zhuxin shouted, "Stop!"
However, she didn’t stop and lashed the bitch’s back as a sonic boom echoed along with her screams.
Zhuxin gritted his teeth, as he was then forced to watch his sister getting whipped five more times. He knew about the Thunder Whip as it was infamous for tearing apart even a cultivator’s flesh.
The bloodied back of his sister was proof of that. By the time it ended, his knuckles had turned white as he then ordered his subordinates to take her back to the Apothecaries.
Then, he turned towards Ye Jun and said, his voice low and heavy, "I would challenge you to a duel, but you’re such a lowlife that the rank difference between us is like heaven and earth."
He sneered in disdain. "I can’t wait for you to climb up the ranks. I’ll wait up here to throw you back down."
"You want to fight me?" Ye Jun blinked in surprise. "Then come down, man. You’re the one who wants it, not me."
"You think I’ll let you off after everything you’ve done?" Zhuxin grinned. "Heh, you’re not getting a chance to cultivate from now on. Every week you’ll fight and get beaten so much you’ll spend your entire time recovering from it."
"You can’t do it," Ye Jun scratched his ears and said. "You’ll just be a coward who will endure watching everything."
